Chapter 222: When the battle is in progress
This is a very pure team of adventurers, although the strength of the team is not strong, but Barrett has some liking to lead these young men on adventures.
They were real adventurers with some experience, not peasants, bards, coachmen, or some other profession working part-time. The young men can skillfully master the weapons in their hands, cooperate with each other quite tacitly, and can also carry out Barrett's battle orders well, which is very rare.
What's more, the barbarian can rely on his status as an elite adventurer to yell at these young people in battle without any scruples. In fact, he used to do this a lot, but since his personality gradually changed to sullen and introverted, he basically stopped doing it.
Now try it once in a while, and hey, it feels great.
"Don't always get along with the heavy bone armor of these dreadclaws, 'fake sir'. Do you think that their heads are as hard and wooden as yours when you use a weapon to chop off their vulture-like heads like me?" Barrett's voice echoed through the passage, accompanied by a peculiar strike from the monster's mouth and carapace, a peculiar way of communication between the dreadclaw.
"I'm trying to do this! I'm trying!" Weimar grumbled loudly, raising his shield to block the monster's claws, "Also, can you not call me 'Sir Fake'?" He stabbed the monster in front of him with the long sword in his hand, but was blocked by the other party with his claws, "My dad said that when I become famous in Muya, he will find a very famous person to canonize me!"
"Hehe, at least you're worthy of your name now. William's laughter came from behind him.
"Don't giggle, concentrate on fighting!" Barrett staggered the dreadclaw in front of him with his shield, and then the 'Tyrannical Touch' drew a lightning arc that instantly slashed its head off, "Can't you even do such a simple thing from the safe attack between me and the shield of the 'Fake Sir'?" he shouted to William.
"Yes, yes, my Lord Barrett, as you wish!" the young man crouched slightly, waiting for an opportunity behind Barrett and Weimar.
At that moment, the bowstring sounded, and an arrow shot into the compound eye of the dreadclaw monster in front of Weimar. But the monster only tilted its head back, and instead of falling, it continued to hit the shield of the 'fake sir' with its claws even more frantically, making the latter miserable.
Then another arrow landed pinpoint into the one-eyed dreadclaw's other compound eye, causing the head to tilt back again and let out a strange cry of rage.
William seized the opportunity to rush forward, slashing the Blind Dreadclaw's throat and half of its neck with a single sword, before retreating behind the shield with the same speed.
The blind dreadclaw fell straight down towards Weimar, forcing him to take two steps back. Barrett also stepped back to keep the two on the same page.
"It seems like my job is the easiest. Gary whispered as he stood beside Blake, who was bent again, with two glowing stones in his hand.
"You'd better hold the glowing stone high!" Barrett roared.
"I really shouldn't have talked too much. The little goblin struggled to stand on his tiptoes, his hands raised in the air.
......
This was the third battle for Barrett and his party after entering the Dark Regions.
The first time they encountered was a dozen or so 'Dark Curtain Demonic Beasts' hidden on the top of the cave. It is an octopus-looking gastropod that likes to gather its body and hang from the top of a cave like stalactites. Once they have their prey, they will silently pounce down from above, covering their prey's head and suffocating them with their tentacles.
Barrett was quite familiar with these 'Dark Beasts', this kind of monster was the goal of his mission when he first came to the Underworld to do a mission, and he had a lot of trouble finding these monsters at that time, but he still couldn't find them until he encountered an accident. Now I ran into it by accident, and I don't know if the original task has been delayed until now.
The target of the second battle was a group of Ant-Men with black carapaces, who did not seem to be in very good shape at the time, and many of them appeared to be tired and scarred, as if they had just experienced a terrible war.
The battle didn't actually go on. Barrett and the others only made a slight contact with the black ant-man, and after the other party only killed two ant-men, he took the initiative to retreat to the corridor where he came, and Barrett had no intention of continuing the pursuit, and William was also hit by the opponent's poisonous spear in the shoulder, fortunately, after taking the antidote, there was no major problem.
And this time, Barrett and the others encountered some large beasts unique to the underworld-Dreadclaw.
The beast walks upright on its talon-like feet, and its upper limbs are a pair of large, sharp, hook-like claws, hence its name. The dreadclaw's head looks like a vulture, with a sharp beak. The eyes are small and have a pair of compound eyes like insects and arthropods. Its body resembles that of a beetle, and its whole body is covered in heavy blue-gray bone armor, which gives it a good defense.
According to legend, the dreadclaw creatures originally lived in the untouched depths of the Dark Realm, where they were rarely visited, and it was only after a violent earthquake that they climbed up from some cracks in the earth's crust and continued to reproduce. Traces of the Dreadclaw's activities can now be found throughout the three dark areas.
Barrett had also heard that in the depths of the Dark Realm, there were no more intelligent beings like the Grey Dwarves and Drow Elves. The species that live there are all kinds of strange monsters that have been mutated by the strong radiation and special environment of the underground......
The large number of dreadclaw monsters in front of them was encountered by Barrett and the others in a large karst cave with a lot of glowstones embedded in the roof of a cave. The dreadclaws were stacked in the dark corners of the large cavern, and there were many monsters hanging from the rock wall with their claws, motionless, not knowing what they were doing.
And when Barrett and the others had just come out of a passage in the cave, the motionless dreadclaws spotted them immediately. Then those monsters, like gargoyles who saw the invaders, suddenly came to life and launched a frantic pursuit of Barrett and the others.
At that time, the barbarian immediately ordered everyone to withdraw to the middle of the road. They kept running, and the dreadclaws tapped the ground with their massive hooks on their upper limbs, and their pursuit was not slow at all. After turning into a narrower road, Barrett noticed that they were about to be overtaken, and ordered to turn back and meet them.
There were a large number of dreadclaw monsters, and the speed at which Barrett and the others killed monsters was not too fast, and the battle fell into anxiety for a while.
"Three more steps back. Barrett shouted to Weimar beside him. He then retreated in tandem with 'Fake Jazz'.
"Blake, bow and arrow speed up cover, goblins, William, prepare the flames!" he commanded behind him again.
