Chapter 26: The Death of Jones
Sledgehammer doesn't know how many times it was slashed, and the werewolf doesn't remember how many he killed. Jones Witt, a once-in-a-century witcher wizard and a gifted descendant of royalty, is about to fall.
He no longer had the strength to rotate the "Head Breaker". Yorkton's heart was in pain. Not because he was about to die, but because he couldn't bear to let a child as talented as Jones die so early.
Jones couldn't even stand up. In the face of these werewolves who like to eat people, I'm afraid it's impossible to die a decent death.
Jones simply threw away the war hammer that could no longer be handled, and wanted to fight the werewolf again with his bare hands. But his movements were already too slow, and a werewolf had already rushed in front of him.
Jones knew he was going to die at the hands of the werewolf's bone knife. He tried to restrain himself from closing his eyes. Since he is no longer able to fight back, his wide-eyed eyes are the last attitude he left to the world. He didn't admit defeat......
The werewolf's bone knife had pierced Jones' chest, but the werewolves weren't going to stop there. More werewolves swarmed up. Yorkton tried to rescue Jones, but the werewolves had dragged Jones far away from him.
A group of werewolves frantically gnawed at the surviving Jones, and Yorkton roared and tried to rush over. But he couldn't even run.
Suddenly, a cloud of red mist rose into the air and quickly left!
It was a werewolf archmage who had regained consciousness. It fled without even checking on how Kanakas were doing. The drizzle attack that Kanakas had launched with all his power and even his life had completely frightened the werewolf archmage.
As soon as he woke up, he fled in a desperate hurry.
The werewolves on the ground were stunned, they couldn't believe that their highest fighting power, their spiritual pillar, had just fled.
Some werewolves opened their mouths wide in surprise, and half of the meat fell out of their mouths.
At this moment, the short-lived unity that the ronin had established with the arrival of the archmage collapsed. A reflex werewolf had already picked up a corpse from the ground and ran.
The other werewolves also began to scramble for the corpses on the ground. Jones was also carried by a werewolf and ran all the way into the forest.
The werewolves quickly looted all the corpses. Some didn't grab it, so they had to take a corpse of the same kind to satisfy their hunger. None of the werewolves were interested in the exhausted Yorkton, and they didn't want to fight anymore.
And Yorkton could only look at the werewolves who scattered in a hurry, and there was nothing to do.
He was so miserable. Not only did he fail to protect anyone's lives, he couldn't even save their bodies.
The most important thing for Yorkton is, of course, Jones's death. A child can fight alongside him, fighting dozens or maybe even hundreds of werewolves!
Yorkton couldn't help but think what a great warrior this child must have been if he had lived to his age!
Yorkton fell to his knees with a thud, two lines of tears sliding down his unyielding face......
The face began to twitch......
Tears flowed to the corners of his mouth. He hadn't tasted this in a long time. He looked at the great sword in his hand and thought of the only thing he could do now.
He wanted to kill himself......
But now, he was surprised to find that he could no longer hold the great sword. The great sword that has followed him for many years and slashed countless enemies......
His strength has long been exhausted, and now the last spiritual support is gone. So, he couldn't pick up the big sword.
Yorkton touched the back of his waist with his hand, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but hang a bitter smile.
I didn't expect that after such a tragic battle, the dagger inserted in the back waist was still there!
Yorkton drew his dagger. Before he could aim the dagger at his heart, he heard a hoarse shout in the distance......
There are no words, just a person's scream of pain......
Yorkton could hear it, it was Canakas. He understood why Canakas was screaming like that. Because their mood should be the same.
The mission of both of them is to protect the people around them. Both of them failed. Defeated so completely......
It looks like Canakas is ready to end his life, too. Yorkton speculated. Okay then, I'm one step ahead of you......
But the moment Yorkton raised his dagger, he suddenly remembered those important moments and moments in his life. He remembered his oath.
He thought that since Canakas was still alive, it was now his new task to protect Canakas.
That's right, that's what he's doing as a knight. People die every day, and his mission is to protect those who are still alive as much as possible.
Thinking of this, he once again had strength. He scrambled to his feet and stumbled in the direction of the sound......
In order to reduce weight, he did not go to pick up his greatsword. He even took off his armor while running......
The road was not too far, and the constant screaming of Karnacas was a guide to the direction. Yorkton soon found Karnacas.
It turned out that after falling from the sky, Karnacas smashed his body into the damp dirt of the forest. So when he woke up again, he couldn't move at all.
Even if he wanted to kill himself, he couldn't do it.
So, tormented by the pain of defeat and unable to move, Canakas almost screamed in frenzy. His spirit was on the verge of a breakdown.
Eventually, Yorkton dug up Karnacas with both hands and feet.
Canakas looked at Yorkton, his mouth open but closed again without asking anything. Yorkton, of course, knew what he wanted to ask, so he shook his head silently.
Canakas didn't ask because he had already guessed. He bowed his head for a long time and then said, "Thank you for digging me out." But you go back. I'm not going anywhere. ”
Yorkton simply sat down across from Canakas and said, "I thought so, but when I heard your shout, I came to save you." It made me understand that we still have something to do. We don't have to die now. ”
Canakas looked up at Yorkton feebly, waiting for him to continue.
Yorkton said: "We don't have the face to go back. But because of this, I suddenly felt free. I've heard a lot of legends about how to gain power. I'm sure you are too. But we have been following our mission day by day until now. Now, why don't we try to find it. Maybe if we do succeed, we will have enough strength to take revenge. ”
Listening to Yokton's words, Canakas suddenly said fiercely, "Yes." That way, we can kill the spellcaster. ”
"I want to ...... He may not be the culprit. Yorkton said.
Canakas was a smart man, and as soon as he heard that, he understood what Yorkton might know. So he didn't interject, just waited quietly for Yorkton to continue.
