Chapter 1: Escape from Atlantis, Section 8

"How many days have you been meeting that prophet?"

Evelyn asked herself countless questions, but the truth made her almost hopeless, it was at least the fifth day since she met Iseca, and she had not yet left the forest.

From hunger and the repeated feeding of Claude's blood, Evelyn's cheeks had visibly sunken, and each step became heavier and heavier.

During this time, she also tried to feed herself on the flesh of the monsters she killed. But the strange thing is that no matter what, these monsters are like ghosts, no matter what they are, they turn into nothingness in the next second they bite down.

After several setbacks, Evelyn was no longer able to use magic to maintain the light of her blade, and she had discarded all her armor due to exhaustion, wearing only cloth clothes all over her body. Still, she felt Claude grow heavier in her hands—she was running out of strength.

"I must be lost......"

Evelyn thought.

She was even a little unsteady on her feet, and she had to hold on to the trunks of the trees around her to barely take a step.

The trees were all over the horizon, there was no light, no wind, and nothing could be felt except the endless void.

In a trance, Evelyn vaguely saw a red light directly in front of her, trembling. She squinted her eyes vigorously, and the red light gradually became clear, like a human form—not tall, but full of ominousness.

One, two, three...... The red light grew more and more, and not far away, behind the trunk of the tree, on the slightly taller branches, surrounded Evelyn in the center.

"Hoo ......"

Evelyn gritted her teeth and used almost all of her strength to lift the Starlight Sword again. Cold sweat oozed from her back, and her blurred vision was full of such red shadows.

For some reason, the red light just surrounded not far away, and did nothing else. Despite this, it still created a fear for Evelyn, who was already at the end of her crossbow, that she could not be dismissed.

"You, people...... What is it?" Evelyn's voice was almost hoarse to make out a few words, and then she coughed dryly.

Evelyn responded to the endless silence. No matter what Evelyn did, the red shadows surrounded her, silent.

I don't know how long the stalemate lasted, but Evelyn was no longer able to breathe. For some second, his strength seemed to be completely drained, his limbs were no longer controlled by his brain, and his knees slammed to the ground. She subconsciously hugged little Claude, and the starlight sword fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

Evelyn gasped heavily, but each breath was harder than the previous second. She sat almost slumped on the floor until her fingertips began to go numb.

At this moment, the group of red shadows approached unusually quickly, stopping a few meters away from Evelyn, leaving no gap. The space around that circle was illuminated by this strange red light. Then, one of the monsters slowly leaned in.

Evelyn struggled to look up, but was horrified to find that she was so close to her glowing face that her hands holding little Claude hung limply.

Yes, it had no breath, no temperature, like the coldest air of the night, but the second it came into contact with it, the bone-chilling cold traveled through Evelyn's body.

What a horrible face?

His facial features resemble those of an elf or a dishman, but lifeless, and his eyes have no pupils but glow red. A pair of curved horns were born on his forehead, and bad omen was written on them, and his ears were pointed like sword blades far away.

The monster's limbs were surprisingly slender, and they were extremely incongruous with this body. Behind its feminine body is a pair of huge bat-like wings, which are folded over its back and spasm irregularly.

Evelyn's eyes widened and beads of sweat covered her forehead—fear began to consume the exhausted elven swordsman with impunity. She began to tremble uncontrollably, and even felt that death had begun to fall.

Yes, from the beginning of her life to the present day, such a monster, never seen, not even heard.

The monster clinging to Evelyn caressed Evelyn with her long, wet hands, starting with her face, sliding down her neck, then her chest, her abdomen, ...... Wherever the monster's hands passed, they left behind an unusually strong viscous liquid that made Evelyn retch several times and was on the verge of despair.

The cloth hissed under the corrosive effect of the liquid, gradually turning to ashes, and the pain of burning flesh made Evelyn miserable.

"Wow...... Wow......"

Little Claude seemed to feel the presence of this group of monsters, and his cry broke the deathly silence. It's just that Evelyn is powerless to resist, and the ultimate means of protection is to cover him as much as possible with the flannel wrapped in little Claude.

Evelyn knew that these actions were in vain.

"You...... You guys...... Result...... What is it?"

Evelyn's voice was angry and more fearful. It felt so strange to her, born out of the unknown and powerless, and finally returned completely to the surface of the body.

The monsters didn't pay attention, instead being excited about the smell of blood emitted by the slime corrosion. The monster clinging to Evelyn stroked the "prey" in front of her over and over again, and the more she trembled, the more excited it became.

The monster groped several times, perhaps confirming that the "prey" in front of it was not threatening, and two more of its kind surrounded and began to push and whip Evelyn continuously......

Evelyn groaned in pain, but her voice was quickly drowned out by the blood gushing from within.

With a violent slap from one of the monsters, Evelyn fell limply to the ground. At this moment, her body is miserable: her clothes are not possessed, and her body is incomplete. Blood, mucus, wounds...... The only proof that she wasn't dead was the rapid, interrupted breathing and the spasms of the nerves irritated by the pain.

Evelyn was lying on the ground, her hearing was failing, and several monsters were already surrounding Little Claude on the other side of her blurred vision.

In this endless darkness, the red light emitted by these monsters lingered like a nightmare.

"I'm sorry...... Princess Angelina: I'm sorry...... Claude. ”

These were almost the last words in Evelyn's heart.

"Shhh...... Hiss ......"

The monsters suddenly went berserk, and their roars were more disgusting than their size! A star-like glow tore through the red terror and pulled Evelyn back from the brink of confusion. Starlight revived her senses, and now, the pain brought her to her senses again.

She was pleasantly surprised to find that the monsters couldn't touch little Claude's body, and their form seemed to be fading because of the light!

Fallen Star! The power of starlight

The Fallen Star Pendant, blessed by the ancient elven mage, contains the purest starlight. Light the way for the lost and light the way for the lost. The filthy creatures of evil were eventually unable to resist the power of the elder elven mage, and while the light was not enough to kill all the monsters, it was able to protect little Claude from harm.

The monsters didn't give up, roaring and swarmed up. As their evil bodies surrounded little Claude, the Fallen Star burst into an unprecedented glow that made it almost impossible to open your eyes.

At that moment, Evelyn clearly saw an elegant and pure white figure, dressed in an elegant white robe, with a gentle smile on her face, and opened her arms to little Claude, as if she could dispel all darkness.

The closest ones fell to the ground in extreme pain, and the glowing red bodies were opened by the shining starlight. The monster struck by the starlight fell to the ground, screaming and writhing in pain, but the hole in its body was the size of gravel at first, and then cracked. The crack grew larger, and the white light shone brighter and brighter inside them, until it burst through their bodies. In the next second, their eyes lost their light, leaving only empty sockets.

The rest of the monsters were obviously stunned by the Fallen Star, and they all moved away from Evelyn, retreating to a distance of more than ten meters, although they had not yet left, they did not dare to step forward at will. The light of the fallen star gradually dimmed as the monsters fled.

The light apparently dispelled Evelyn's fears as well. As a sage-level warrior, she should not give up lightly at this moment.

Evelyn could no longer stand, so she turned over in pain and crawled to little Claude's side with all her might. She took Claude into her arms, stroked the smiling baby in the light, looked at him with a smile, and once again covered him with the flannel that had been lifted.

Evelyn smiled and muttered to the baby who was watching her lick her fingers:

"Don't worry, little one, I won't be scared anymore. No matter what happens, I will watch over you......"
