Chapter Ninety-One: The Mermaid
Fioni slowly approached the place where the shadow had flashed before, his gaze casually scanning the glowing plants around him. It's not that he despises his opponents, it's just that the Kraken trusts his innate ability to perceive the sea more than his vision. Even a hermit crab that breaks through the seabed can be detected by a trained Kraken warrior when he is concentrated. Not to mention that the black shadow that Fioni saw just now was obviously similar to or even larger than an adult. He was 100% sure that he could sense the other person's actions.
Sure enough, the current of water fluctuated in the Kraken's perception, and he looked towards the perceived location and saw the figure in the dark blue shimmer. The image of that thing is not unfamiliar to Fioni, but it is always seen in various decorations made by humans about the sea, it is a magical creature with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a fish, which exists in the word of mouth of sailors, the mermaid. Fioni's eyes narrowed, and he held the sharktooth scimitar in front of him, almost cutting off the opponent's attack in the narrow passage.
Mermaids, this is a type of existence that circulates in almost any sea. The upper bodies of these creatures are rumored to be beautiful human women, and some are also rumored to be elven women, but Fioni is noncommittal, as anyone with a modicum of sanity will know that this is not true. The reason is simple, the human body is too cumbersome in the ocean, even if the lower body is fish, lacking scales and other special aquatic organs, merfolk are not suitable for survival in the ocean. From the perspective of a human researcher, the Kraken is more inclined to believe that the so-called merfolk are just fantasies concocted by lonely sailors at sea. He even thinks that if there is a dwarven sailor in the world who doesn't like mountains, maybe the upper body of the mermaid will have a dwarven version.
But the figure in front of him was undoubtedly challenging Fioni's long-standing views, and in the dim light he could not see more details about the mermaid-like creature, and could only judge by guess. Thinking so, Fioni tried to ask the other party questions in the language of the Siren, believing that no matter how powerful the witches were, they would not listen to the sound of the water, and besides, as far as he knew, no one on earth could understand the language of the Siren. But if the mermaid in front of you is really an aquatic race, the other party may be able to master the most widely used communication method in this area.
Unfortunately, Fioni's attempt failed. Probably stimulated by his question, the mermaid-shaped shadow quickly rushed towards the Kraken, so fast that Fioni was a little unexpected. Fortunately, he still reacted in time, his body slashed sideways, and the scimitar in his hand slashed towards the opponent's chest. However, at the moment when the two were about to touch, the Kraken instinctively sensed something abnormal, and he subconsciously flipped the hand holding the knife, brushing against the mermaid's body instead of colliding. Even so, he felt a tremendous force coming from his wrist. From this, it can be seen that if the cut just now is really solid, I am afraid that the end will either be a broken scimitar or a broken arm of the kraken.
That's definitely not a mermaid. The Kraken was pretty sure that it was probably not even a creature. The dull sound behind him and the splashing of mud and sand confirmed Fioni's judgment that no flesh and blood body could make such a sound with such a size, unless the thing that made it up was gold and stone. The harsh grinding sound of "crunch" echoed in the seawater, and the mermaid who had just hit the wall rushed towards Fioni again like a harpoon in a strange posture with its arm folded at 180 degrees!
This time, the Kraken had no choice but to hold up the shark tooth knife with both hands to try to block it. The force of the impact was transmitted down the bony blade to his arms, and Fioni's body retreated uncontrollably, slamming into the rock wall behind him. The heavy impact caused the Kraken to feel pain, but it also energized him, his muscles bulging, his body straining to the right front, and he dodged away from the rock wall in a flash, using his opponent's power to frustrate him again. But this is not a long-term solution.
After two encounters, Fioni was almost certain that his opponent might be some kind of stone or bronze statue. Even though he lived in the sea, he had heard the legend of a stone statue that acted like a living being, but he didn't expect to encounter such an enemy this time. So, what should I do with it? I don't have much time left, if I can't open the floodgates in time or take them back to their previous room, then not only will this escape not succeed, but I am afraid that it will have a worse result.
"That's not going to work. Fioni muttered to himself, and for the first time he struck with his scimitar, slashing at his opponent who had not yet recovered from the collision. The result was, of course, ineffective, the shark tooth knife itself was no harder than the metal weapons used by humans, and the blade was deliberately sharpened very thin in order to adapt to underwater combat, and it could not even leave a mark on the metal. The attack was fruitless, but the opponent's counterattack was swift and deadly, although it was only a normal size fist of a human female, but it smashed into Fioni's chest like a huge wave, knocking the latter out at once.
"Boom!" The Kraken was repulsed in the direction of nowhere else, it was the location of the gate before, and the networm had been paying attention to the battle not far away, and when he saw Fioni flying over, he quickly pulled away from Lothar, who was trying to chisel through the rock. But the Count's tomahawk was still stuck in the crevice of the rock as a crowbar, and before he could pull it out, Fioni slammed into the handle of the Fool's righteous axe.
"Gollum!" bubbles bubbled up the widening cracks. Thanks to the Kraken's impact, the hard witch-hunting knife created a noticeable crack in the rock near the gate. The price was that Fioni's vertebrae were almost broken by the impact. Lothar stepped forward to try to alleviate Fioni's injury, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw a black shadow rushing through the passage!
The networm and the kraken only saw that under the impact of the mermaid, the gate that had been loosened flew outward with a large amount of rubble, along with Lothar, who had lost consciousness. The blood that spilled from the corner of the Black Mountain's mouth proved that his internal organs were not shallow in this collision. Seeing this, the mercenary stepped on the rock and flew out to grab Lothar's body. The Kraken, on the other hand, noticed that the merfolk who had slammed into the gate had not stopped moving because they had left the witch's territory, but had instead targeted the networms.
"Stay away from her!"
