Chapter 54: Withered
"Sherlock Holmes!"
Dr. Watson put Sherlock Holmes on his lap and cried out in despair.
Just now, he watched the detective fall backwards, unconscious.
Then Holmes opened his eyes.
"I hate science. ”
He struggled to his feet, stood firm by Watson's support, and lit the oil lamp.
"When did it go out?"
"When?" Watson almost shouted, "just in an instant, you're on the ground! What the hell are you doing?"
"One thing that has to be done, we have to tell people about it, that science is orchestrating a big bang. ”
With the help of the lamp, Holmes was able to speak normally, and he carefully put away the lamp, and walked towards the alley from which he came.
"What the hell is going on?"
Dr. Watson hurriedly followed.
"The state religion has fallen. ”
"What?"
For Dr. Watson, this is a difficult statement to understand.
"The clergy of the Anglican religion are helping science to complete a ritual, they close the church to prevent interference, and when the ritual is done, the state church is no different from the Holy See. ”
"The state church wants to betray Britannia?"
Sherlock Holmes smiled: "Yes, Watson, this time your literary skills have come into play, and this statement is much more concise and clear than what I just said. ”
......
Magellan and Professor Granger spent a moment figuring out the magic that could break the blockade.
Although Brunhilde was a Valkyrie and the head mother of the Schmidt family, she knew nothing about magic, which is why she had not been able to leave the castle for hundreds of years.
So during this time, the Baron, Arthur and Valkyrie were idle. While Arthur was busy admiring the beautiful castle, the baron had some time alone with his grandfather's grandmother.
"I remember the story my grandmother told. ”
"What?"
Most of the time, the Valkyrie would remain silent, she did not like to talk and had lost the habit of talking, while the Baron, who had always insisted on talking.
"There was a beautiful princess who was locked in the castle by evil magic, and in the end, it was her son who unraveled the magic. ”
The Baron paused, but Brünnhilde didn't ask how the magic was undone, as he thought, so the Baron had to continue in embarrassment.
The princess kissed his son, and it was the absolute strength and purity of love in the world, and the powerful power broke through the magic, and the princess was free. ”
"It's a boring and false story. ”
The Valkyrie showed no mercy, and the baron was awkwardly silent for a long time.
"You don't owe me anything. ”
Eventually, it was Brünnhilde who broke the silence, and by this time, she was ready to end the conversation.
"I've never considered you relatives, you're not even Esyad, but something, Loren. ”
"Some things are born like this," said the baron, who was not very good at talking, and he had done his best, "isn't my grandfather's grandfather your grandson?"
"I won't admit that his soul didn't even make it into Valhalla. ”
Then Valkyrie turned to leave, and the conversation ended.
While Magellan was busy discerning Rune with Professor Granger, this conversation was repeated countless times.
And finally, they knew how to lift the lockdown.
"It's a typical Esyad ritual that requires blood and wine. ”
A smile flashed in Valkyrie's eyes.
That's really the traditional Esyad.
In accordance with the needs of magic, Magellan prepared a wine cup carved from wood, painted with runi characters on the bottom of the glass, and filled it with spirits.
Brünnhilde and the Baron each mixed a drop of blood into the wine, and then each took a sip, which meant that the ritual was complete and the thorny forest would disappear.
Everyone was happy, believing that after the ritual was completed, the destination of the trip would be a big step closer.
But the Valkyrie refused.
She was reluctant to perform the ceremony, as to the traditional Esyadians, it meant a family oath, and Brünnhilde would never recognize the Baron as her family.
Everyone was amazed.
"Only then can you regain your freedom. ”
"I'll wait until the day when magic fails, it's only a few hundred years. ”
Magellan didn't say anything more, he needed the Valkyrie to take him to find the gods of Esyad now, but he knew that this reason was not enough to convince Brünnhilde.
Eventually, the disappointed trio left, leaving only the baron and the Valkyrie.
"I'm not from Esyad. ”
"I know, Loren. ”
"So this ritual doesn't represent an oath to become a family member of the Esyadians, it's just a simple magic, and the key made to unlock the door doesn't make any sense. ”
The Valkyrie suddenly felt that she was about to be convinced, and for the first time she raised her head and looked seriously at the baron's face.
This is an Esyadian, who has the same facial features as Brunhilde's grandson, but with a little more vicissitudes between his eyebrows.
"I'm not your family. ”
"Yes. ”
......
Magellan and Professor Granger packed up the manuscripts that littered the room and prepared to leave the castle.
Arthur lived next door to the two, and he had very few things, so he had packed them up, and was now sitting at the table watching Magellan run around the room.
"So, even a Valkyrie has a fragile mind, especially after living with mortals for a long time. ”
"The question is, without the Valkyries, how can you find Esyad's Divine Domain?"
Magellan sighed helplessly: "I already have a speculation, I can probably find a certain ancient Esyad tribe ruins, but there are still no clues about the Divine Domain. ”
Professor Granger scrambled to stuff his manuscripts into his bag, and his research had made a lot of progress during his time at the castle, but he was still disappointed that he had not been able to leave the castle with the Valkyrie.
"Hey, wait, look!"
Arthur stood up suddenly.
Magellan and the two looked up, and then saw a spectacular scene.
The dark vines that covered the castle like a dome were withering, thorns beginning to wither, then dead branches breaking and falling, and sunlight piercing the darkness through the gap like spears.
It was as if the whole sky was clearing, the dark clouds were pierced by an unknown force, and the boundary between light and darkness on the ground was so clear.
It was as if there was a rain of light in front of the three of them.
"The ceremony is complete?"
Professor Granger laughed.
The thorny forest withered and collapsed at an alarming rate, and when the dome collapsed entirely, the shrubs on all sides began to wither, leaving only the gray trunks standing upright.
