Chapter 31: The Mantis Knight
The merchant felt the fear, losing that rag was nothing, but if his cheating methods were seen through, a lot of bad things would happen.
So when the baron rudely took the blindfold from the merchant, the latter did not say anything.
He knew it was time for him to leave.
The crowd of onlookers was filled with laughter and yelling, which was simply something that everyone was looking forward to, full of surprises and satisfying.
However, they did not stop the merchant from leaving, and everyone knew that this man who had just made a fool of himself would not contribute any interesting performances if he stayed here.
But in the end, the merchant was not able to leave.
The baron roared and rushed behind Magellan, bumping into several onlookers.
This action ensued a complex chain of reactions, and the crowd was thrown into chaos as the merchant and Arthur moved.
It all started with an explorer stabbing Magellan in the back with a dagger.
The Baron was the third person to find out, and his reaction exceeded all expectations, including Magellan and Arthur.
As a result, the crowd fell into an inexplicable chaos, and the trio managed to flee with all their might.
Standing in a gloomy alley, Arthur let out an exaggerated sigh.
"I finally escaped. ”
Magellan looked up to the left and right, then reached out and grabbed the merchant who was about to flee.
In addition to the Baron, Arthur and Magellan, there were two strangers, one a merchant and the other an explorer who had just waved a dagger at Magellan. This dark corner was the most convenient hiding place in the chaos, and the explorer was pulled in by Magellan, and as for the merchant, he clearly knew how to hide himself.
"I've been thinking about ...... since just now."
Arthur was about to engage in a lively verbal exchange when his speech was interrupted by the shouts of the explorers.
"Let go of me!"
"Please be quiet. ”
Magellan looked into the eyes of the explorer, and then the man with the dagger in his hand fell silent.
Arthur and Magellan looked at each other, and then Magellan spoke.
"Tell me why you are pointing a dagger at me. ”
"You're Magellan, aren't you?"
The explorer was trembling, but Magellan saw more excitement in his eyes.
It's an unwarranted impulse of an explorer, it's pretentiousness, it's gambling on everything.
"The Holy See has put a bounty on the Explorers' Guild, kill you, and you can get a million gold coins. ”
Magellan was stunned for a moment.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the explorer broke free from Magellan's grasp and ran out.
"What is he talking about?"
The baron finally couldn't help but speak, he really couldn't understand such an inexplicable "motive for killing", if the person standing in front of him was worth a million gold coins, even the most worthless Elector Duke William would not appear in the wildest dreams.
Magellan sighed helplessly, he really didn't know how to explain the so-called Explorers' Guild to the baron.
Arthur knew it was going to be a long story, so he stopped the conversation between the baron and Magellan and went straight to asking the merchant questions.
"How do you know that the Baron has something of value on him?"
Arthur's smile is charming, but it's also dangerous, and bounty hunters are by no means the conformist profession of detectives, they always walk in gray areas, and most of the time they are closer to the darkness.
The merchant obviously didn't know this, and he smiled perfectly, and his mouth was full of nonsense: "I just like to amuse poor people......"
Then the merchant bent down in agony, and he let out a suffocating gasp as if he were about to die.
Arthur was so light that the merchant didn't even have a wound on him, but it really hurt.
"This baron, there has been a thief in the house, do you know that little thief?"
The merchant nodded hurriedly.
The baron froze.
Before the mighty knight could roar, Magellan stopped him, and in order to find out the truth, the baron decided to listen quietly to the merchant's end.
"He once boasted to me that there was an old knight in the mountains and forests, guarding valuable treasures, and he stole them. It was after that time that I learned about the Baron. ”
There were not many people coming and going in this bazaar, and those who were often here knew the baron deep in the mountains, and the merchants did not have much trouble setting their goals.
Then he tricked the blindfold from the baron with standard tricks.
"I thought it was worth a lot of money, but I couldn't sell it!"
The merchant thought about his current situation, and he was so wronged that he wanted to cry.
Arthur smiled, and the merchant saw hope in it.
"Last question, is your name Francis Sovasis?"
The merchant had a hellish look on his face.
"I'm done. ”
The baron looked blankly at the merchant and then at Arthur, who was completely incomprehensible to what was happening.
Outside the alley, the crowd that had been huddled together had dispersed.
"Let's go. ”
Magellan leads the way to the exit of the alley, followed by Arthur, who pulls the merchant Francis Sovasis, and finally the confused baron.
The people had forgotten what had just happened, and they made it to the Explorers' Guild without incident.
"So, the name is really valuable. ”
Looking at the task board hanging in the most prominent place, Arthur laughed.
"What?"
The baron's question was quickly answered, and Arthur handed over the merchant to the administrators of the Explorers' Guild, and in return he received a bounty of fifty gold coins.
The baron's eyes widened in surprise, almost like a pair of quail eggs, full of exaggerated comics.
At the same time, Magellan also saw his name on the task board.
"Magellan, a million Elizabeth. ”
Arthur whistled excitedly, "Can we discuss it, you will be able to get out anyway, right?"
"The quest can only be done in the Explorers' Guild near the large church, save it. ”
Arthur walked out helplessly, sighing exaggeratedly: "Are you actually afraid of science?"
"He's got his power back. ”
Magellan shook his head helplessly.
Things had gone beyond his expectations, out of his control, and the explorer seemed to have been born to destroy something.
And now, science has learned to harness that force.
The sense of danger became clearer, and Magellan knew that science really had the power to end the world.
"Don't frown, we just met with something good!"
The baron had no feeling at all about Magellan's worries, he finally understood what had just happened, and then the knight laughed happily.
"Think about it, a thief came over on his own, turned into a bounty, and fell into your hands!"
