Chapter 8: A New Beginning (I)

"Make it clear. What kind of restraint or seal do you have that I need to cast a spell to release you? What irreversible effect will this spell have? And you haven't answered me, what the hell is going on with this sword?"

Jude threw out a barrage of questions, but the voice fell silent for a long time, not responding.

This guy suddenly appeared like last time, said something that had no beginning or end, and didn't explain it clearly, and suddenly disappeared again. The boy's confusion increased again, and this time he was already in a very bad mood, and he couldn't help but have an opinion about the mysterious man who called himself "Itinavne".

Looking around at the ruined walls, Jude felt powerless, sighed deeply, and put on the strap to carry the black sword behind his back.

There is no going back to the old days, and the quiet and warm life is gone.

One last glance at Lambertin's bleak ruins, Jude took it to heart, and then turned to leave.

The boy drifted away in the morning light, letting the dawn stretch his shadow so long and so long.

-

Over the next two days, Jude headed northeast. He found that the villages and towns along the way had been badly damaged, and it was not until he got close to the Lanlens area that he found a town called Sylfest to settle in.

Trying to ask the locals about the townspeople, the boy found that the people here hadn't even heard of Lambertin.

The earthquake strikes in the middle of the night, but Jude still doesn't want to face the fact that everyone in the town may have died. In his heart, he wished them to find a new home, and if they were destined to meet again in the future.

Although it has a strong self-soothing nature, the boy believes in it, so as to get rid of the infinite loneliness a little.

The most important thing at the moment is to survive first, Jude thought, his home was destroyed, he was uprooted, had no relatives and no reason, and he was not familiar with life, and the only thing he could rely on was his own skills. He had already experienced that he had no land, no crafts, no business, and no source of income.

Fortunately, Nossa had mentioned that bounty hunters were quick to pay, and that Uncle Hughes had been walking as an adventurer in his youth, and the boy felt that this was probably a job that could be done by force and resourcefulness, and that it should be suitable for him.

However, Nosa is still mostly in the south and cannot be contacted for the time being, so how can he set foot in the industry and become a bounty hunter? Jude wondered. Do bounty hunters need to be certified, and where do they contact their employers?

The boy's first instinct was to ask passers-by, and the reply he received was: Selffest didn't have an office, but Lanlens did.

It seemed that he had to go to Lenlens first, and Jude was about to leave after thanking him, when the passer-by suddenly added:

"By the way, there's a village called 'Sylside' nearby. The villagers there appear to be paying for a hunter to take care of a wild boar that is causing damage to their crops. ”

Jude remembered the example of Nosa when he introduced "the simplest commission", smiled and thanked the enthusiastic passerby again.

He's experienced in hunting.

-

The next morning, the boy came to the village called "Hilside" and confirmed the details of the commission with the village chief.

The locals are all farmers, but this year a ferocious wild boar has come down from the nearby mountains to steal their crops, and it has gradually become more and more serious. The villagers feared that the big boar would give birth to a litter of baby boars the next year, and they feared that they would lose the grains, so they pooled money to hire hunters to kill it.

To put it simply, it is a wild boar hunt, which Jude is familiar with. He promised that it would be solved in less than half a day, and then he left his luggage at the village chief's house, and set out for the mountains and forests with bows and arrows alone, while some of the brave villagers followed him from a distance.

It was easy for the boy to spot the new movement of wild boars in the mountains, but he did not take it lightly, and the danger of wild boars was not low. These filthy beasts are accustomed to wallowing in muddy water, and in the long run their bodies are protected by a layer of hard mud shells, which are resistant to arrows and must be aimed at weak points. What's more, wild boars have a violent temperament, especially when injured or provoked, and will fight back against their intruders even if they risk their lives, and they are very fast in a straight line, which is not a small threat to hunters.

These were all the hunting knowledge that Uncle Ken had taught him in the first place, and the thought of Kenn Jude couldn't help but feel another wave of sadness in his heart. From now on, it was up to him, and the boy forcibly pulled himself together, turned his grief into determination, carefully surveyed the environment, and tracked down the wild boar following the traces of his activities.

The boy had hunted many wild boars over the years, so it didn't take much trouble to find the owners of these tracks, but he had never seen such a large wild boar. It was a black behemoth, five feet (1.5 m) tall and nine feet (2.7 m) long, estimated to weigh nearly 1,000 pounds (450 kg) by Jude's eyes.

No wonder the villagers were so worried and scared, Jude began to understand, and complained a little that the village chief had not made it clear before. But at the moment, there are still many villagers watching from a distance behind him, and as a hunter, he naturally can't live up to their expectations.

Before the giant boar could spot it, the boy tried his best to slow down, walked around its back from a distance, dived into the nearby bushes to observe, and then quietly took out an arrow and put it on the bow. Taking a few deep breaths, Jude removed distractions from his mind, held his breath, locked onto his target, and began to aim with precision.

Mind and body were one, the young man was full of strength, seized the opportunity of sudden appearance, and a sharp arrow pierced the air and shot into the anus of the wild boar impartially.

The arrow dealt serious damage, but it didn't kill the target immediately, and the beast let out an earth-shattering roar and turned around and charged at the boy desperately. Jude did not stay where he was, and after shooting the arrow, he hurried to a large tree, and climbed the branch with his hands and feet. Watching the wild boar under the tree in fright, he took a second arrow from his quiver and put it on his bow, ready to aim again.

However, the manipulated beast suddenly went crazy and began to pound and gnaw at the trunk of the tree, causing the entire tree, including the boy on it, to stagger. As the trees tilted, Jude nearly lost his balance and his aim was disturbed, and in a desperate situation, he suddenly remembered the fable that Nossa had told him at the time.

Maybe the bear isn't as stupid as the story suggests, but right now it's an angry, dying boar. Jude quickly took off his coat and threw it on the ground, and the giant beast really thought it was him, opened its mouth to bite it and began to shake it around.

Taking advantage of the pause to hit the tree, the boy quickly wound his arrow, took a quick aim, and shot a second arrow to the boar's head. Eventually, the beast crashed to the ground, lying on its stomach and trying to get back up, but it didn't take long for it to move.

Jude cautiously climbed down the tree, cautiously approaching the giant boar, and after confirming that it was completely dead, waved to the villagers in the distance. The enthusiastic cheers rang out, and the villagers, who had been onlookers, gathered one after another, rushing to see the corpse of the giant beast and praising the young man's superb hunting skills.
