Chapter 6: The Black Dragon
There are always accidents in the world, sometimes surprises, and sometimes the opposite.
The Countess had hoped to convince the Ministry that the Church was still a powerful ally, but when the discussion turned into a sweltering torment, the Countess knew she was never going to succeed.
The representative of the state church also lost the strength to speak because of the sweltering heat, and from time to time he raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead, and otherwise stood quietly, like a puppet.
That was the only good news, at least he didn't have the strength to help.
"Break the meeting. ”
The countess was the only one who had the strength to think and speak, and the people left the room like a flock of sheep being driven.
But anywhere else, in the entire city of Ruidu, there is not a single corner that can escape the scorching heat, and the whole city is in a scorching purgatory.
People stand in front of the window, staring blankly out of the window.
There, a city shrouded in clouds, buildings of varying heights cut the decomposition of heaven and earth to pieces, and tall pillars of smoke completely connected the clouds with the earth.
The clouds were like a curse hanging over the city.
Elsewhere, it blocks out the sun and brings coolness, but here, it's a lid that tightly keeps the stuffiness on the ground and torments everyone.
The world fell silent.
Everyone was silent, and the roar of the march could be heard in the distance, vaguely as if it came from the end of the world.
Then the countess felt some kind of tremor.
It wasn't a sound, it didn't seem to be a vibration, it was just some kind of signal.
Something happened somewhere no one knew.
But people were indifferent.
Until something huge cut through the clouds.
It was the corner of something massive, pure black, with its smooth lines and metallic texture, as if it were incomparably heavy, but also incomparably light, like the blade of a knife falling into solidified grease, quietly and effortlessly cutting through the solidified clouds.
It looks a bit like the dorsal fin of a shark on the surface of the sea.
The thought is like hanging upside down in an endless abyss, unsettling.
"What's that......"
No one answered.
Then the black thing started moving.
The massive thing cleared the clouds with a quiet fit for its size, revealing the impossibly blue sky behind it, and a corner of it that had been hidden.
It was a huge animal, and the first thing that appeared was its wings.
People began to have some kind of foreboding.
As if to confirm the premonition, a huge black head appeared in the clouds, a monstrous beast with sharp horns, jagged fangs, and flames beating between breaths.
"Dragon ......"
It was a black dragon.
The people on the ground raised their heads together, looked at what was happening in the sky, and opened their mouths.
The world fell silent.
Then the wind came from the zenith.
The massive dragon spread its wings and glided through the air, its body tearing the gloom to pieces, the massive beast looking down at the city, then breathing deeply, its chest and belly rising and falling like a violent wind.
Then everyone heard a buzz.
A crimson light fell from the sky and fell to the ground in an instant, and the terrifying flames rose up, and then began to spread at a terrifying speed, as if it could ignite everything it touched.
Natural disasters have struck.
"Do something!"
The countess rushed out, her right hand slicing through the air, and the glow of magic began to manifest.
In the sky, the dragon lowered its head once more, and it began to prepare for a second dragon breath.
The people finally began to realize their fear, and they looked at the flames and the charred corpses in them, screaming and running in all directions, but simply wasting their time.
No one could escape the black dragon's range, and the entire city, the place called Ruidu, was threatened by the dragon.
Then came the second buzz.
The Countess stopped, she looked up at a spot in the sky, preoccupied with maintaining the magic, and then a terrifying shock fell from the sky.
The blood-red pillar of light fell towards the ground and then took a turn somewhere in the air, like the refraction of light from the air into the water, the light of destruction deviated from its original purpose, and instead of hitting the center of the city and the crowds gathered there, it burned up large swaths of the wilderness on the outskirts of the city.
The countess lowered her hands and put an end to the magic that had been woven in an instant.
She was already feeling powerless, the black dragon she had never seen before had terrifying power, no less than a god.
And the dragon is already preparing for the next dragon breath.
The countess stood still, unable to do anything, she must not let anyone else see the strange metal, but without that power, the countess would be powerless against the dragon.
A figure rushed past the countess, and although he had broken his knee in the war and had always needed the help of crutches to walk, the Duke of Wellington ran ahead of everyone when the real threat came.
Of course, the Duke couldn't fight the dragon alone, and his target was the tower in the northwest of the palace.
As the most important place in the entire Brittanian Empire, the palace has strong magical protection, but the supreme defense requires the presence of the emperor himself or the supreme commander of the military department, and the duke does not think that he can fight the dragon, he just believes that he can run faster than the emperor.
Luckily, the third dragon's breath still didn't fall on the palace, and the black dragon aimed at the crowd marching in the center of the city, and the flames took many lives, like hell.
The countess saw this result from the trajectory of the pillar of light, but she was powerless to change it, the original essence power in the city was not much left because of the failure of the central tower, and the magic did not appear out of thin air, without the essence, the countess's power was greatly reduced.
In the midst of the Emperor's roar, the staff officers and generals of the military department were on the move, but they couldn't actually do anything, and the failure of the Great Tower in the center of the Elite District did not only mean that the countess's strength was weakened.
Just as the magic tower of the palace guards the palace, the central tower of the elite district also guards the city, and when faced with a powerful threat, the military department can requisition the big tower with martial law in wartime to gather all the essence of the city to deal with the threat.
But now the Great Tower can't do anything.
The dragon was already preparing for the next breath.
It's like a machine that never seems to get tired, indifferent to everything, and simply wreaking havoc.
The countess watched the hideous head turn, and finally aimed at the palace.
The chaotic military headquarters was silent for a moment.
The countess was determined to take a gamble.
