Chapter Thirty-Seven: The Uninvited Guest
Along the way, Tara laughed mercilessly at Magellan, but she didn't say anything to the countess. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. ļ½ļ½ļ½Uļ½Eć infoIn the Amazon Warrioress, the Countess is a respectable hero, not something to joke about.
But as they approached the temple, Tara's smile faded.
"Someone has been here, but you don't know who they are," Magellan looked at Tara and shook his head, "I'm sorry, they must have slipped in while we were out at sea." ā
"These are people I don't know. The countess shook her hand at the sparse trees on the hillside, "but I'm not sure Professor Magellan recognizes it." ā
"Just look at it. ā
With that, the three asked the others to stay, and they ran towards the temple.
The square was still calm, but there seemed to be a battle going on here. The marble was covered with marks from many weapons, including cracks, craters, and smoky black.
Tara shouted "Sawa" and rushed to Athena's temple, while the remaining two remained in the square.
"Tentative contact, leave the ...... as soon as you make sure you can't beat it"
"Going straight to a place where something of value might be hidden, to the point of being cautious, such an explorer should be rare, right?" said the countess, looking at Magellan with a meaningful look in her eyes.
"I'm not like them. Magellan sighed helplessly, "A group of organized robbers, pirates or explorers is possible, they come by coincidence, and when they leave, they are also ......."
"So, I can't remember an old friend?"
"No old friend of mine has such good luck in him. ā
"What if he came with you?"
"No, Edward has seen a lot of wind and waves, and no one has followed him so far without being discovered. ā
The countess smiled: "That's really enviable, when luck comes, there is no one, they are defeated and run away, and after they leave, they come back, and Lady Luck must be in love with them." But why did they not be able to pick up a large pile of gold when they were so lucky?"
Magellan stretched out his hands to the countess, deciding to end the conversation. This matter is indeed strange, but without a clue, there is no point in speculating.
At this time, Tara walked out of the temple with the queen.
As Magellan speculated, the queen was unharmed, the temple was intact, and in front of the "divine power of the goddess", this group of uninvited guests fled without taking advantage of it.
In fact, when Tara screamed and rushed into the temple, the queen was about to come out and use her divine powers to clean up the traces left by the battle, and if the three of them came to the square after that, they would only see that the situation was as calm as usual.
"It's a bunch of outsiders, just going on a rampage with intuition, otherwise they wouldn't have come here as soon as they got ashore. ā
The queen was right, for once ashore, everyone would head towards the center of the island, through the dense forest, to the village where the Amazon lived. No matter where you go ashore, this is the only destination, and standing in the village, you can see the corner of the temple on the hillside, and the white of the marble is particularly striking.
"That's the way all pirates and the vast majority of explorers do it. ā
"But it's likely that only so many pirates or explorers in a hundred years were lucky enough to escape from the islands inhabited by the Amazon, and by coincidence, they all came together. ā
Magellan could perfectly understand the countess's suspicions, but that didn't matter at all.
"You have completed your trials, now go to the temple and pray, the gods will guide you. ā
The queen ended the conversation about the uninvited guest with these words, and the countess and Tara walked together towards the temple of Eros.
Magellan shook his head helplessly and chose Athena's temple, and wisdom told him that it would be bad luck to follow the two beauties in.
The inside of the temple is just as grand and elegant as it looks from the outside.
The white marble is carved into graceful curves, and the firelight tints them a soft yellow. On the walls between the columns of the temple, there are reliefs of mythological stories, some of which are famous legends about Athena, but what takes up most of the space are myths of Amazonian origin.
In the reliefs, Athena is heroic, while Eros is glamorous, and the other male gods, though mighty, look rude.
Magellan followed the queen into the temple once, but the second time he came alone, he found too many things that he hadn't noticed the first time.
Walking up to the goddess, who unusually displays a fighting stance, Magellan bows his head and prays in the firelight.
"Goddess bless. ā
"What do you want, hero?"
A female voice rang out in the temple, but it didn't belong to anyone.
The moment he heard these words, Magellan was convinced that this was the voice of the goddess.
"I don't know if you can give me what I want. ā
As before, Magellan spoke in his heart, and the voice of the goddess rang out again.
"You're doubting the power of a powerful god, but I can see that your skepticism comes from reason, and that's right. ā
"But if you don't tell me what you want, there's absolutely no way you're going to get it. ā
"Then listen to this long, old-fashioned story. ā
Magellan recounted his experience and the process of coming to the island, which was more like sorting out his memories in his mind, after all, he didn't say a word the whole time.
"So, you want the Statue of Victory?"
"It's not. ā
"The key to open the temple?"
"It's not. ā
"And what do you want, Magellan the Explorer?"
"I'm not an explorer anymore. Please, tell me what I want. ā
The goddess let out a burst of laughter that echoed through the temple, which contained nobility comparable to that of the king of the world.
"You're asking a question that can't have an answer, hero, and that answer is in your heart, and only you can reach it. ā
Magellan was confused.
He never thought that one day he would face such a question, but he could never think of an answer.
"And what did the heroes who came here get?"
"Worthy of the reward of being a hero, with a reason to leave. ā
Magellan thought for a moment: "The same as theirs." ā
"But you did what they didn't, and you defeated the sea monster without my help. ā
"Then make the reward a little better......"
"Even a god can't estimate the value of such a thing. ā
Magellan felt that this goddess was a little different from the Athena he imagined, but he continued to bargain honestly: "The help of the gods is about the same as ten heroes, increase the reward by this multiplier......"
"Then there's not much I can give you...... War, Wisdom, Guardian, Leader, Lovelorn, which one do you choose?"
