Chapter 312: Surprised
Robert looked up.
"Oh my God, this is—" He gasped.
Swooping down from the sky, straight at them was a golden dragon.
Riding on his back was an old man, his white hair fluttering behind his back (his hat had fallen off again), and a long white beard flowing back from his shoulders.
The dragon's mouth was wide open, and if it weren't for the lack of teeth inside, it would have looked fierce.
"I think we've been attacked," Callamon said in awe.
Robert came to the same conclusion. "Disperse!" he shouted, cursing incessantly.
Underneath them, a whole group of dragonmen watched the battle in the air with great interest.
The last thing they want is to be found out by these guys, and now it's all ruined by a crazy old man.
When the four dragons heard Robert's order, they immediately broke out of formation, but not fast enough.
A huge fireball exploded right in the middle of them, sending the four dragons tumbling in the sky.
Dazzled by the sudden light, Robert threw away the twine and clung to the brass dragon's neck, fearing that everything would get out of control.
Then he heard a familiar voice.
"Give them a good look! What a great spell, a fireball—"
"Aven!" Robert screamed.
He blinked desperately, trying to get the dragon under control.
It seemed that he knew how to deal with it better than the inexperienced knight on his back, and the brass dragon quickly regained his balance.
Now that Robert finally had a chance to see clearly, he immediately searched around for the others.
They didn't seem hurt, but they were scattered all over the sky.
The old man and his dragon were chasing Karamon.
The old man just reached out his hand, ready to cast another devastating spell.
Calamon was yelling, and he seemed to recognize the confused old mage as well.
Hubble and Wade were speeding up from behind Aven, and the Kand waved their little hands excitedly.
Hubble clung to the hemp rope to avoid falling, and the dwarf looked a little blue.
But Evan followed his prey very intently. Robert listened to the old man recite a few incantations and stretched out his hands.
Lightning shot from the tips of his fingers. Luckily he didn't aim.
The lightning grazed Calamon's head, forcing him to lower his head and ask for help, but it didn't hurt him.
Robert was startled by the vulgar words he uttered. He kicked the dragon in his crotch and pointed at the old man in front of him.
'Attack!'" he commanded the dragon beneath his feet. "Don't hurt him, just drive him away. “
Unexpectedly, the brass dragon was reluctant to obey orders.
The dragon shook his head and began to hover continuously, and Robert only realized at this time that he was actually about to land!
"What? are you crazy?" Robert yelled at the dragon.
"You're going to let us break straight into the dragon legion!"
The flower seemed to be deaf, and now Robert could see the other dragons circling and preparing to land.
In vain Robert pleaded with the dragon to step down. Berclery, who sat behind Lena, hugged her tightly, almost leaving her breathless.
The Eternal looked below, and the dragonmen were swarming upwards to where they were about to land.
Calamon was frantically dodging, trying to dodge the lightning bolts that were shooting around him.
Hubble revived and roared frantically, tugging at the rope to make the straddle dragon obey.
Wade was still waving at Evan excitedly. The old man followed them all the time, driving the brass dragon together like a flock of sheep.
They landed in the hills, close to the Kekit Mountains.
Robert quickly looked at the plain beneath his feet and could see the dragonmen rushing up in frenzy.
We might be able to bluff them, Robert thought.
Although they were dressed up just to get out of Karaman, not to deal with a group of suspicious dragonmen.
But it's still worth a try, and there's hope as long as Becleral remembers to keep his mouth shut and hide behind.
But before Robert could speak, Berclere jumped off the dragon's back and ran frantically into the mountain.
Robert could see the dragonman yelling at him.
Don't think about anything and hide behind your back. Robert began cursing again.
It's possible to fool them anyway...... They can claim that a prisoner escaped.
No, he thought desperately, the dragonmen would surely catch up and capture Belclery.
According to what Ella has said, all the dragonmen on Claes have descriptions of Belclery.
"Damn!'" Robert forced himself to calm down and think rationally, but the situation quickly became out of control.
"Calamon, go after Belcleral. Hubble, you can't, Wade, come back! Damn! Lena, go after Wade. No, after thinking about it a little more, stay here. Hubble, you're the same—"
'Sister, Wade ran after that madman—"
'If we're lucky, the ground will crack open and swallow them both,' Robert cursing angrily, looking back.
Driven by fear, Berclery used the speed of a goat to push through the trees and run fast across the rugged terrain.
And Calamon, who was dragged down by the heavy armor and weapons on his body, slipped one step with every two steps.
Robert looked back at the scene on the plains and could clearly see the dragonmen.
Bright sunlight, shining on their armor and weapons.
Maybe there's a chance, if the brass dragon is willing to attack—just as he was about to give the brass dragon an attack, the old man ran over from where his golden dragon had landed.
"Hurry up," said the old man to the brass dragon. "Get back to where you came from,"
'Don't!'Wait!' As he saw the old man waving his hands and running around like a farmer driving chickens, Robert was so anxious that he almost scratched off his beard.
Then the half-elf was surprised to see that the brass dragon knelt obediently in front of the old man's gray robes.
Then they raised their wings and gracefully flew into the sky.
Enraged, Robert completely forgetting that he was wearing heavy armor for camouflage, he followed Wade through the waist-length grass and ran to the old man.
Evan heard them approaching and turned to face him.
"I'm going to wash my mouth with soap," said the old mage, glaring at Robert.
"You are now my captive, lay down your arms quietly for me, or be ready to taste my spells.
"Aven!" Wade hugged the old man with both hands.
The old mage looked down at the Kander who was holding him, then staggered back.
"You're Tayso——, Tayso—" he said to Ba.
"Burvolt," Wade said, taking a step back and bowing politely. "Wade Sovolt. ”
"Shuma's ghost!" Exclaimed Evan in surprise.
"This is Robert, a half-elf. This is Hubble Furnace. Do you remember him?"
Tesohev continued, waving at the dwarf.
"Oh, yes, I haven't forgotten," Evan said with a red face.
"And Lena...... Over there is Calamon...... Oh well, you can't see him now.
It was Berclery. We brought him out of Karaman, Aven.
He's got an emerald stuck in the—smack, ouch, Robert, it hurts!"
Evan cleared his throat and looked around in embarrassment.
"Uh- weren't you with the Uh-Legion of Dragons?"
"No," said Robert, grimacingly, "we weren't! ”
He looked behind his back, "But it looks like it's going to change at any moment." ”
"You really have nothing to do with the Dragon Legion?" Evan asked hopefully.
"Are you sure you didn't treachery, were you tortured, were you baptized?" "Damn, no,"
Robert ripped off his helmet. 'Do you remember, I'm Robert, a half-elf—"
Evan immediately remembered. "Half-elf Robert, I'm glad to see you again, Your Excellency. ”
He took Robert's hand and shook hands with him sincerely.
"Damn!" Robert shouted helplessly, pulling his hand away from the old man's hand.
"But you ride Ryusuke," they're good dragons!," Robert shouted, "they're back!"
"No one told me!" said the old man without incident.
"Do you know what you've done?" said Robert, who had just interrupted. "You knocked us out of the sky!
"Oh, I know what I did," Evan muttered. He looked back. "Oh, oh, those guys seem to be catching up. We must not be caught by them. Well, why are you standing still?", glared at Robert. "You're such a good leader!
I think it's up to me to take the lead...... Where's my hat?"
An even older form of magic is the now-neglected "source of intelligence".
Few people would admit that they had the talent to perform this magic.
That's why people always say that the inhabitants of the valley next door, or those who live on the other side of the distant mountains, are proficient in this way.
Robert suspected that it had been an ancient hunter-gatherer, not the innate magic of those who had moved here, and that it was unique to those who believed they were related to the beasts of the forest.
It is said that the origin of intelligence gave people the ability to speak the language of beasts.
And those who over-exert the source of intelligence will become the beast to which they are attached. But maybe it's just a legend.
There's also a spell called "Witchcraft", but Evan has never been able to determine the origin of the name.
These proven or still questionable spells include palmistry, water reading, the interpretation of crystal reflections, and the use of predicting the future.
Another unknown type of magic produces physical effects such as retreating, levitating, and giving life to otherwise inanimate objects.
All this magic, from the widow's son's flying chair to the North Wind Magic Tablecloth, is an ancient legend.
As far as I know, no one claims to have the ability to perform these spells.
Perhaps, they are nothing more than legends of the inhabitants of ancient times, or they may be mythical or almost mythical creatures.
Legends of dragons, giants, spirits, aliens, and all sorts of strange powers.
