Chapter 87: The True Lie (Part II)

"At first, I was skeptical of my findings. How can a war hero become a deadly scourge of our society?" another photograph appeared, this time with a family portrait of Henry and Elizabeth.

"Besides, as some of you may know, Master Kilroy and Elizabeth Sobel are husband and wife. Why would the master of Oceania betray his people, the mages he swore to protect, perhaps for love, or for a darker purpose?"

The scene flashed again, and this time Elizabeth was in the heat of battle, filled with the dust of evil darkness, causing the room to flicker with ominous omens. The projection of this hallucination is vivid and frankly recorded, giving everyone a taste of what it was like to fight against Elizabeth.

"Sobel is a Void Mage!a spellcaster who controls the Forbidden Elementals!!One Step Away from Sorcery!" Walken announced.

Another scene, this time a shot of Elizabeth sucking life from another mage, with a dozen other dried shells next to her swirling, dark body.

"That's Victor's team!" another voice shouted from the crowd. "They disappeared two years ago! I heard the lizardmen ambushed his team!"

Jules felt his heart pounding. The news they received was too shocking and horrific to be explained by logic. The tower's owner's wife is a murderer, a traitor, and now she's a void mage?

Moreover, the woman is dead! Ancient history! There is something strange and illogical about all this, but Jules cannot question the master, especially when people are spitting venom.

Walken continued to speak, waving his hand, shattering the picture.

"I also think I'm wrong. There must be some explanation for all this. Over the next few months, I followed Judge Kilroy and his actions, but thankfully found nothing. I'm glad our host is innocent, it may not be his wife, it may be a person who looks alike, a fool. ”

"However, as some of you know, Master Henry has recently received a new disciple. ”

The young man nodded, thinking of Gwen Song, the Lightning Witch. This cute, lithe little girl has been a regular visitor to the tower for the past few months. She talked to them and had a friendly chat. Many of them have plans for the girl and do small things for her in the hope of getting her attention.

"I'm sorry to tell you that she's also a Void Mage. ”

Another hallucination appears, this time projecting an epic battle between a group of girls and a giant spider in a salt mine. This vision seems to be viewed from the perspective of a participant, a shapeshifter. The gathered watched as she summoned pillars of sand to stop the spider's speed, but was inexperienced enough to provide adequate cover for her allies. As the girls were fighting, they saw Gwen shoot lightning bolts that poured down from the creature's salt-covered armor. The spider then bursts through the pillar and heads straight at the girls, sending several inexperienced observers staggering back in the face of the hallucinatory surreality.

Then, without warning, the spider fell - a terrible-looking parasite, half bug, half lamprey, with its carapace in the dark, stained with Ikol, and jumped out of the spider's ribcage.

"Shah, Shah!" the disgusting, vicious thing cried, its sticky, rotting body soaked with the strange liquid inside the sand spider.

The hallucinations stopped.

A couple of bystanders turned around and threw a handful, triggering a series of gags.

Walken waited, watching the crowd.

"Still, I thought my friend Henry Kilroy might not have been involved – until a dutiful agent handed me the terrible truth. ”

Another hallucination appeared, this time, showing an office. Gwen Song is with an older blonde woman. Henry and his acquaintances sat alone in their seats. When people saw the Paladin of the Tower Gunther Schultz in that secret meeting, they whispered under their breath. They are all obscure figures. Behind the shadow was a stone-faced mage, sitting behind a desk, looking exhausted and empty.

"Isn't that Mark Chandler!" a voice noted.

"Black Cat Agency?"

"Exactly the same!"

"Didn't he disappear last year?

"Oh my God, what the hell is going on?"

In the vision, the mages gathered together and watched the shadow of a girl, her ethereal body writhing in pain, her face visibly hating life.

"Jane ......" In the hallucination, Mark begins to speak Jane, and we are running out of time...... Tell them how you died. ”

"Dead...... I'm dead......" The gloomy "Jane" had the disguise of a dead corpse on her lips and her face blurred. Suddenly, the ghost cried out, a guttural sound, and the banshee's screams came and went, sliding the ice off the observer's spine. "Murder ... I've been murdered!"

"Witchcraft!?in Sydney?"

"Unforgivable!"

Vicious emotions exploded. Even Jules felt himself in a moment of tension, and he found himself willingly raising his fists and shouting angry insults. Isn't the world suffering enough under its yoke?! Who dares to bring witchcraft back to the Pure Land of Oceania? Just because they are the masters of this tower, they think they can escape such a crime against humanity?

The image has changed.

They saw a common hallucination of the ghost girl's death and Elizabeth's inhumane behavior. Jane's final moments in Noosa.

"Oh my God..."

"Oh God......"

"That poor girl..."

When the jet-black sun shone on Nosa's head, the crowd forgot their anger for a moment. When the ghosts survived, they saw Mark Chandler denouncing the rally, yelling at Henry, Gwen in turn, and becoming excited and agitated with each passing second.

"Put her in the room, Henry, put her in, and you'll know why Elizabeth is still alive-hah! You're all wrong! My poor Jane-if you hadn't hidden Henry-if-

Then, Gunther Schultz abruptly left where he was standing and attacked Mark Chandler. Without even reciting the incantation, Gonser reached through the gap between them, grabbed Mark by the hair, and slammed his face against the sturdy oak table. Then, Mark's soft body fell to the ground like a bag of fluffy potatoes.

The halluciation ended with Gunther teleporting to Mark's mind. The informant's view ended with Henry and Gwen alone in the room.

"Do you understand what's at stake now?" said Walken as he spoke slowly to the crowd, biting every syllable.

"Henry Kilroy - Elizabeth Sobel Gwen Song, they are all poisonous snakes in the same pit. Together, they destroy our society for their benefit! An immortal mage sucks life from his mage, an immortal void mage who takes life from others! Moreover, a new apprentice of lightning and the elements of the void! There is a snake in the egg, which, when hatched, is more poisonous than Henry and his wife!"

"And that's not all!!The paladin in the tower, Gunther Schultz, conspires!, a dog that deals with wolves!," Walken cried out in pain.

"For this family of vampires, livestock, and chattels, we are only food! We exist only to satisfy their thirst for power and to develop their own abandoned magic. They may not be like lions in public, but to them, we are wild boars!"

The crowd fell silent, and then, inevitably, their angry, unresolved emotions erupted into a staccato shout.

"Down with Kilroy!"

"Down with Schultz!"

"Save the Tower! Save Sydney!"

Walken angrily banged on the podium to control the heat of the crowd.

"We are now in a moment of crisis. I don't want to implement my contingency plan. However, when the Watson Bay shielding station was disabled earlier, it became clear that Elizabeth and Henry's plan was coming to fruition. So, in his absence, I took the opportunity to take over the core system of the tower. ”

Once again, he saw the following scene: a Leviathan, multiple Kraken, and a fleet of merfolk roaming the city.

Cries of fear and frustration erupted from the mages below him. They have family down there! Friends and allies!

"I'm afraid that this tower won't join the ranks of defending the city. Walken said coldly: "To prevent further complications, I have disabled remote communication. "I cannot risk the most powerful instrument tower we have falling into the hands of Henry Kilroy again. I have sent messages to Melbourne and Brisbane explaining our situation and requesting immediate assistance. If you're lucky, they should be here to help us clean up the city. and the arrest of Kilroy and his peers. ”

Jules felt his chest gasp. He wanted to believe. In fact, the people around him seemed to accept Walken without question. However, there are many aspects of Walken's narrative that seem to be inconsistent.

On the podium, Walken now confidently commanded.

"While Gunther and Kilroy are busy invading, we must keep the tower safe. Therefore, we, the Greys, will take on the duty of guarding until either of the other two towers arrives and brings the blessings of Judge Lin or Judge Luther. Do you understand?"

There was a hint of "Yesir" echoing through the uncertain crowd, more focused on the dire situation facing their family.

"If you're not with us, you're not forced to stay. If you want to abandon this tower to destroy the mages and vampires - I can teleport you out now, safely stored inland. The crowd considered their options, and Walken stuck to his words. "Friends, classmates, compatriots! We cannot afford to lose this war! Even if we can't survive, Sydney must survive!"

Walken raised his voice firmly.

"Yes!" the crowd shot back in unison.

Jules inadvertently did the same. His mind is mixed with all kinds of contradictory feelings, which are contrary to the reality of the situation in which he finds himself. A second later, the rank mages began to give them orders, but Jules was too focused on understanding their hasty orders.

There were so many things that didn't make sense to him. Why would a person so close to Judge Kilroy betray him?How real is the hallucination recorded by the lumen ?Besides, why would the Paladin of the Tower, as one of the highest authorities in the Tower, betray the institution itself? Why does Master Walken know so many of Kilroy's secrets, and why did all the secrets be revealed without consulting other mages? After all, both Ferris and Mage Lin are members of the Grey faction, and they only need to convince three out of 10 to get rid of Kilroy. Based on the evidence presented by Master Walken, this shouldn't be much trouble.

Jules wanted answers to these pressing questions, but was bewildered by the dynamics of the crowd. He staggered out of the room like a ghoul, jolting his shoulders with the others, not paying the slightest attention to his steps, while the others alternated equally in frenzy and confusion.

"Hi Jules, we've got the mid-section teleportation stack. "Frederick, his college alumnus, how about patting him on the shoulder? Lord Kilroy, a traitor, his wife is a vampire, he must be crazy if you ask me. ”

Jules nodded absentmindedly and hid his thoughts in front of his friends.

"I can't believe that cute little thing is also a Void Mage. She really looked like she had sore eyes. You know what? I even offered to take her out once?"

"Yes," Jules murmured, you say every other week. ”

"I'm worried about my sister, you know. I'm glad they live inland, all the way south of the western suburbs. It's terrible to be a coastal guy, hey? Where's your family?"

"Canberra. ”

"Luckily," Frederick quipped, using the conversation to disguise his growing anxiety and cheer up, Jules, we're going to hold the tower until help comes. I can't wait to see the video audition of this fiasco. Do they reckon they will fill the stagnant prisons, or will they be directly executed in public?"

"Who knows?" said Jules shuddered, despite the controlled climate inside the tower.

It took them a few chances to reach the halfway teleportation room on two bisected levitation platform routes.

More than a dozen guards were stationed in the teleportation circle, including Jules. The evoker was inside the hazy tower, listlessly taking his place. Usually, the place is an active beehive, and every corridor is illuminated by luminous signal lights that mimic daylight. Now, most of the passages are burned dark red, indicating that the tower is in isolation.

As far as the squire knows, as far as his faction is concerned, only Mage Ferris is currently in Sydney. Jules hoped that the shriveled soothsayer would show up and answer some of his questions. Maybe it's all a misunderstanding, maybe the judges reached a compromise. Jules understands that there are factions in the tower, but he hopes that in the case of merfolk genocide, only the so-called "human factions" matter.

Jules found a comfortable corner and sat down, meditating on the mana that had soothed the chaos of his emotions. Hopefully, whoever teleports through these circles will bring with them a call to "truth" that will dispel the twisted illusions that plague their current reality.
