postscript

At this point, the first volume of the Four Winds, "The Wind Rises in the West", has ended, and the second volume of "The Rainy Season of Ochedante" will begin.

In retrospect, the story of this volume takes place in the autumn of the 169th year of the Agetsu calendar, starting on the 4th day of the festival month and ending on the 18th day of the god month, which lasted for 45 days.

During this period, the young Jude leaves his hometown of Lambertine by accident or necessity and embarks on a journey, successively to Southwind Village, Langlens, Snowfall and other places, makes a three-year covenant with Linda, witnesses the catastrophe of Lamberting, experiences the disagreements of the "Flower Blade" team, and finally a series of events in the north.

There are some things that should not be expressed in the article, so I would like to talk to you a little bit about it at this time.

-

1. Jude

There is no doubt that Jude is the male protagonist of the Four Winds, the experiencer of all the stories, and the viewpoint character of most of the narrative throughout the text.

Many friends have spoken of Jude's immaturity of mind, and it is true.

At the moment he is just a teenager, very smart and simple. He will be impulsive, paranoid, ecstatic, sad and lonely, and he will experience many people and love and hatred for the first time, and he will understand and grow between gains and losses.

Jude in the first volume is generally an image of confidence, enthusiasm, and integrity. He is jealous and hateful, and does not want to see innocent people deceived and harmed.

As a mage, he always tries to do the best he can, even if he doesn't have the power to do it a lot of the time.

Some friends attribute all kinds of losses to Jude's lack of intelligence, which I don't think is appropriate.

The result is not only determined by ability, but also by many psychological, interpersonal and on-the-spot factors.

On the contrary, as a mage, Jude is gifted with great understanding, divergent thinking, logic, and memory.

When studying, he can always get twice the result with half the effort, and even if he used to be playful, he can easily complete the courses of Stanxiu.

When he is on the scene, he can also ensure a sharp mind, analyze the situation based on observation, and make judgments.

It's just that Jude, who has just set foot in society, has almost zero foundation in terms of experience, experience, dealing with people, and temperament, so he has repeatedly hit a wall in the stories of this volume.

In addition, there are some weaknesses in the juvenile mind, such as being too simple, easy to inflate themselves, occasionally impulsive or paranoid, and so on.

I believe that readers and friends can see the shadow of their youth from Jude, and feel something.

Second, Linda

Linda is the only heroine of the Four Winds, the beginning, end and record point of Jude's journey.

About Jude's "trance" inside the ruins of O'Sharon:

Jude was a teenager after all, and grew up in an isolated environment, and the only woman of the same age he had seen since he was a child was Leia.

Such a teenager naturally lacks concentration in front of Linda (or other girls) and is flustered.

is like an otaku in reality, in front of his own goddess, most of them lack concentration...... Right?

A series of encounters in the ruins of O'Sharon can be described as a variety of subversive Jude's three views, and he is indeed very "trance".

As for why Jude trusts Linda unconditionally and vows to protect Linda, he can't even believe where he got the courage, it is not "love at first sight" that can be explained.

This is obviously illogical on the surface, so I won't spoil the inside story, readers and friends take a look at it, the story of the four winds is long.

-

3. Nosa

Nossa is an important character of the Four Winds, Jude's sword mentor and, to some extent, a "life mentor".

As one of the twelve seats in the Star Dome, Nossa "Greylight" has top-notch power, but he is very low-key, always calling himself a bounty hunter.

In terms of personality, Nosa is sleek, sophisticated, easy-going on the surface, but in fact very shrewd at heart, and he teaches Jude many experiences in dealing with others, and the two are "teachers and friends".

It can be said that Nosa is an "ideal state" that Jude envisions, and he is trying to become a sword warrior like Nosa, both in terms of ability and heart.

Fourth, the "Flower Blade" team

The "Flower Blade" team shows the lives of ordinary adventurers at the bottom of the human kingdom of Ankanal.

In addition to our filial son Ulric, the original "Flower Blade" team consisted of four people: Lucius, Alyssa, Cathy, and Rowan.

Lucius is easy-going on the surface, but in fact very assertive, full of leadership temperament, patient and responsible, good at boosting morale and coordinating team relations, almost perfect, the only mistake (and fatal mistake) is to overestimate Jude.

His sister Alyssa, on the other hand, is very lively on the surface, but in reality she lacks assertiveness. The brother and sister have experienced the devastation of war in their hometown, the fragmentation of their family, and their displacement to Lanlens, where they have experienced many hardships, but they still live optimistically. Until Lucius' death shatters hope and makes Alyssa completely devastated.

Cathy is Alyssa's best friend, an autonomous woman who is calm, intelligent, professional, and doesn't talk much but always hits the nail on the head. A female friend once told me that "there is an indescribable flow of emotions between girlfriends", so when Alyssa was hit, Cathy was the first to stand up and denounce Jude.

Rowan is an easy-going man, calm and quiet, who has experienced a lot, is patient and reliable, and always quietly fulfills his duties. Rowan was also a coordinating team, but the flame breath of his mother brought back memories of his past fears and caused him to collapse (similar to PTSD).

The original "Flower Blade" team was actually in a state of harmony, although they could only look up to high-paying and difficult tasks, although they were financially constrained and often had to save money, they were actually quite happy.

And they were lucky enough to sign up for the "Sword and Rose" tournament and easily advance one after another due to good luck. Of course, that's why I met Jude.

Cathy wasn't wrong, Jude's addition upset the balance.

-

1. "Sword and Rose" tournament

In fact, it was all a matter of luck for the "Flower Blade" team to advance to the finals, and they had no chance of winning against the "Radiant Oath".

The situation on the scene also showed this, even if Jude started to take down "Dawning Knight" Byrne with lightning skills, the combat power and tactics of both sides were not at the same level.

Later, although Jude used his pocket watch to turn the tide, he still suffered a loss from the divine punishment technique due to his lack of experience.

Note: Divine punishment is a very advanced divine skill, and only an existence like the archbishop can cast it at will, and Leia and Elise were able to successfully cast it because of their strong will at the "critical" moment. This is the nature of magic (especially the Holy Light Magic), and frankly, Leia and Elise were also thinking of "giving it a go" at the time.

Jude has little understanding of magic and magic, so it is naturally impossible to know. In his mind, magic is used to heal illnesses and injuries, and to protect or assist teammates.

In addition, Lucius declared before the war that Elise was basically incapable of fighting, and she admittedly did not show offensive ability in the previous battles.

So Jude reversed the situation and then reversed it.

In fact, this already shows that Jude is not strong enough to be able to take a four, but unfortunately he doesn't realize it.

When Jude woke up, he was very remorseful, but his teammates comforted, praised him, and even adored him, causing the teenager to gradually develop the illusion that I was almost close to victory, but I missed out on the championship because of a small mistake, and that I was super strong, but I just had to avoid capsizing in the gutter next time.

Based on the self-aggrandizement of the young mind, I think you must have experienced it more or less when you were young.

It's hard to talk about right or wrong here, after all, Jude has such a heart, and the members of the "Flower Blade" team can't blame Jude, right.

-

2. Hunt down thieves

As for why he was caught by thieves, it is not difficult to understand that Jude is simple and kind, and has lived in Lambertine since he was a child, and has never dealt with all kinds of people in society.

Besides, the thief was only a little boy, and the only thing he stole was some bread, and Jude took pity on him, and mislooked at the other man, thinking that as long as he held down his shoulder, the thief would not be able to escape.

Although there were many twists and turns, Jude's combination of quick wits and spells finally succeeded in catching the thief.

When distributing the bounty, Lucius offered to give Jude an extra share, and the team members gladly accepted, but Jude refused to accept it.

From Lucius's point of view, there was nothing wrong with that, after all, Jude had the most credit and deserved this reward. But from Jude's point of view, he further inflated himself and deepened the illusion of being able to "take four belts".

-

3. Defeat monitor lizards

A series of events gradually gave Jude the illusion, and also made Lucius and the team members have the illusion that everyone began to feel that "the law is invincible", and then there will be a defeat in the crusade against the monitor lizard.

In fact, no one in Team Flowerblade (including Jude) had ever seen a monitor lizard, and Lucius had only hearsay, looking up information or asking others for information.

Jude is also weak, he shows that he is not sure, and he has never even seen a monitor lizard, but Lucius claims that he has made a "perfect plan", and the adoration of Alyssa has succeeded in "fooling" Jude into faith.

So a group of adventurers who didn't know how powerful the monitor lizard was, sent it to the door.

As for the Slowness Technique, which Jude used to hunt rabbits, squirrels, or the like, he never felt that he could defeat the enemy. Moreover, regular enemies can be defeated with just one trick of the Arcane Star Bullet or Lightning Technique, and they have never been used in actual combat, until Cathy reminds him of it, and he remembers it instantly.

As for the decisive sneak attack, Jude's mana was exhausted at that time, and the pocket watch had not yet cooled down, so there was no other way. His teammates have high hopes for him, and he is anxious, and Alyssa's incessant calls make her pleas even a little desperate...... All this caused him to forget the threat of sweeping the tail that Lucius had warned about before the battle, and rushed up from behind the mother of the monitor lizard to sneak attack, so Lucius died in order to cover the boy.

-

4. Disagreement

The defeat of the monitor lizard resulted in the death of Lucius, which in turn led to a split between the "Flower Blade" team.

It's hard to tell which is right and which is wrong, so you might as well look at it from the perspective of different characters at the time.

Jude: I've done my best, even at the cost of my life, I've done my best and done my best, what else do you want me to do? I said I'm not sure, I haven't been fooled by you? Why don't you want to blame me for your own problems?

Alyssa: You killed Lucius! I don't listen, I don't listen, you killed Lucius!

Cathy: If it weren't for your reckless rush, how could Lucius have died to save you, causing Alyssa to be heartbroken? Further, if it weren't for you, how would Lucius have been entrusted with the crusade against the monitor lizard? Your arrival has upset the balance of our team, and the main responsibility for all of this lies with you.

Rowan: I'm sorry...... I'm sorry...... I'm sorry......

Jude, who was new to society, realized that people value results rather than effort, and that he thought he had done his best and should not take too much responsibility, but this was not the case.

As for who is more responsible for the failure of the "Flower Blade" team to defeat the monitor lizard, some of my friends think it is Jude, and some think it is Lucius. I don't know the answer to this, but you readers and friends can also express your own opinions.

5. Leia and the Church

From a design point of view, Leia's character is positioned as a sister, a girl next door or a childhood sweetheart, and for Jude, she is roughly the epitome of Lambertin.

Leia knew the truth about the saint from the beginning, but Jude thought she didn't.

Although she tried her best to hide it, after all, Leia was also nervous and scared, so Jude saw some clues and was convinced of Nosa's speculation.

The Cult of Light is generally a positive image in the Four Winds, and Archbishop Alphonsos Tao is more or less a "strict teacher" to Jude, and the two clash fiercely in the story of this volume, mainly due to misunderstandings and communication problems.

Necromancer Mordres was originally a mage apprentice with little combat experience, which was reflected in his poor tactical thinking during the Battle of the Cathedral in the Wind District.

Despite being a powerful necromancer, Modres' body is still mortal, and she is just as fragile when she loses her spell protection.

More inside stories about Modres and the Holy Maiden will be in the second volume, so I won't spoil them for the time being.

The first volume has just been completed, and the author is currently sorting out his thoughts and drawing up a detailed outline of the second volume, so the update will be suspended for a few days.

I also hope that readers and friends don't be in a hurry, after all, slow work makes fine work, right?
