Chapter Seventy-One: The Cabin in the Woods

Countless explorers have died on the road to the Spring Spring, setting out elated, believing that they would become heroes, and when they die, like wild dogs, their corpses fall into the swamp to rot and turn into mud. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info

Still, the remaining explorers were convinced that they would be the first to succeed and rushed to the rainforest.

Francis couldn't understand what these people were thinking, even if the Francis brought the praise and gift of the king of the world, it would not make the rainforest merciful, the explorers were sending them to death, and the more they died, the less power Francis had.

He is the head of the explorers.

The Aztecs were very powerful, they fought the Mayans in the rainforest and were always the victors for a long time. At least until the Aztecs were captured, Francis didn't want to see any explorer lose their lives needlessly.

But things were far beyond his grasp.

Not only did the explorers embark on an unprepared expedition to the death, they even forced Francis to die along with all those who still had a shred of sanity.

Even the Francians knew that this had to be stopped, but he made the same mistake as Francis - no one could stop the explorers.

When enough explorers had died, the explorers finally remembered their leader, Francis, but not to admit their mistake.

They wanted Francis to organize an expedition, an expedition that all explorers in the rainforest would have.

It was foolish, and Francis believed that explorers willing to stay in a safe place would support him and stop the expedition that should not have happened in the first place, but he finally found out in despair that everyone wanted to start the expedition.

The explorers didn't want to wait any longer.

Francis couldn't express his despair to anyone, so many explorers died outside, but they didn't bring back the route to the Spring Spring, and everyone just died in the mire without a harvest.

But the collective decision of the explorers was that no one could fight it.

And so the expedition began, and Francis trudged through the rainforest, cursing the stupidity of the explorer for the umpteenth time in his heart.

That couldn't change anything, and his presence was becoming irrelevant.

After entering the rainforest, the explorers began to lose respect for the owners of the Mayan city-state, and they went on a rampage on their own terms, completely ignoring the advice of Francis' sanity.

And then people began to die.

Francis had imagined such a scene countless times, and he had thought that he would be happy that an ugly man who spoke disrespectfully to him had always shut his mouth, and that most of the people in the world had never had the opportunity to see such a good thing happen for most of the time. But when it did, Francis found himself not happy at all.

His heart was filled with fear, fearing that the rainforest would ruthlessly devour all explorers.

That means a complete failure.

But Francis was powerless to change anything.

Until five days and nights passed.

No more explorers accused Francis of being too slow, they trembled in fear, desperately begging Francis to take them back to Maya, to a place where they would not die quietly and turn into mud.

And Francis could only swallow the words that he had also lost, and continued in the rainforest with the same despair.

Then one day, he saw hope.

It was a camp, definitely not built by the natives.

"Welcome, Francis, darling of science. ”

That's a beautiful lady who shouldn't be here at all.

"It is my honour to be remembered by you, Your Excellency the Countess. ”

"You shouldn't be here, explorer, it's dangerous here. ”

The Countess of New Taipei County, a noble lady who remained untouched in the rainforest, met the lost Francis outside the tent, and there was no one else with them.

"I didn't want to be here," Francis smiled wryly, "but in the end, it turns out that science has already planned everything." ”

"If science is merciful to you, then his only purpose in letting me see you is for me to tell you," the countess laughed, "and turn away from here, or you won't make it out of the rainforest alive." ”

"I'm not going back, at least definitely not until I arrive in the Aztecs. ”

Francis's steadfastness was greeted by the countess's smile, and there was something in it that the explorer could not comprehend.

"You don't know what you're going to face, but yes, you still have the right to choose whether or not you're going to face it," the countess sighed, "I'm not going to help you, if you want to go to the Aztecs, go ahead." ”

"Thank you so much, ma'am. ”

The presence of the countess was enough in itself, and there must have been a clean water source near her camp, and Francis had long heard of the noble lady's extravagance, but Helen's excellence as an explorer was comparable to that of Magellan, far better than most people in the world.

Then, as he expected, Francis took two or three survivors and found a clean source of water in the rainforest.

The shadow of death receded.

"We found our way to the Aztecs and then went back. ”

No one could stop Francis, whose enthusiasm and self-confidence in science meant that the remaining explorers had to become retinues, and the Aztecs were indeed very close.

Three days later, they saw Tenochtitlan on a cliff.

"In Praise of the ...... Science"

Francis knelt on the ground and kissed the earth, then raised his head and embraced the world that science had given him with open arms, laughing.

With great difficulty, but not at all tired, they fell down the cliff and walked into the last rainforest.

Francis sensed something strange.

The explorers are planning some daring adventure, while their leader is busy praying in confusion.

The rainforest is small, and just outside is the great city, which belongs to the Aztecs, and is a destination that explorers have spent countless lives trying to reach.

No one can resist the temptation.

But Francis was not at all excited.

As the explorers rushed to the golden-laden Aztec city, where its inhabitants were weakened, he was huddled beneath a large rock in the rainforest in prayer.

It's hard for an explorer to be a devout believer, but Francis once met Magellan.

When everything he believed in could not solve what he saw, a believer belonging to science or some other god was born.

Francis was very lucky, he was the darling of science, the Holy See supported him, and his piety was worthy of all this.

But now, Francis feels like an abandon.

Science, of course, does not speak to a believer, but it always makes the faithful feel his presence.
