Chapter 43: The Lizard
Alexey was awakened by freezing.
When I opened my eyes again, there was a thin layer of mist floating on the ground, the gas was cold, the temperature was below freezing, and it flowed against the skin.
The original white light in the room had turned into a flickering dark red, Alexei raised his head, and his first reaction was to look at the flat box on the wall, the silver-framed monster had already stopped chattering, and only a few bright red wedge-shaped characters were still displayed on the glass screen in the middle.
"Ahh
Alexei hugged his shoulders and shivered, rolled for half a week, and struggled to get up, the surface of the black robe on his body had been covered with a layer of hoarfrost for some time, and the icy chill was still continuing to flow and surge. Looking down, the light white cold air and the flickering dark red light sang and harmonized, and the height covered the calves, and with the rising speed that was now visible to the naked eye, it would not take about half a day to flood Alexey's chest.
"Can't stay here for long. β
He looked back at the flat box on the wall, which was still unchanged, and his brain, which had cooled down like his body, could probably guess that it was not some kind of intelligent creature.
"It could be a golem, or some other magical creation. Since Blue Dream was able to make a golem with Olmea, it wasn't surprising that other golems appeared in the place where she found Olmea. β
"Find the exit to the Lost Demon Zone first, and then come back here to study when you're ready. β
Having made up his mind, making a plan, and tracking the direction of the gas, Alex was pleasantly surprised. Not far away, a huge piece of material was missing from the silver iron wall, revealing a doorway more than a meter high, and outside the doorway, a yellow light that was different from that in the room flashed.
"Thankfully!"
Although he didn't know why the door, where no trace had been found, suddenly opened, the prisoner inside didn't care if the cage suddenly broke for some reason, and he was too late to be happy.
Don't miss this incredible opportunity.
Alexei leaned against the wall and slowly walked out of the gap, still stepping on hard metal tiles, but what he saw was a narrow passageway. There are "magic lights" lit every two meters on both sides of the passage, and at the top of the passage, light white cold air is being emitted inward through a grille window.
"Wherever the cold air is coming from, I've got to find something to plug it in. β
At the first glance of the grille window, Alexei immediately thought about several ways to stop the cold air from continuing to increase.
He didn't have many tools at hand, and his fingers were spasming uncontrollably, and although finding some clutter to block the grille window was indeed the simplest and most effective clumsy solution, with his current physical condition, it was probably impossible to even do this small thing.
However, Alexei is not depressed by this, the situation is bad enough, no matter how bad it is, after the loss of demons and addiction, it is not particularly difficult to accept one more hypothermia condition.
At most, it shortened the time for him to survive.
However, since the time to survive is limited, if you don't want to be frozen to death here, you can only find the exit first.
Alexei roughly observed the two directions of the passage - a half-open metal door with the same dark red flashes of light as the room he had walked out of, and a deeper part of the passage at the end of the passage, which was a silvery-white corner with a slight curvature.
Neither side was a good choice, at least neither of them was in line with Alexey's heart.
However, because the danger was unknown, Alexei felt that he could start with the nearest search, and he didn't know anything about this place anyway.
A choice in desperation. The lack of information made it difficult for Alexei to make any useful improvements to his escape route, and the environment of the lost demon was even worse, and without the aid of spells, he had no other way but to take one step at a time.
Try not to touch things that seem dangerous, because you won't know how many things in the world can kill you.
Try not to behave rudely towards unknown statues or shrines, because the more respect you have, the more tolerant the world will be for your life.
Try not to open closed boxes and crates unprotected, as you don't want to see a trigger lock engraved with a fire rune inside.
The above few sentences are excerpts from the title page of The Ruin Adventure Handbook, which is the same author as "Survival Tips in the Wild", two of the best-selling books in the kingdom over the past decade, and Alexey has not only seen both books, but also the author himself.
A half-elven alchemist who loves to explore.
He is not tall and looks like an ordinary man. Slightly pointed ears, a nose that lacks half of the flesh, and a weather-beaten face are not good-looking, but there is a different kind of free taste.
When he was young, he met Alexei, who was out to practice, and the two traveled together for a while, and they were half friends. Alexey also contributed a lot to his work, so the warnings on the title page of the "Ruins Adventure Manual" are particularly clear.
"Don't challenge your unknown. β
Alexei stood in front of the half-open, half-closed metal door, took a deep breath of cold air, and suddenly felt as cold as swallowing a mint. This made his mind calm, and he said to himself firmly and vigilantly to the new new world inside the door, "But I'm going to do it now." β
"Prudence will give you a better chance of surviving in the adventure, but fear will only make you die faster. β
Squeezing through the crack in the door, beneath his feet, where the white mist shrouded him, Alexei felt something soft on the soles of his feet, different from the metal floor. He looked down, a flash of red light, followed by two breaths of darkness.
"It's a corpse. β
"A big lizard. β
Alexei looked down from above, and with each red glow, his eyes could see more detail on the corpse: "A species I haven't seen." The time of death is no more than a day, but it is not excluded that the cold slows down the decomposition of the corpse. β
"The tail is about half of the length of the body, the neck is long, the head-to-body ratio is 1:4, and the front paws are obviously thinner than the hind paws. Each limb has four fingers, one of which is long on the inside of the paw and curves outward, with pointed claws. β
"Fine scales, light brown, with blue-white cross-stripes on the abdomen. The body is covered with white fabric, and there is a triangular badge with a wedge on the right chest. β
"There were no obvious injuries and no blood was coming out of the scene. β
"The cause of death still needs to be investigated. β
"But ......"
Alexei looked away from the lizard's corpse and looked away.
The room was more than three times larger than where Alex had been before, but there were no flat boxes on the walls, only a large glass container filled with a pale green liquid. The liquid bubbles upwards and passes through the transparent pipeline, turning into colored gas and discharging into a glass tank next to it, which is filled with the green gas that has been converted by the liquid. Alexei saw a row of six gray-white eggs wrapped in the middle of the gas, reminiscent of the lizard corpse at his feet, which was supposed to be the offspring of this creature.
"But what are they doing?"
Alexei came closer, and the color and appearance of the table, which was more than a meter high, were not much different from what he had seen before, except for a few more thingsβa lonely book with a cover showing a dark yellow book resembling sulfur, held up by a glass shelf, on each side of which was a metal clip that could be tightened, and on top of the shelf was a thirty centimeter long, U-shaped cylindrical metal needle.
"What is this instrument for?"
The mage looked at the glass shelves for a while, and finally vaguely guessed that this thing was used to turn books.
"It's a big deal. β
Alexei sneered twice and stared at the books on the shelves, "Could it be that this book still has a curse?"
"I can't rule it out. β
Thinking of this, Alexey's outstretched arm retracted again: "But, how did I smell magic on the top of the book?" β
This "smell" is not the "smell", but the instinctive perception and pursuit of magic by the mage's specialized organs under the lack of magic power.
There is definitely something wrong with this book.
Alexei stood still in front of the shelf, thought twice, and decided to open it with a special instrument on the spot, and then watch the after-effects.
