Chapter 289: Get Out
Krus vanished, into the darkness of the sewers. Leaving only the sorcerer embraced by the flesh-eating cotton to greet his slow and painful death. If he could speak now, in fact the Raven would have almost done so, cursing the damned Demon Descendant with the most vicious words he knew. But he quickly calmed down, perhaps because of the pain in his legs.
He couldn't frighten this flesh-eating cotton. Although the monster was now eating his flesh, the whole action was leisurely and casual, and the carnivorous cotton cotton treated him as a newly dead corpse. This made Raven wonder if the city's killers would actually throw the bodies of their victims here for the scavengers to eat. But the leisure was subtle, and the crow would scare the brainless creature at the slightest sound or vigorous movement, and the sorcerer did not want to do so when part of his body was wrapped in flesh-eating cotton.
Is there any way to get out?" Curse Crow thought with his eyes closed, although the flames were the safest way, but the development of Kalus's scruples was not nonsense, if the gas here was detonated, even the Spell Crow would not know what he would be blown up into. He couldn't take that risk, the Raven loved his body as much as knowledge, and he knew very well how long his body would have to support his soul, so he had to serve this fragile body with care.
The pain gradually spread to the knee, and the crow could feel that some of the tentacles of the flesh-eating cotton had penetrated into the wound on his calf, so that it would not be long before the branches with tiny sharp teeth would tear open his veins. As long as the hemorrhage occurs, the sorcerer's injuries this time will be very serious. Somewhere else has to be found. The Raven remembers every magic he knows, looking for a solution.
Its deadly "hug" didn't stop as the cotton-eating tentacles began to tear open the muscles of the raven's legs, and the suffocating sensation told the sorcerer that the monster's body was up to its chest. I can't wait any longer, if I drag it out any longer, I'm afraid I won't even be able to get out with some injuries. The Raven knew very well how difficult it was to leave the arms of Carnivora, so his eyes snapped open the moment he made up his mind.
The glow of magic burst out in the sorcerer's eyes, and for a moment the entire sewer was illuminated by the light in those eyes. "That's enough!" with a roar, the Raven's clothes inflated like balloons, and ...... Then it shriveled down at a faster rate like a leaky balloon. But this one shrank in a moment, and the person who was originally in the clothes was gone.
"Quack!" a raven with pure black wings flew out of the collar of its clothes, and if anyone could see it, it had many tiny wounds on one of its legs. That's what Cursed Raven came up with, and he chose to escape the cage that had been built for his human size by means of shapeshifting. It's risky to do so, though, as crows aren't sewer creatures.
"Bump!" With a muffled thud, the cursed crow, who had just escaped from the flesh-eating cotton, slammed headlong into the top of the sewer, his flight trajectory changing from a beautiful straight line to a crooked one, and the transformation not only changed the caster's form, but also made the gray-robed wizard as fragile as a real raven. The carnivorous cotton behind him noticed that the delicacy in his mouth disappeared, and let out a chilling "grunt" sound, and the tentacles on his body instantly became harder than iron.
Be careful, be cautious. The Raven kept reminding himself that he didn't want to be smashed to the ground by the excrement that fell from the sky while flying, leaving the injuries aside, an experience that a haughty sorcerer could not accept. Thankfully, the crow's mastery didn't scare the crow, and after a minute or two of flying, he was pretty sure he had gotten rid of the damn underground creature. He was also completely lost in the complex underground pipelines of the Molten Iron City.
A bird's eye cannot see in a lightless environment, but it is still stronger than the human eye. The crow in the sewer carefully picked a dry platform and landed on it. As its feathers gradually turned the color of its human clothes, the crow knelt naked on the platform, his contents left in the clothes, now presumably torn to pieces by the angry flesh-eating cotton.
The Spellcaster didn't really care about those things, and for a wizard from the Grey Tower, his real treasures would not be carried with him. Summoned the Grey Robe that had been taken off before, the garment given by the Lord of the Grey Tower to each of his disciples when they came of age and had an indisconnectible connection with its owner. Pulling a pair of boots from his robes, the crow didn't want to step barefoot on the sediment of the sewer.
After putting on his boots and robes, Raven stood on the platform and listened, making sure that he was the only passerby. It is enough for the meat cotton thing to happen once. Fortunately, there was no movement from the darkness around them, only the occasional echo of dirt falling from the top into the sewers. The Raven frowned, without the lead of Krus, there was no way for him to find his way back in this darkness.
The wizard hesitated to use a spell that would grant him dark vision, but it would also give him a striking light in his eyes, which was as obvious as a torch in the dark underground. Especially now that the crow knew that there were still a lot of interesting guests in this underground labyrinth, he really had to think about his actions.
Eventually, though, the sorcerer decided to use spells, believing that the glow of magic was more likely to alert the inhabitants of his danger than enemies that might be drawn. It's like a spot on a viper. The Raven was pleased with the metaphor he had come up with, and then the dark world began to change in his eyes. Magic makes the world without light outline a dull gray outline, this kind of dark vision cannot be seen clearly, but being able to see the boundaries of things is a great help for people in the dark.
Two pale blue balls of light made their way through the sewers, the eyes of the sorcerer. After passing through some filthy corridors, the passage in front of the Raven suddenly became clean. Obviously, these channels are not normally used. So, were these passages a preparation by the Hammer Grand Duke for the expansion of the city, or did they serve other purposes?
Curiosity drove the wizard to carefully step into this clean passageway, into the depths of this underground labyrinth.
