Chapter 183: Guidance
The Kanders are surrounded by darkness that stretches their fingers out of sight. He could only climb by feeling, and just as he was feeling very tired, a cool breeze blew across his cheeks.
He felt (not seen) that he should have reached the point where the chain was connected to the entire defense system. If only it could be seen!
Then it occurred to him that there was a magician beside him.
"We may need some steel. Wade shouted.
"Where's the steel?" said Aven, who almost lost his center of gravity and fell.
"It's not a box! it's light!" Wade said patiently, leaning on the chain. "I think we're almost at the top, and it's better to see our surroundings clearly. β
"Oh, of course. I think, light ......" Wade saw the mage reach for his hand in the bag.
He quickly found what he needed, and after letting out a low cry of victory, the mage read a few words, and a small yellow ball of light immediately appeared next to his hat.
The small, glowing orb of light floated up and circled around Tysokov as if to look at him, and then returned to the proud mage.
Wade was simply completely hooked. He had a basket of questions about the little ball of light, and unfortunately, his hands were already starting to tremble, and the old mage didn't seem to be able to hold out for long.
He knew he had better find a way out of the chain.
He looked up, and as he expected, the two had reached the top of the fortress.
The iron chain is coiled around a huge wooden gear, and in the center of the gear is another equally huge iron shaft, firmly nailed into the rock.
The chain was tightly clinging to the large teeth of a tree trunk, and the whole chain extended into a pipe on the right hand side of the cook.
"We can climb up that gear and climb down the chain into that passage. The Kander said, pointing to that end.
"Can you shine the light over there?"
"Light, go to the wheel. Evan gave instructions.
The small ball of light floated in mid-air for a while, swaying in an attitude that was clearly unwilling.
Evan frowned. "Light, go to the wheels!" he repeated categorically.
The small ball of light sprang into hiding behind the mage's hat. Ai Wen was so angry that he grabbed it with his hands, and almost let himself fall, so he had to continue to hold the chain with both hands.
The little ball of light danced happily behind him, as if he had fallen in love with such a game.
"Oh, I guess we've got enough light. Wade said.
"The younger generation really doesn't even have any rules!" muttered Aven. "His father is a real ball of light...... "The old mage grew louder and louder, and the small ball of light continued to float on the tip of his tattered hat.
Wade quickly climbed the first tooth of the gear. Once he was sure that the teeth were strong and easy to climb, Wade climbed through them one by one until he reached the top. Evan rolled his robe behind his hips and came up with an admirable straightening hand.
"Can you ask the one to light the passage ahead?" Wade asked.
"Light, go to the channel. Aven's wizened legs clamped between the chains, and commanded.
The little ball of light seemed to hesitate. It floated slowly to the edge of the passage, where it stopped.
"Go into the passage!" commanded the mage.
The little ball of light refused to do so.
"I guess it's afraid of the dark. Evan said guiltily.
"Oh my God, that's special!" said the Kanderman in surprise. "Okay!" he thought for a moment.
"If it could stop where it is now, I think I could crawl along this light. It looked like it was only about fifteen feet away from the passage. β
It was still a few hundred feet from the ground, let alone the hard rocky ground, Wade thought.
"Somebody should come up and lubricate this thing. Evan looked at the bearing dissatisfied. "It's like this nowadays, and people don't want to overhaul it often. β
"I'm glad they didn't do it!" Wade whispered as he crawled toward the chain. Halfway up the climb, Wade began to fantasize about what it would be like to fall, and he kept falling until he hit the ground below. He wondered what it would be like to smash his whole body to the ground......
"Let's go!" Evan shouted from behind the Khand, leaning on his chain.
Wade hurriedly crawled into the entrance of the passage, and the small ball of light was waiting for them, jumping to the ground over there.
The small ball of light also quickly followed, and it was only then that Evan finally arrived at the entrance of the passage. At the last moment, he slipped and fell, but fortunately Wade grabbed him and saved his life.
They could finally sit on the floor and rest, when suddenly, the old man's head jerked.
"My crutches!" he said.
"What's wrong?" said Wade, yawning, wondering what time it was.
The old man struggled to his feet. "Forgot about it. He muttered to himself, turning back to the chain.
"Wait! you can't go back!" Wade jumped to his feet as if he had just woken up from a dream, stopping his stupidity.
"Who said that?" said the old man angrily, his beard moving with Cole.
"I mean......," Wade paused, "it's going to be dangerous." But I can relate to you: my Houpak staff is also left underneath. β
"Hmm!" Evan reluctantly sat back. "Does it have magic?" Wade asked after a moment.
"I've never been sure. Evan said.
"Soβ" Wade said open-mindedly, "maybe when we're all done, we'll be able to go back and look for it." Now let's find a place to rest. β
He looked around the passageway. It's about seven feet from floor to ceiling. Huge chains stretched out of the top of the head, and many small chains were attached to them, reaching into a dark cavern at the end.
Wade looked inside, and he could vaguely see huge rocks.
"Guess what time it is?" Wade asked.
'Lunchtime. The old man said. "We can just rest here. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong here.
He sat back down. He took out some dry food and chewed it loudly. The small orb of light wandered around, finally stopping at the edge of the mage's hat.
Wade sat down beside the old mage and began to eat his own dry food. It didn't take long for him to smell a strange smell, like the smell of burnt socks. Raising his head, he couldn't help but sigh at the robe of the Lara mage.
"Uh, Avenβ" he said, "your hat is on fire." β
"Hubble!" said Robert, solemnly, "I'll just say one last time. Wade is gone, I'm just as sad as you are, but we can't turn back! He's with Aven, you know these two guys very well! they'll try to get through anything. β
"Let's assume they won't bring down the entire fortress. Stone muttered.
The dwarf wiped away his tears, glared at Robert, turned abruptly, found a corner, and sat down sullenly.
Robert also sat down, knowing how Hubble felt. It felt strange, but I don't know how many times Robert would have felt that if there was a chance to strangle the cook, he would be more than happy to do so.
But without him, Robert began to miss all the stupid things he had done. The heartfelt and fearless joy that overflowed Wade's body made him a valuable companion.
There was no danger to make Wade back down, so he never gave up. In times of crisis, he never forgets what he should do.
Not always right, but at least he's ready to act whenever and wherever he wants, Robert smiled wryly.
I just hope this time won't be the last difficulty in his life, he thought to himself.
Everyone rested for about an hour, eating dry food and drinking the water from the deep well that they had just discovered.
Rodrith finally regained consciousness, but could not eat anything. He took a few sips of water, then went limp again.
Calamon hesitated to inform Rodrith Aven about it, fearing that he might be hit too hard. But Rodrith shrugged his shoulders and fell into a deep sleep.
Regaining his strength, Robert stood up and walked over to Gilcenas, noticing that the elves were engrossed in deciphering a map. He smiled politely as he passed by him, but she pretended not to see him.
Robert sighed and left. He had begun to regret the rude rebukes, but he had to admit that she had done well in all the sudden situations. She did not hesitate to do what was given to her.
Robert felt that he should apologize, but that would have to wait until he had discussed it with Gilsenas.
"What's your plan?" he asked, sitting down on a wooden box.
"yes, where are we now?" asked Stone. Soon, everyone crowded around the elf and looked at the map together, except for Rodrith, who seemed to be asleep, but Robert saw a glimmer of gold between his eyelids, which should have been closed.
Gilthenus spread out the map.
"This is the New Grand Fortress and the surrounding mines," he pointed. "We're in the cellar at the bottom. About fifty feet down the corridor was where they imprisoned the women.
This was the guard's room, facing the women's cell, and it wasβ" he pointed lightly to the map, "the lair of a dragon, the red dragon that the fierce one called Flame.
Because the dragon's body was so large, his lair stretched all the way to the buildings on the ground, to the room of the first layer of Munjina, and through the second level, all the way to the sky outside. β
Girsenas smiled helplessly, "On the first floor, behind Mammina's room, is where the children are kept. The dragoon was clever enough to separate the hostages, knowing that mothers would not abandon their children, and men would not abandon their wives and children.
The little ones are guarded by another red dragon. About 300 men worked in the mines in the mountains outside. There are still hundreds of valley dwarves at work in the pits. β
"You seem to know New Grande well. Iban said.
Gilsenas looked up suddenly, "What do you mean by that?"
"I didn't say anything. Iban replied. "It's just that since you know so much about this place, how can you say that you've never been in?
Isn't it strange that we're going to keep encountering monsters that almost slaughtered us in Slamorelli?"
"Ibanβ" Robert said quietly, "we've heard enough of your suspicions.
I don't believe any of us are traitors. Like Rodlis said, if he had been, he would have betrayed us a long time ago. Does that make any sense?"
"In order to lure me and the platinum disc to the Lord of the Fierce Min. Scarlet Moon said softly.
"He knows I'm here, Robert. I was very close to the power he believed in. β
"It's ridiculous!" Stone said disdainfully.
"No, it's not funny. Scarlet Moon said. "Remember, two constellations are missing in the sky. One is after the darkness. I can only get a few clues from the platinum plate, and behind the darkness is one of the ancient gods.
The forces of the good and evil gods are opposed to each other, and the neutral gods strive to maintain a balance between the two. After the darkness of the Fierce Min, I worship Mishakai, and this is what Mishakai said about restoring balance.
The bright hope I brought was exactly what he feared, so he was doing everything he could to find me. The longer I stay here......" She didn't finish.
"Because of this, we shouldn't be suspicious of each other. Robert continued, his eyes on Iban.
The warrior shrugged, "Enough is enough. I'm still on your side. β
"What about your plans?, Gilsenas?" Robert asked, a little annoyed to find that Stone, Calamon, and Iban were quickly exchanging glances.
The three of them were going to work together against the elves, he thought, and maybe he himself was half-hearted, believing in Gilesenas because he was an elf.
Gilcenas also saw them exchange glances. He stared at them intently for a long time, then spoke in a cautious tone, seemingly unwilling to reveal any unnecessary inside story.
"Every evening, about 10 to 12 women leave their cells and deliver food to the men who work in the mines. The dragoon will use this tactic to make the men sure that he has not broken his promise. Similarly, women are thus able to visit their children once a day.
My plan and I was to disguise ourselves as women and go to the mines to inform the men of our plan to release the hostages, reminding them to prepare for an attack.
Others are out of our radar. Our spy also reported something special, the flower guarding the children seemed to be something unusual, but we don't know the details. β
'What is the ββ??" Calamon was about to ask, but when he saw Robert's eyes, he immediately changed his words, "
When are we going to attack? What are we going to do with that dragon called Blaze?"
"We're going to strike early tomorrow morning. King Fernana and the dragon would surely join the army that had arrived on the outskirts of Wellington by then. He had been planning this attack for a long time. I'm sure he won't miss it easily. β
Everyone continued to discuss the plan, and made slight changes to make it more perfect, and finally everyone agreed on the plan that seemed reasonable.
When they had packed their things, Calamon woke up his brother. Stone and Iban pushed the door open to the outside.
