Chapter 16: The Black Domain Part 8
In the corners of the wooden houses, the water seeps through the dirt on the surface, outlining clear traces and seeping downward.
Griffith drew his sword and plunged it into the gap, sliding left and right to pick it up. Under a thick wooden plank covered with dirt, there was indeed a basement hidden.
"The planks are thick and covered with clay, and it's hard to spot them when you knock them out," Griffith said, lighting a torch and leaning into the basement, "I'll go down and have a look, you're waiting for me here."
The basement of the wooden house is damp and dark. There is a foul smell in the small space. Griffith stepped on a soft mass with one foot. He shook it with his torch and found that it was an adult man dressed as a squire. The squire's neck was twisted behind his back, and his face was distorted.
Further ahead lay an old man. His body was cut off by a sharp blade, and his intestines flowed to the ground.
There are traces of a fight here. In the innermost part of the basement, a tall, burly giant man sat by the wall. Griffith kept his distance, checking by the light of the fire.
The giant man was shirtless, with a greasy linen cloth draped around his waist, and had been dead for a long time. He had a large round head and was quite similar in height to the monster that attacked the two. The strong muscles seemed to have been repeatedly stabbed by a sharp blade, and there were blood holes and scars everywhere. The fatal wound had come from the neck, some kind of terrible murder weapon had severed his throat, and the blood had penetrated the ground, staining the nearby dirt a deep black.
Galadia jumped down and inspected the scene with Griffith, and after making sure nothing else had been found, they removed the giant man's body together.
The dead giant man was so heavy that it took all their strength to push him away from the wall. At the base of the blood-soaked wall, a notebook remained.
The crisp and neat handwriting doesn't look like it's from the hand of the giant man in front of you. Griffith was even skeptical that he could hold the pen with his large hands. The pretty little book is not something that a giant would use, but like a diary written by a dead squire.
[Diary 1 of unknown date]
"The Earth Dragon's oracle is foolish, but Village Chief Vlad is too stubborn. We just want to move to a better place, not to break with the heritage of the past.
"We will keep our faith in the Earth Dragon, just as it has been for hundreds of years, and the Earth Dragon is the guardian of the village.
"Master Demel Haq, the resident mage, listened to my distress and said he could help me, but he needed to prepare. During this period, I must imprison the village chief with the divine envoy for a period of time, so as not to further intensify the conflict between the villagers and the earth dragon. To be honest, I don't think it's a good thing to do, and the villagers will be even more worried. But since Master Mage said so, it must have a point. He's the smartest man in the world. ”
[Diary 2 of unknown date]
"I did as the Master told me.
"The village chief was furious, and I promised him that I would release him as soon as the resident mage arrived. Until then, we can't continue to have the village chief and the oracle in conflict in front of the villagers. ”
[Diary 3 of unknown date]
"I heard that the garrison mage came to the village, but I didn't meet him.
"The bastard who killed the pig had a bad attitude towards the village chief. Hell, it's impossible to reconcile contradictions, and I'm doing everything possible to tell him to be respectful and calm! Why would the ancient earth dragon look for such a fool to be an oracle?
If it weren't for his clumsy words and failure to clearly convey the will of the earth dragon, how could the contradiction develop to this point?
"I've been thinking a lot these days, isn't it just a move, how can it be like this? ”
[Diary 4 of unknown date]
"The Master Mage and the Lord Knight are missing.
"There are many people in the village who say that the oracle wanders around in his greasy broken bag, smelling foul and looking at the villagers with strange eyes, as if he wanted to eat people.
"But, no, I told the envoy to hide in his hut and watch out for the village chief until he was mediated by the resident mage, and he promised to do so. Why do some people still say that he appeared in the village to cause trouble?
"What should I do? Maybe I should release the village chief, the basement is really smelly and not good for the health of the elderly.
"Well, I need to get him out. ”
[Diary 5 of unknown date]
"There were figures near the oracle's hut, and there were big scary cockroaches, and I was scared.
"The monster appeared, disguised as an oracle,
"Oh no, they're fighting, it's horrible. The angel was defeated and seriously wounded, and we hid in the basement together.
"Who's going to save me!"
[The last scribble]
"He's coming, he's spotting us, he's on it!"
Galadia put away her diary and shook her head gently at Griffith, "I'm in trouble. ”
"Indeed," Griffith prepared to leave after confirming that there was no other missing information in the basement, "let's go to the Earth Dragon Altar and prepare for battle, it seems inevitable that we will fight that monster." ”
He said as his gaze swept over the butcher's corpse.
"I'm not talking about that," the elf sighed and said softly, "The disaster in Taunt Village is deeply involved, and your successful handling of this seal incident will cause you even more trouble."
"You said that this is Lord Salorian's territory and a dam?"
"That's right. ”
"Griffith, these records confirm my suspicions about the true identity of the Earth Dragon," the elf explained, "and it is supposed to be an ancient mythical creature that can travel underground and even possess telepathic abilities to control people's minds.
"Its occult name is 'Drill Worm', and it has a long lifespan and is a giant earthworm-like creature that lives in the dirt and has squid-like tentacles. Its worm-like body is encased in slime, each appearance accompanied by a high-pitched echoing horn sound, and powerful individuals are even capable of hallucinating large areas.
"The Driller is a quiet mythical creature that does not like to fight and is afraid of water. Its telepathic abilities, like similar extraordinary abilities, can make people blind and stupid in the long run. This is a very distinctive feature that can easily expose its presence. As a result, the Driller does not use this ability extensively. ”
Griffith understood a little, and said with a solemn expression:
So, what happened in the village goes something like this:
"In this ancient village of Xiluo, some of the villagers worship a burrowing demon insect known as the 'Earth Dragon', and the stupid butcher with a strange bag on his head is his divine messenger.
"When the village was about to be submerged due to the dam construction incident, the worshippers of the Driller Worm clashed with the other villagers, including the village chief.
"The missing Squire Ennaze Viktim has attempted to mediate, and has asked for the assistance of the resident mage. In his opinion, the Driller Worm could start a new life with the village. ”
Galadia nodded approvingly:
"Yes, but he miscalculated the reaction of the mythical creature. The Driller must have settled here for a reason that attracted it, and for that reason it controlled its admirers to thwart the dam's relocation plans. The conflict intensified.
"Just as the mage stationed there came to mediate, a new monster suddenly appeared. It has a similar appearance to the butcher, and is supposed to be used for camouflage purposes, most likely the cockroach-driven monster that attacked us.
"The monster first created panic among the already restless villagers, then killed the village chief, the butcher, the squire, and most likely the Extraordinaire team.
"At this point, the contradiction between the Earth Drill Demon Worm and the village has become irreconcilable, and a conflict will inevitably break out at the Earth Dragon Altar. That monster will definitely appear there, too.
"This is the secret hidden in the Black Domain of the Seal, and it is likely that the Driller was killed in the subsequent conflict, but some of its powerful power and ideas remained, forming this realm. ”
......
The corpse of the strong butcher became a living corpse, following Griffith, shaking his terrible body, silent and obedient.
Griffith took it to the warehouse of the village hall and evoked four more of the dead members of the Extraordinary.
Although they may have all the powerful extraordinary beings in front of them, at this moment they are just ugly skinless monsters with a rotten and eerie aura.
Under the spell of Resurrection of the Dead and Domination, Griffith controls them and advances towards the Earth Dragon Altar, the final site of engagement.
Galadia looked at her companions with mixed feelings. From time to time, the monstrous monster staggered past her sight, making her heart tremble.
Griffith drove the undead monsters, but he was content, not caring about the evil and darkness they implied, and even a little content and confidence. If you look at his face alone, it's still very reassuring.
It's just that......
Four skinless living corpses staggered along with their bodies, and the unusually tall and ugly earth-shattering butcher shook his head like a mountain of meat.
Griffith, surrounded by them, is like a spokesman for death. He made his way towards the altar, clearly intent on more destruction and slaughter.
He seems to have defected to the banner of the evil god and become the leader of the monsters, with a condensed temperament and cold eyes, and it doesn't seem to be a big deal to command and command evil.
"Griffith ......"
The elf girl called out quietly.
"What?" Griffith, who was hugged back and forth, turned his head with a bright look, looking quite enjoyable.
The five living corpses turned their heads with him, twelve evil eyes focused on Galadia, nearly scaring her out.
"My warriors, come forward and take our positions on the battlefield!" Griffith snorted with a wave of his hand.
With that, the living corpses swarmed up and ran towards the altar.
Griffith watched his servant leave, turned his head and looked at the elf gently, "Is there a problem?"
His smile is natural and gentle, even a little warm. But, just a few seconds ago, he wasn't.
Galadia was overwhelmed by the frustration. She rubbed her forehead, endured the discomfort, and quickly followed her companion's footsteps.
