Chapter 42 Moses Goes to Pharaoh Ramses

Ten Moses continued to walk, forty years have passed, the surname of the royal city has been rewritten, and no one cares about the little thing he killed in the first place.

Even if someone cares, after forty years, no one will be able to recognize him.

In a wilderness near the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived, Moses came across his brother Aaron, who had been ordered by God to meet him.

When the two brothers saw each other, their eyes were blurred with tears, hugging each other, and facing each other on a blind date.

And Moses told Aaron of the words that Yahweh had sent him, and of the signs which he had commanded him to do, and Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of Israel. And Aaron told him all that Yahweh had spoken to Moses, and he performed the miracles in the eyes of the people, and the people believed. When the Israelites heard that Yahweh was on them and searched their afflictions, they bowed their heads and bowed down.

So Moses and Allen set out for the Egyptian royal court to meet the current pharaoh Ramses II. Fearing for Moses' safety, Zipporah left her youngest son in the care of her eldest son, and the two brothers went together.

When she reached the city of Thebes, the capital of a hundred gates, Sipora sighed for a while, since she was born, she has never left the land of Midian, and she never knew that there would be such a majestic city in the world.

Moses also lamented that he had grown up in the city, and that he had spent the first forty years of his life with his adoptive mother's father, Pharaoh Amenhotep IV Pharaoh Ehnatun, when he moved his capital to Amarna in central Egypt. Later, with Pharaoh Tutankhamun returning to Thebes, he returned. It was then that he no longer had the right to dwell in the court.

The three Moses stood outside the walls of the palace and said to the guards guarding the gate, "Tell the honorable Pharaoh that the deceased Moses has come to visit." ”

Ramses II was enjoying the song and dance of the foreign land, and when he heard the name of Moses announced by his attendants, he frowned, and then waved his hand to bring Moses and the others over.

When he saw the son of his old man again, Moses could no longer see a trace of his youth in Ramses II, but saw boundless power, far superior to his father and ancestors, and far superior to the previous Egyptian kings that Moses had seen.

When Ramses II saw Moses, he was able to match the aged face with the middle-aged man in his memory.

"It's been forty years since we last met, Your Majesty Ramses. ”

Moses decided to get close to the king of Egypt in order to facilitate his actions. Ramses used to be his grandfather's name, but it is said that when his father went into the underworld to welcome the gods, he changed his name so that he should not forget his grandfather's aspirations.

"Yes, I remember the last time I saw you with my father, I was not yet ten years old, and now I am old, let alone you. It was also rare to see an old man who could talk, and Ramses II did not mind a casual conversation with Moses.

Moses sighed, "Pharaoh, when you are still in the prime of life, and the land of Egypt is gradually regaining its former glory under your leadership. ”

With that, Moses took his palm and tapped the ground, showing that he was tired and inadequate.

The corners of Ramses II's mouth curled slightly, noncommittal, and then said lightly: "These are all great works of the god Amun, and they have nothing to do with me, the pharaoh of the world. Tell me, what is the matter with you, a fugitive who has returned to the capital of a hundred doors to find me?"

Perhaps others did not know that Moses was a fugitive, but Ramses received a message from the old priest of the palace when Moses arrived, telling him that Moses had escaped from Egypt.

Moses sighed and said to Ramses, "When Your Majesty was young, I remember telling Your Majesty about my true background. ”

"Oh, you say this, I know, you're Hebrew. But it doesn't matter, I can decree that you will not have to be subjected to the same hard labor and hardships as other Hebrews. ”

Seeing that Moses had not been to get to the point for so long, his brother Allen went and said to Ramses II: "This is what the Lord God of Israel says: 'Let my people go, and keep a feast before me in the wilderness.'" ’”

Ramses II was no longer so friendly to Allen: "Who is Jehovah that I should listen to his voice and let the Israelites go? He knew that the people, whom they called the Hebrews, had always considered themselves Israel.

But Ramses II could not let the Israelites go, and over the years, the life of the Egyptians has become better and better, on the one hand, they have recovered the lost land of the Egyptian gods, so that the foreigners who live in it dare not underestimate them. On the other hand, there were millions of Israelis serving in Egypt.

They did the most tiring work, received the least pay, but the success of their labor was enjoyed by the Egyptians.

Moses also said, "God has found us, let us go into the wilderness for three days' journey, and sacrifice to the Lord our God, lest he attack you with pestilence and with the sword." ”

"Moses, are you threatening me with your gods, threatening the Egyptian dynasty, threatening the Egyptian gods?"

Ramses II's expression suddenly turned cold, and he looked at the three people in front of him and smiled coldly. For Egypt, one of the most disgusting things about the Israelites was that they had been raised by the Egyptian heavens and the earth and blessed by the Egyptian gods, but they did not know how to be grateful, and they never knew how to sacrifice to their gods, but they did not express their gratitude in any Egyptian temple.

Four hundred years had passed, and the Egyptian gods and Egyptians, who had long since lost patience with the ungrateful Israelites, the Hebrews, had decided to give them heavy hard labor and let them continue to perish slowly in the days of sacrifice to their gods.

Then Pharaoh, in his rage, said to them, "Moses and Aaron, why did you make the people absent from work? I wanted to be exempted from your servitude, but now, I think it's better to forget it, and go and bear your burdens!"

On that day, Pharaoh commanded the overseers and rulers, saying, "Do not give grass to the people as usual, to make bricks, but let them go and gather grass for themselves." You still ask them for the number of bricks, and do not decrease it, because they are lazy, crying out, 'Let us go and sacrifice to our gods.'" And you shall put more weight upon these men, that they may work and not listen to deceitful words. ”

The overseers and the rulers came out and said to the people, "This is what Pharaoh says: 'I will not give you grass, but go where you can find it, but your work must not be reduced at all.'" ’”

So the people scattered throughout Egypt, gathering stubble for grass, and the overseer urged, "You must finish your day's work, just as you did when you did not look for grass." ”

The overseer rebuked the rulers of the Israelites whom he had appointed, saying, "Why did you not finish your work yesterday and today by making bricks in the number that you have made?"

Then the rulers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, "Why do this to your servants? The overseer did not give the grass to the servants, and said to us, 'Make bricks!' Behold, your servants have been beaten, but it is the fault of your people. ”

Ramses II ignored him and said, "You are lazy! You are lazy!" That's why they sent and said, 'Let us go and sacrifice to Jehovah.'" Now go to work, for this is what happens to you who want to be lazy and sacrifice to the gods outside. The grass will not be given to you, but the bricks will be paid in full. ”

When the rulers of the Israelites heard that "your daily brick-making work shall not be diminished," they knew that a calamity had befallen you. When they had left Pharaoh, they found Moses and Aaron standing across from them, and they said to them, "May the Lord search you and judge, for you have made us infamous before Pharaoh and his servants, and have put the sword into their hands and killed us." ”

When Moses returned to the land of Goshen at night, he prayed to Yahweh, "Lord, why have you been afflicted with this people, and why have you sent me away? ”

In the midst of Moses' prayer, a strange light appeared in the sky, and seven colored clouds rolled in the light, and the voice of Yahweh was heard from within.

"And now thou shalt see what I have done unto Pharaoh, that he may let the children of Israel go by my mighty hand, and drive them out of his land. ”

God said to Moses, "I am the Lord." I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but they did not know my name, the LORD. And I have established a covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they sojourn. I also heard the cry of the children of Israel being afflicted by the Egyptians, and I remembered my covenant. Therefore say to the children of Israel, I am the LORD. I will punish the Egyptians with my outstretched arm, and will redeem you from their burdens, and from their hard labor. I will make you my people, and I will be your God. Know that I am the LORD your God, who delivered you from the burden of the Egyptians. The land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, I will bring you in, and I will give you the land for your inheritance. I am the Lord. ”

Moses told the Israelites this, but they were troubled by their hard labor and would not listen to him. Jehovah said to Moses, "Go in and say to Pharaoh king of Egypt, 'Let the children of Israel go out of his land.'" ”

Moses said before the Lord, "If the Israelites have not listened to me, how can Pharaoh listen to me, a foolish man?"

Then Jahweh told Moses about Israel's being Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, and told him about the twelve sons and one daughter born to Israel, and told Moses all the lines of the twelve branches of Israel, so that Moses could gain the trust of the Israelites.
