Chapter Eighty-Five: Secret Talks

After Sidney had gone, Carlo continued to look through the newspaper, and about half an hour later, there was another knock on his door, and a servant walked in to say that Dr. Renard had arrived.

Carlo nodded yes, and walked into the living room to meet Sidney's old friend.

Dr. Renard, a slightly chubby, middle-aged man younger than Sidney, is remembered by Lawrence telling Carlo that his friendship with Sidney has lasted for more than two decades, and that he is said to have delivered the baby himself.

"Oh, dear Lawrence.." When Renard saw Carlo, his eyes showed surprise, and he dropped the medicine box in his hand and quickly stepped forward and hugged Carlo gently, "How long have we not seen each other... Look at you, you're so handsome again."

Lawrence has been close to this uncle who loves him very much since he was a child, and Carlo imitated Lawrence's demeanor and replied helplessly: "Uncle Renard, it's only been half a month.."

"Really?" Reynard didn't care at all, still looking at Carlo with loving eyes, and reached out and squeezed his arm twice: "But I feel like it's a year... You haven't been exercising much lately, Lawrence, and your muscles feel like they're getting loose."

"Alright, Uncle Renard, help me look at the wound, I'm dying of pain." Carlo narrowed his eyes slightly, whispered a grumbling word, and wrenched Renard's palm. He was afraid that if he was hugged and pinched by Renard like this again, he would not be able to help but eat this dead fat man.

"Let me see.." Reynard put on a pair of delicate glass glasses, carefully examined the wound on Carlo's left hand, and exclaimed, "How can it be so deep?

Renard took off his glasses and glared at Carlo sternly: "Lawrence, you were so careless.."

"I swear I'll pay attention next time.." Carlo hurriedly reassured.

"During this time, you have to pay more attention, you can't let the wound get water, and you can't drink alcohol.."

Renard babbled as he disinfected, smeared, and bandaged his wounds.

Carlo made a nonchalant look, his eyes wandering around, impatient, but his mouth answered every word.

When the bandaging was finished, Renard stood up with satisfaction and patted Carlo on the shoulder: "Okay young man, don't be too careful, the wound is a man's medal.. Or be brave.."

"Hmm.." Carlo nodded slightly, no one could see the wound wrapped in gauze, the open skin and flesh slowly closed together, smooth as ever.

Immediately afterwards, Sidney left Renard for dinner, as had always been the case.

Dinner consisted of turkey, roast goose, smoked squirrel meat, and mushroom soup, which Carlo hadn't tasted cooked for a long time, which made him feel a little new and interesting, and ate a little more, and finally was praised by Sidney.

After dinner, the maid came up to collect the dishes, Sidney and Renard naturally had something else to talk about, and Carlo found a reason to leave.

"Ian, I'm a little sleepy, let's go back to my room first... If my father asked, he would say that I had already slept.." Carlo gave a faint command, and the manservant Ian nodded in understanding.

Carlo yawned and entered the room with a sleepy expression.

...

Meanwhile, in the study, Sidney and Renard sat looking at each other.

On the table in front of them were freshly brewed black tea and fine tobacco.

Renard picked up his pipe and took a hard puff, exhaled a pleasant smoke ring, smacked his lips, and said, "My dear friend, I have bad news for you."

Sidney glanced at him and spoke, "Say." ”

Reynard kept talking, smoking his pipe and replying, "Royal Advisor to Srkkosen, Mr. Morrison is coming to visit you in Vana. Well, it should already be on the way by now .."

"What do you mean by that?" Sidney frowned slightly, "I've never known any Royal Advisor Morrison... What is he visiting me for?"

"Oh, my friend, haven't you figured it out yet?" Renard laughed, "Bullshit royal advisor.. They are all members of the royal alliance.. Their people come to you, and they mean, man, you have a problem, you're going to be investigated, you're being targeted.."

Sidney's expression remained unchanged with a "click", but the teacup in his hand was crushed by him, and the hot black tea flowed down his trouser leg, as if he didn't realize it.

"Impossible.." Sidney's expression suddenly became agitated, "I've been careful enough... On average, it only happens once every two months, and no one is likely to find out."

"No.. You weren't careless at all.." Renard smiled and shook his head, picked up his pipe and took another puff, "Do you remember the one from a month ago?"

"Remember.." Sidney replied with a cold face, "It's just a wandering little beggar.."

"No, no, no.. That's not a little beggar." Renard shook his head, "He is the youngest son of a certain earl's family in the imperial capital, and he sneaked out to take risks without telling his family... After the wayward boy ran away from home, the enraged Earl sent a whole team of guards to track down his whereabouts. That hapless boy ended up missing from your territory, Sidney."

"The guards who can't go back to your life have secretly turned your territory upside down, and they have really turned something interesting out."

Speaking of this, Renard sighed and said, "I can only say that your luck is too bad, those lowly civilians, no one will care how many times they disappear... But you just picked a nobleman... The traces you left behind are so obvious that anyone who pays a little attention will notice that they report to the Count, who in turn reports to the royal family. Now the people of the royal arbitration team are already on their way... Run, my dear friend.."

"Damn it.." Sidney stood up like an angry lion, paced back and forth, and smashed the things on the table as if venting, and the maid outside the door heard the movement and probed in to investigate, but Sidney yelled out.

Sidney gasped for breath, and finally calmed down, he walked up to Renard, looked him in the eye calmly, and said, "You're going to help me, Renard... You were the one who led me down this path in the first place, and now my experiments have reached the most critical moment... Just give me a little more time and I'll be able to break out of Type 2... I want revenge, I need time.."

By the end, Sidney's eyes were full of pleading.

Renard took a long puff from his pipe, was silent for a moment, and finally laughed, nodding briskly, "Of course, Sidney." We've been friends for twenty years, haven't we?"

"Thank you. Sidney looked grateful.

"But.." Renard continued: "You know, there is no such thing as free bread in this world... Join us, also, I need the results of your experiments.."

Sidney froze, a look of struggle on his face, but it quickly disappeared.

"Yes. Sidney nodded calmly, "But not until I avenge Catlyn."

Renard sighed and patted Sidney on the shoulder with relief, "You'll make it, dear friend."

Thanks to the two rewards of the eldest brother of "Forget Your Figure", warmly celebrate the birth of the first master of this book, and add two more chapters later! T-T.. Also, I saw someone in the book review area saying that I am mentally abnormal, and I have criminal tendencies (laughing and crying), and the blind man swears with his balls that the blind man is definitely a good person with a good heart.. It is said that human nature is complex and contradictory, to be honest, I quite like to watch horror movies and plasma movies, but I also like comedy and healing movies, you have to allow everyone to have a little evil in their hearts... The novel of the descendants is to let everyone vent some little darkness in their psychology, I think that if some negative emotions are reasonably discharged from the heart, life will be more positive and sunny... Okay, I'm done with my speech, go to the code word to save the manuscript, yesterday I saw an author in the same period who was ready to put on the shelves, and I was so scared that the blind man is still wet with his pants, these people are terrible..
