Chapter Thirty-Six: Clear-Heartedness
(In the book review section, some readers quoted scriptures and classics to say how Haoran righteousness is, and how it should be, to be considered authentic...... But in fact, there has been no conclusion about this concept, maybe you think you understand, maybe he thinks he understands, but to put it in my heart, I really don't understand, so, I know that I can go to practice, I don't understand, I can only write novels, fantasize, that's all!)
The next day, Chen Jianchen got up early as usual, his spirit was not tired at all, he was in good spirits, washed up, went to the college canteen for breakfast, and then went to class.
The content of today's lecture is the eighth chapter of the "Book of Virtues", which talks about how to be a person of noble character and thus become a gentleman, and there is a saying: "A gentleman is also humble and courteous, does not exceed the rules, does not fight with others, does not fight with the world, and is obedient to the destiny ......of heaven."
Chen Jianchen was dumbfounded when he heard it, it is undeniable that these words are all great truths, but the bigger the truth, the more empty and insubstantial, and there is not much merit in essence. If we do things for others in full accordance with these principles, then people will become pedantic and old-fashioned, inflexible, and to put it bluntly, they will be just old antiques who read from the book, and if they say one thing and do another, they will become hypocritical and cunning.
Therefore, it is necessary to adapt to the actual situation and keep pace with the times.
For example, the "Book of Rites" says that "a gentleman is well-mannered, and he must be dressed properly", which means that the etiquette of a gentleman must conform to the teachings of the sages, and he must be meticulous and upright in his clothes and hats.
That's a beautiful thing to say, but if you pay attention to these red tapes in times of crisis, then you are self-defeating.
Losing one's life for the sake of the right hat is what a gentleman does?
The so-called "code of the heart" means that the fundamental principle is unshakable, and there is no room for compromise.
It's like the reading atmosphere of the Tiantong Dynasty, everyone says "Zi is silent, strange and chaotic", but every festival, they all go to worship ghosts and gods, burn incense and paper, and seek wealth and luck.
This is the situation of inconsistency, that is, not firm enough in conviction and not pure enough. In this case, even if you read more than 10,000 books, how can you write like a god?
The way of Confucianism is to have no ghosts and gods in the heart, not to believe, not to worship, not to be afraid, in order to become the right way, in order to cultivate a heroic righteousness -- the heroic righteousness is the magic power of Confucianism, and it is the place where the self is protected and established. The so-called cultivation of the mind and the so-called extensive reading of books are all for the sake of this miraculous power and go through various processes, just with the Buddhist monks, ring the bell every day and chanting the scriptures, in order to achieve a positive result.
But in the process, if you don't understand it properly, you will often go astray, and you will cultivate your mind and cultivate yourself into a nerd, and if you are well-read, you will be filled with dogmatism, or some other messy things.
In this way, how can you know that "the insight of the world is knowledge, and the practice of human feelings is the article"?
Therefore, although there are many scholars in the Tiantong Dynasty, there are very few people who can really condense righteousness, and there is no one in ten thousand.
In this regard, Chen Jianchen undoubtedly took a big shortcut, with a pen to ward off evil spirits, the pen was open, he saw the true chapter, directly opened up the Mud Pill Palace, and got the true inheritance.
But even so, he needs to stick to his original principles in order to make progress and breakthroughs. Is it because when the land of Jingyang Village arrogantly came to Xingshi to ask for guilt for the first time, where would Chen Jianchen bow his head and confess?
This recognition is tantamount to overturning all his beliefs from the "Three Lizhen Chapters".
Ghosts and gods have a way, and Confucianism also has a way. In terms of beliefs, there is a fundamental opposition between the two.
It is understandable that scholars do not respect ghosts and gods, and it seems ridiculous to let scholars go to temples and pray to gods and Buddhas. What's more, the Yin God came uninvited and broke into his dream, which was already a kind of violation, at least he would be frightened, and at worst his soul would be damaged, in this case, if Chen Jianchen wanted to be polite to the Land Yin God, it would be really ridiculous and generous, I don't know what to say. If you change to another ordinary scholar, I am afraid that I will have to kneel and beg for mercy and let the other party dispose of it.
Then Yin Si did not hesitate to send Niu Tou Ma Mian again in order to maintain his face, and at this point, there was nothing to say.
Right and wrong twists and turns, it is a confused account, how to calculate it can't be calculated, the public says that the public is reasonable, the mother-in-law says that the mother-in-law is reasonable, and there are different statements for different identities and positions. In the end, it still depends on who is stronger. The so-called Xiucai encounters soldiers, and it is unreasonable to say. If you can name a flower with your incorruptible tongue, they will cut you down with a single knife; if you think you are righteous and selfless, they can cut you down with a single knife.
Good people often do not have good rewards, the root of which is not in kindness, but in the lack of means to protect themselves!
Chen Jianchen is a person from the past, and he understands this truth very well. Since there is no room for reconciliation of contradictions, there is no need to reconcile at all, and it is enough to keep one's own principles. If Yin Si does not relentlessly come to make trouble and provoke again, he will not flinch and retreat.
With this thought, Chen Jianchen was disgusted by the various teachings of the gentleman in the classroom, and the other party often stated a small point of view, and quoted the scriptures at length, talking non-stop, which was longer and smellier than the old woman's footcloth. From this, Chen Jianchen remembered an allusion: the doctor bought a donkey, and the book coupon was three papers, but there was no donkey word.
Probably.
It seems that if you want to pass the eight-strand literary examination, you can't take the road.
-- The original purpose of the Tiantong Dynasty's formulation of a rigid eight-strand literary form to restrain the world's scholars was to ossify their minds and fix their thoughts, so that they could serve the dynasty in peace.
Chen Jianchen had a clear understanding of this point, how could he still be able to enter this realm? Moreover, reading these so-called sage books would not be beneficial to the cultivation of righteousness, but would affect the independence of his own thoughts.
Chen Jianchen is no longer Wuxia Ameng, and he is no longer as worried about the problem of not being able to take the road of the imperial examination, in front of him, the world is far wider than imagined, and there are many roads. And when the opportunity is ripe, he will state the main themes and meanings in the "Sanli True Chapter" one by one, write an article, and spread it all over the world.
This is called "Speech"!
Of course, it is impossible at this stage, he does not have that weight and foundation, and if he makes a rash statement, he will soon be criticized by the population, and even directly executed by the imperial court for the crime of "heretical doctrine".
However, as long as Chen Jianchen himself completely understands and grasps the "Sanli True Chapter", that opportunity will definitely appear.
......
Sitting in the lifeless, backwater-like classroom, Chen Jianchen's thoughts suddenly became clear, and he suddenly felt a shaking in the mud pill palace, and there was a burst of light in the gray world, which suddenly flew out a large text and hung in the void, which was the full text of "Sanli True Chapter", the words are big, the dragon flies and the phoenix dances, and it is extremely elegant.
Righteousness!
In a flash, Chen Jianchen finally felt the existence of righteousness, it had appeared on his body, although it felt very weak, but it was a very big breakthrough.
There has been a gap in this world!
