Chapter 299: The End of the Prey
Although the prey is similar in appearance to a normal skeleton, it is more agile in its movements. As Carrot was about to catch up with it, the prey suddenly made a sharp turn and widened the distance between the two.
However, its struggle can only be done in this way, and it cannot change the outcome it will face in the end.
Barrett held the reins of the Nightmare Beast's mount in one hand, and slowly drew the runic weapon from his waist with the other. He stared at the changing prey in front of him, and with a slight build-up of his arm, he threw 'Despair' out of his hand.
The rune sword carried great strength and biting frost, striking its prey with precision, nailing it directly to the corrupt ground.
The prey is a demon corpse that bears some resemblance to a skeleton, and is also an undead creature on Barrett's hunting list. Looking at the introduction on the list, the overall number of demon soul corpses is actually quite rare, because only those souls who were cursed by the resentment of a large number of unjust dead people during their lifetime can be resurrected as such ugly undead after death.
It seems that this guy should have been a heinous bastard when he was alive, but he didn't know what he had done. Barrett sat on the Nightmare Beast's back and circled twice around the motionless demon corpse lying on the ground, observing the prey.
"Is it dead, big uncle?" asked the little ghost softly as he leaned over to his side.
"Of course. Barrett replied casually, "Because that guy is undead." "Of course the undead are dead, just like you and me.
"That's not what I meant. The little ghost wasn't quite happy with the answer, "I mean, can it still move?"
"Just check it out. Barrett turned over and dismounted, pulled out another runic weapon 'Pain' from his waist, and calmly walked towards the demon corpse on the ground.
Just when Barrett was less than two meters away from the other party, the demon soul corpse, which was originally stationary, suddenly turned its head to look at him. Immediately after, a long tongue with sharp claws on the tip shot out of the Demon Soul Corpse's gaping mouth and stabbed straight into Barrett's face.
With a soft "snap", the long tongue of the raid was tightly grasped by an iron glove.
The long tongue stiffened forward, trying to stab Barrett into Barrett's eye socket with its three-pointed claws at the end, but no matter how hard it tried, it was still a short distance from its target.
Immediately afterward, the long tongue reversed direction and wrapped itself around Barritt's arm, scraping the armor on it with its claws, leaving heavy scratches on it.
Heh, this thing is quite a threat, according to the description on the list, after being hit by this tongue, it seems that it will also suffer a temporary paralyzing effect, Barrett looked at the foul-smelling slime left by the long tongue wrapped around his arm, and felt a little uncomfortable.
Then, as he approached, he tightened the long tongue of the demon soul corpse like a rope.
The demon corpse swayed wildly on the ground, trying to break out of the cold sword of the pierced body. But since the frost had frozen its body and the rune sword, even if it tried to escape by tearing it apart, it was doomed to fail.
Barrett came to the Demon Soul Corpse, and pulled the arm wrapped around the long tongue hard, pulling the Demon Soul Corpse's head up. Immediately after, he used 'pain' to get close to the mouth of the demon soul corpse, and the scattered frost breath flickered and extinguished the impact of the opponent's soul fire.
'Pain' pressed against the end of the long tongue and severed it with an easy sword. The other party's teeth opened and closed frantically up and down, and the throat with a few pieces of carrion was still sticking to it, and let out a burst of unwilling hiss.
"If you have a next life, be reincarnated as a good person. Barrett pressed 'pain' against the other man's forehead and stabbed it hard......
After taking care of his prey, he removed the severed long tongue from his arm, coiled it around again, sealed it in a burlap bag, and put it into the spatial ring.
This long, powerful tongue is the part on his to-do list. The parts to be collected are different for different hunting targets, and I don't know what the mage who issued the mission did with so many bits and pieces of the undead.
......
The task continues.
Although the environment of the Dark Realm is extremely harsh for the living, it is a paradise for the undead. The body of the dead will not be hungry, thirsty, tired, sleepy, and will be active forever as long as it has enough negative energy.
Moreover, there is no distinction between the sun and the moon in the dark realm, and time becomes meaningless here. The only thing that Barrett found a little hard to accept was that the scenery was so monotonous.
If it weren't for the nightmaremon's green flames pulling in a straight line behind him, Barrett would sometimes have the illusion that he was always standing still, because the darkness around him often didn't change for a long time.
This kind of hunting trip is really a bit boring, but fortunately, I have a little ghost by my side, and I can often chat to relieve it.
"Big man, what is this?" asked the little ghost.
"Skeletons. Barrett replied.
"Why do skeletons have horns on their heads?" the little ghost wondered.
"Because it's a horned skeleton. ”
"Oh, that's it. The little ghost nodded as if he didn't understand, "Hmm...... Uncle Big Man, what's that?"
"Skeletons. Barrett replied.
"Then, how can there be a tail on the skeleton's buttocks?" the little ghost looked puzzled.
"Because it's a long-tailed skeleton. ”
......
Not far to the right there was a horde of zombies numbering in the hundreds, and Barrett gently pulled the reins and signaled Carrot to turn around. Then he clamped his legs and leaned slightly sideways on the Nightmaremon's back, leveling the 'despair' in his hands.
The Nightmare Beast rushed straight into the zombies, Barrett's runic sword severing the heads of one zombie after another.
Patches of zombies fell to the ground, a dark brown foul-smelling liquid slowly flowing from a headless body. The Death Knight turned his horse's head, shook off the scalp and minced flesh of his weapon, and charged towards the zombie horde again.
After three charges, the sluggish zombies began to flee in all directions. Barrett didn't chase after him, he looked at the large number of headless zombies on the ground, and was quite satisfied with the results of his riding battle.
He opened the [Quest Log], looked at the Soul Energy column, pouted at the growing number, and continued forward with the little ghost.
The second prey found by the Constructed Raven is a zombie with horns and a tail, no, a 'Rotten Herald' with wings on its back.
The Pioneer of Decay is an undead creature that looks slightly more like an angel. Most of its face was festering, but it was still recognizable. It wielded a dull, dull broken sword and wore rusty, broken armor, a pair of skeleton-only wings stretching out from its back.
There are only a few words on the to-do list about this undead, so Barrett doesn't quite know where this guy came from. He only knew that the reason why these undead were somewhat similar in appearance to angels was because they were probably members of the angelic clan when they were alive.
During this battle, Barrett could hear the rotten Harbinger muttering something in a language he didn't understand (Barrett only knew the lingua franca, and a small amount of dwarven and orc). Although this guy can speak, looking at the soul fire in his eyes, it doesn't look like he has a residual consciousness.
The Broken Sword of the Pioneer of Decay has no small amount of Darkness damage attached to it, and the slightest touch of the broken sword on the body of a living creature causes the flesh of a living creature to decay and fester. Its other hand can shoot a cursed 'Ball of Eclipse', a spell-like spell that not only deals a large amount of damage and explosion effects (Erosion Damage) just like the 'Fireball', but also weakens the body of the person who is hit.
Unfortunately, these spell-like abilities don't work very well against Death Knight Barrett.
This is also the embarrassment of the battle between the undead, many of each other's quite powerful skills or spell-like abilities, when used against each other, actually have no effect, because most of the targets of those spell-like abilities are living creatures.
This is also something that cannot be helped, after all, the nature of most undead creatures is 'hated by the living', just like the plane of the Dark Realm.
Excluding spell-like abilities, the Rotten Harbinger's own combat skills are quite good, but they are still far inferior to our Death Knight.
In the battle with the double sword, the broken sword gradually fell into disadvantage. Barrett noticed that his opponent's fighting skills were quite meritorious, so he let out the water and observed for a while, otherwise he would have chopped the rotten herald to the ground in ten rounds.
Of course, the end ending is pretty much the same.
And when Barrett stabbed the prey's skull with the rune sword again and dealt with the other party, he accidentally found that the corners of the mouth of this rotten pioneer rose slightly imperceptibly, and he didn't know if it was his delusion.
Barrett cut off a pair of bone wings from the opponent's back, held them in his hand and observed them for a while, and then put them into the spatial ring. This thing is a part of the list that must not be forgotten to collect.
Immediately afterward, he habitually rummaged around the body of the Rotten Herald, but found nothing, presumably in the long years, eroded by the negative energy of the Dark Realm.
Unwilling, Barrett could only take the rusty broken sword into it, barely counting it as a little gain.
And at this moment, the constructed raven, which had been hovering and guarding nearby, suddenly flew towards Barrett. The raven didn't wait for it to land on Barritt's shoulder, as usual, and shouted loudly in the air,
"Front, fight! mage, zombie dragon!"
