Chapter 20: The Magic Rope
The thing was calcined, tempered, spun into silk thread, and then mixed with a silver fiber to weave it, and the final product was a white length of rope. Pen | fun | pavilion www. ο½ο½ο½ο½ο½ο½ γ ο½ο½ο½ο½
"Hmmm......"
Magellan, stunned, stood beside Professor Granger, who was busy drawing, and watched the fairy blacksmith hold up the rope with both hands, groaning.
"Any questions?"
"Better than I want and worse than I want ......"
Magellan didn't understand what Ellon meant.
The blacksmith shook his head and threw the rope over.
Magellan grabbed it, amazed at the weight of the thingβit was so light that it almost didn't exist.
"You are the owner of it, and it has been since the beginning. Try it, you can stretch and contract as long as you want, and you can always tie up what you want to tie, and it won't break ......"
Magellan expertly tied one end of the rope around his waist and threw the other end towards the pillar on one side of the hall.
Then he saw the power of the rope as he wished. The rope, which had been short, stretched until one end reached the pillar, and then, like a snake, wrapped tightly around the pillar.
Magellan stood still, straightened the rope, took out the Glory Emerald, and slashed at it with a sword.
The rope is safe and sound.
"Wow!" he exclaimed.
"Your exclamation may be a little too soon......" The blacksmith's voice was so small that Magellan, surrounded by surprise, did not hear it.
He bent down and swung his lunge, then jumped lightly.
With a scream, Magellan was pulled by the rope towards the pillar with lightning speed, and then stopped in a very embarrassed position - his side face hit the pillar, fortunately avoiding the misfortune of having his nose flattened.
"Actually, you can control the speed at which the rope expands and contracts. All I can say is that you're too desperate to see the rope abilities, Warrior. β
The left side of Magellan's face was swollen, but it couldn't hide the smile on his face.
"That's what I want, Master Elron!"
"Don't be in a hurry to rejoice," the fairy blacksmith mercilessly poured cold water on the happy Magellan, "the three sisters have seen you, and they have given this rope a fatal flaw. β
"What?"
Ellon took out his hammer and handed it to Magellan.
"It's so heavy!"
"It's not that heavy, but it's not light, at least heavier than you. To be honest, I'm quite surprised that you can lift it with one hand, it's a brave man......"
"And then?"
The blacksmith pointed upward, and Magellan threw the rope up the beam, hanging him and the hammer up and down: "And then?"
Ellon interrupts Professor Granger's sketch and brings him to Magellan.
"How?"
"You try to bring him up. β
Magellan thought it strange that it was effortless to carry a hammer that was certainly heavier than Granger's, so was it necessary to take him to try again?
But the blacksmith did so, and Magellan did not refuse.
Then he was surprised to find that the rope was out of order. When he tried to shorten the rope as he had done the previous times, the rope didn't respond.
Magellan shook the rope and wondered if he had made a mistake.
"That's not your problem, Warrior. As you said, people should only save themselves, and this rope can only save you. β
"So...... Is this an accident?" Magellan did not believe in fate.
"Yes, of course," said Professor Granger, who had been busy recording everything that had happened, and had not spoken for a long time, "Magic follows its laws, including all kinds of accidents, and there is no doubt that it is the spirit of words, or rather, the power of fate, that has influenced the casting of this magical artifact, giving it an indelible characteristic. β
"Okay...... I still like the rope very much, but I don't like it that much. β
Magellan thinks about it, not to mention saving others, there won't even be many chances to save himself in the future, he is already a professor.
"This is the reward you have earned for yourself, warrior, and it is meant to be yours, and whatever it can do, it is yours to choose. Ellon's words were meaningful, "Maybe you don't think that's what you want, it's because you haven't seen your soul yet." β
"Uh......" Magellan thought about it, thinking that he didn't have to care, he had never thought of rewarding, the purpose of this trip had already been exceeded, and whatever the defects of the rope were, it didn't matter," you were right. β
The fairy blacksmith laughed: "You didn't take the old man's words to heart, although I can't say whether it's good or bad, but I still like you." β
"My pleasure. β
"Ah, yes," Elrond seemed to remember, "that rope must not touch anyone but you, or it will break, and if you try to climb up the rope yourself, it will break too." β
"It's not that the broken rope can't be repaired, but unfortunately, the only one who can fix it is Master Elron. The king, who had been standing in silence, finally spoke.
"I understand that I will use this treasure very carefully. Magellan said this, and made up his mind to leave and press the rope to the bottom of the box and never take it out again.
"Of course, you are the master of it, and it is your right to use it however you want. The queen said with a smile.
"Well, then, Master Elron," Blutron nodded to the blacksmith, who bowed back, "we can leave, distinguished guests. β
Magellan nodded, and walked out of the kingdom, while Professor Granger stood still, still busy writing and annotating the sketch he had just finished.
"Let him stay here. The queen spoke understandingly.
"Well, I don't think this guest will be satisfied with letting him stay or not. The king said this, and at last obeyed the queen, "Let him stay." β
When Magellan heard this, he thanked the king on behalf of Professor Granger.
The king laughed, "Anyone who wants something from the goblin kingdom will eventually leave with disappointment, and the degree of that disappointment has nothing to do with the amount of what is desired, only with the determination of the desire. But with you by his side, the guest's disappointment will leave a little faster. β
Magellan imagined that Professor Granger was sorting out his notes and screaming that there were many things that he hadn't had time to write down after leaving the fairy land, and he couldn't help but think that the king was really wise.
"Your wisdom is admirable. β
"That's not worth mentioning. β
As they came, they crossed the narrow bridge and crossed the roadway, but Magellan found that they sometimes walked down the staircase, which ended not in the guest's bedroom, where they had set out in the morning.
