If you don't practice the basic exercises for a long time, even if your Eight Pulses of the Qi Sutra and the Second Pulse of Ren Du have all been opened up, sooner or later they will still slowly close. However, sitting exercises go further than basic exercises, and the difference between this step is the general outline of the four major lines in the advanced exercises, and all the exercises must follow this general outline, that is, constantly digest and absorb the qi, and store it in your dantian. In fact, after teaching you the advanced mental method, when the qi in your body accumulates and gathers to a certain extent, your meridians will slowly open sooner or later, and the dantian will also form a sea of qi sooner or later. Now that Grandpa Tai is helping you directly open up the meridians to form a sea of qi, the consolidation of advanced exercises is particularly important. The four major exercises are interlocked, and the first link is the foundation of the next exercise. In our daily life, we actually use breath in various activities every day, and these breaths are very weak, and if you don't notice it, they are consumed and lost unconsciously, resulting in waste. Even if an ordinary person loses the amount of qi in a lifetime, it is enough for him to form a sea of qi. Breathing is to hold, that is, to keep these qi from being lost in vain, and your daily breathing habits should be corrected, and you will feel uncomfortable at first, but after getting used to it, it will be very natural, which will be of great benefit to improving your cultivation. Sleep is important because the time you lose the most breath is when you are sleeping. Although I heard my grandfather say that you can rest by meditating on the basic exercises, which is good in the short term, this is actually not true. After such a dreamless rest for a long time, even in an ethereal state, your consciousness is always circulating, and your body may be fine, but over time, your spirit will be damaged unconsciously. Normal sleep is necessary, or that sentence, the former ring is the foundation of the latter ring, when your breathing is practiced naturally, then it is much easier to practice sleep exercises, or to form a habit, so that you can keep the body running unconsciously, sleep work is when you sleep when you are not asleep and still practice the exercises. The practice of these three rings is to lay the foundation for behavior, and how to use qi in action is the last line, so that you can punch and break stones is to practice gong, but your foundation is weak and you can't control it well. Grandpa said that you have to be familiar with the four major lines in a month, which is a big challenge, but it is not too difficult, as long as you can grit your teeth and stick to these habits this month, you can do it without practicing in the future. The four functions of the four elements allow you to practice all the time, including daily life, and although you are no longer aware of it after getting used to it, the practice is going on all the time, very naturally, and you are getting stronger day by day. The other practices are all aimed at reaching a higher level, but the four major practices are a kind of benefit that accumulates over time, and the stronger the foundation, the farther you go.
