Chapter 3: Compassion
The ascetic had a calm face, he was used to it, the physical pain only brought him more peace, and this calm made the pain in his back clearer. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. ο½ο½ο½Uο½Eγ ο½ο½ο½ο½
Arthur pressed the man's shoulder blades against the sharp edge of the roof, and despite the cushion of the Mithril soft armor, he could clearly feel the screaming of his nerves.
There was silence in the air, not even the grinding of clothes, and neither Arthur nor the ascetic were motionless, like sculptures.
Arthur bent down and looked at the ascetic's calm face.
"You ......"
The sound of footsteps interrupted him.
A young woman walked into the alley, she seemed very uneasy, and subconsciously wrapped her clothes in the darkness and quickened her pace.
A dangerous smile crossed Arthur's face.
Like a bird of prey gliding through the sky, he motionless as he let the air flow through his body, silently watching his prey.
Then the woman stumbled, as if tripped over something in the darkness.
At that moment, Arthur jumped off the tall building.
Like a weightless shadow, he cut through the darkness and pounced on the woman.
Like a night owl pounced on a dazed and ignorant mouse, the woman seemed to be immune.
But Arthur pounced.
The woman suddenly screamed and sprang out, as if her mind had been destroyed by fear in the dark, and the accident made her lucky to avoid Arthur.
As if without weight, Arthur fell silently to the ground, like a fallen leaf, and he did not stop for a moment, and chased after the woman who had left.
It all happened for a moment, silent, and when the last shred of air ripples disappeared, leaving only the rats in the darkness of the alley and the ascetics on the rooftops.
......
Magellan walked down the street and looked bored at the street shops in a fog.
He knew the whole city, not just the dark alleys, but every street, every shop. Every day, when he walked into the fog, Magellan knew that something was going on in the fog.
This is the way the world is, Magellan firmly believes in it, but he still looks surprised by something.
For example, he was close to seeing the gates of the Royal Academy, but he hadn't seen Sherlock Holmes and Arthur yet.
Magellan knew that they had found their prey, and he just wondered why the hunt wasn't over yet.
And when he thought so, Holmes and Arthur were running after their prey.
The great detective ran wildly through the complicated alleys, and he did not hesitate at every fork in the road, but despite this, the ghost that had been swaying in the fog did not become clear.
"Watson, I'm in trouble this time. β
As they passed a bazaar, Holmes suddenly filled with footsteps.
Dr. Watson gasped and waved his hand, "We're catching up." β
His injured leg disappointed the doctor, otherwise he wouldn't have been so embarrassed.
"I'm not saying we can't catch up with that guy. β
Holmes pulled out his pipe, put the shreds of tobacco inside, and pressed them with his fingers.
Watson looked around in surprise.
It was a place he was familiar with, a bazaar away from the docks, where many of the stalls were black-haired and black-eyed Magellan.
And now, they are surrounded.
The ghost, which had been swaying in the fog, came to the two of them, revealing a strange face that was hard to remember.
"Hello, Mr. Holmes. β
"I'm a detective. Holmes took the man's outstretched hand and shook it.
"With all due respect, can you put aside your conflict with Professor Moriarty for a while in the recent past?"
"No, I think it's naΓ―ve for you to use the professor against explorers. β
"Yes, the power of the professor is far from enough. The crowd quietly dispersed, leaving a place to sit and talk.
The man politely handed Holmes and Watson black tea, and a strange-smelling incense on the table greatly diluted the smell in the mist.
"But we must use all our power to be able to defeat the explorers, the dark world of this great city, and that power cannot be ignored. β
"I know the Professor's power," Holmes said, taking a sip of his black tea and a look of pleasure on his face, "but the question is whether he's willing to trouble the explorers...... And whether the explorer is worse than him. β
"I can't give that answer. The owner of the place showed a frankness that would satisfy Holmes, "But in the near future, you will have an answer." β
......
Arthur blocked the woman in an alley.
He put on the most confident ferocity on his face, facing this young girl who still looked very young, and could even be said to be immature.
"Royal Purchaser, I don't understand that adult's bad taste, your face is really ......"
Arthur didn't go on, in fact, in his opinion, this simple, weak, not so perfect face was not ugly, and even had a certain charm that made people fascinated.
"How do you think there's something wrong with me?"
When the girl spoke, the impression of her face on Arthur was shattered in an instant.
"It's a game, you guess and I guess, the one who guesses correctly wins, you have already guessed it, do you still need to ask?"
"I thought my disguise was perfect enough......"
"The women who live in the city don't go into that alley because they understand it, and the women who come from outside don't go into that alley because they don't know it...... So, you didn't want to save those two righteous gentlemen......"
Arthur lowered his head, looked at the girl, and pulled a malicious smile at the corner of his mouth.
"You do look good. β
It was the girl who said this.
Arthur covered his displeasure with a cheerful smile: "If you don't want to save those two venerable saints, then why did you choose that time to appear?"
"What do you think?
Arthur smiled and put his arms around the girl and walked into an alley.
Just behind him, two ordinary men were approaching.
......
Holmes and his companions departed, and in the bazaar, the man looked at their backs from afar, until it disappeared from his gaze in the thick fog.
"You're trying to get the detective to befriend the criminal boss?"
"Yes. β
The man shook his head, making no secret of his thoughts, that it was indeed stupid to do so.
"You may succeed, but it may be a long time later. β
"We have to get Magellan, he's the most important pawn. β
"It's so easy for you to get him......"
"Hopefully ......"
......
Arthur stopped in the alley: "They didn't follow. β
"Weird, isn't it?"
