Chapter Seventy-One: Sauron

When the Pope and Seraphim died, so did the city of Constantine.

For those devout believers who have been bathed in the light since childhood, there is nothing more desperate than the collapse of faith.

There was a faint smell of sadness throughout Constantine, mixed with the smell of blood in the air, the smell of charred corpses, and so on, like hell.

"Woohoo." The blood-red little monster let out a low roar and jumped happily onto Carlo's shoulder.

Carlo tilted his head slightly, reached out and pinched the little monster's neck and carried it to his eyes.

The little monster bared its teeth at him like a grumpy puppy, but it was a hundred times more fierce and ugly than a dog.

A hideous smile appeared on Carlo's face, and he said softly, "I've put a lot of effort into it for you."

The little monster seemed to understand him, sticking out its long scarlet tongue and licking it affectionately on Carlo's face.

The barbed tongue was warm and slippery, giving Carlo a slightly rough feeling.

Carlo narrowed his eyes, as if enjoying a feeling of affection he had never experienced, but he soon became impatient.

"Okay little thing, game over.." Carlo ripped the little monster away and said, "Now it's time for you to tell me your real name... Well, you should have that thing."

The little monster was stunned for a moment, then a solemn expression appeared on his face, and his mouth began to spit out one strange syllable after another.

When it finished the last syllable, the eastern sky darkened for a moment, and Carlo felt something and nodded in satisfaction.

"You should have a name.." Carlo touched his smooth chin, and suddenly his eyes lit up, and he slowly spoke: "From now on, you will be called Sauron."

"Haha.." Carlo laughed as if he had thought of something very interesting, and the pleasant expression on his face was so incompatible with the hideous and terrifying image that it felt strange and terrifying.

"I'll take the time to give you a beautiful ring, you'll love it.." Carlo shook the little monster away, "Now, go enjoy your first meal since you were born..."

The little monster roared happily, a greedy, bloodthirsty expression on its ugly face, and then flew quickly towards Constantine.

There, there are countless fresh and delicious flesh and blood...

Somewhere a broken city-state.

On top of the collapsed ruins, corpses were strewn, countless faces condensed with despair and fear before death, and empty and dead eyes looked up at the sky.

The demons and the Holy See army were entangled and fought each other, stabbing the swords in their hands into each other's bodies, and the air was filled with the smell of blood and gunsmoke.

Five legendary knights, with a dazzling white holy light on their bodies, formed a powerful formation, but they could only struggle on the brink of collapse.

Serdan raised his sword with black aura and attacked the lackeys of light with the terrifying dragons.

Beside them, a bone dragon of equally large size was entangled with eight archbishops dressed in red.

The cardinals' situation was obviously even more difficult, the sacred barrier they had unleashed together was crumbling under the attack of the bone dragon, and occasionally throwing one or two divine spells smashed on the bone dragon but it didn't hurt.

This is simply an insult to the Light, no undead creature can live so nourished under the divine power, the cardinals thought with grief and indignation on their faces.

Unfortunately, they didn't know that the body of this bone dragon was also born from the light.

The mood of the legendary priests who led the army was simply terrible, and the power of the demons was far beyond their imagination.

Not only are there many of them, but the strength of the individuals is much stronger than that of ordinary human soldiers.

With the exception of the Papal Army, ordinary Kingdom soldiers could not make it to a single turn under the hands of those ugly and ferocious monsters, who could easily smash the soldiers to pieces, along with their shields and people.

Moreover, these monsters never seem to know that they are tired, and they have been fighting for more than a day and a night, and even the legends feel sleepy, but the monsters are still alive and well, and they can fight all the time, as long as they tear a few pieces of flesh from the pile of corpses under their feet and stuff them into their mouths from time to time.

The rays of the sun are fading, and the sun is setting in the west, and it is about to enter the second night.

One of the most powerful knights in the Holy See army couldn't hold back any longer, and he said in a low voice: "Kill one first, and then go and rescue the priests."

The rest of the people understood that they naturally would not target the demon dragon that looked too terrifying, and the five of them let out an angry roar in unison, and the white light on their bodies was great, and then they jumped up at the same time, changing their previous attitude of resisting, and rushed towards the same target - Sedan.

Sedan's face changed drastically, and the long sword in his hand slashed at the surging white light, but it was bounced away by the huge force of the shock, and he couldn't help but spit out a mouthful of blood.

The combined attack of the five people was already close at hand, and at this distance, even the demon dragon could not save him.

Seeing that Serdan was about to die under the holy light, at this moment, a loud "boom" sounded on the ground under his feet, and countless thick and sharp stone thorns emerged from the ground.

One of the knights couldn't dodge, and was directly pierced by a stone, and died with his eyes wide open.

The rest of the people dodged in confusion, but apparently there was no more chance, and all of them looked at each other with ugly faces - there was even a powerful demon hiding in the shadows.

Serdan pulled back a short distance, looked coldly into a corner, and said, "I thought you would hide like a mouse forever."

There was a strange laugh from the corner, and a rickety figure stepped out, wrapped in a black robe, but quickly pulled it down, revealing an ugly and distorted face.

Merlin ignored Sedan's gaze, instead closing his eyes and stretching out his long, thin hands, as if embracing the sun that was about to fall below the horizon.

"Do you feel it? Sedan." Merlin spoke softly.

Serdan didn't speak, just looked at him.

Merlin didn't care in the slightest, he opened his eyes and watched the last rays of light be swallowed up by the darkness, and then sighed in a tone of both joy and regret: "Our master, he succeeded... From now on, this continent will be ruled by darkness forever."

“.. It's really impressive.. Happy.."

Serdan froze, then a sinister smile appeared on his face, and he bared his teeth like a beast and rushed out, his sharp black sword cutting off the stunned head of a knight.

The dragon roared, its sharp claws tearing through its armor and gnawing at the flesh within.

"Kill them all, and welcome the return of our king..."

...

The center of Rome fell to the minions of demons, the Pope died a tragic death, the Roman Emperor died a tragic death, and no one escaped.

The whole of Constantine was reduced to death in a single day, and above the ruins, there were a lot of bones everywhere, each of which was mutilated as if it had been gnawed by some terrible creature.

Without the support of the Holy See, the bloated and weak Roman Empire collapsed in an instant, and the people of all ethnic groups living under the brutal rule of the Romans for 400 years threw away their hoes one after another, once again picked up the sword, and found their way out in blood and fire.

The whole continent was completely plunged into darkness and chaos...
