Elle quietly slowed her steps, dressed as a standard night watchman, carrying a lantern, a weapon, and a bell, and walked out the door lightly.
The three children upstairs were still asleep and didn't seem to wake them up.
"Eleven or twelve-year-olds who have problems even taking care of themselves now have to take care of others. She closed the door, looked at the increasingly thick black fog outside, and sighed, "I really don't know what the elder and the chief think. β
In fact, she was only five years older than Kenwall.
This time I went to open up, and I don't know if I'll die outside. Elle tugged at her heart, picked up the lamp and walked towards the assembly place, her figure gradually disappearing into the black fog, and the rest of the faint footsteps echoed.
It remained silent until the bell rang and spread throughout the Imperial City.
"Lynch! Lynch is up! Don't sleep! You're always going to be called by others!" a knock on the door outside the room woke up Lynch, who was still asleep.
Lynch straightened up in a daze, rubbed his eyes, and let out a long yawn. This hardboard bed is really not very comfortable to sleep on.
"I'll clean it up right away. Lynch agreed, slowly rubbing off the bed.
It's still the same ill-fitting outfit, and the boots on my feet can even reach the knees.
"It's just using us as cannon fodder......"
Lynch, as always, complained about the ill-fitting clothes, and opened the door after packing up his gear, ready to endure Kenwall's chatter.
Pushing open the door, Kenwo and Patch sat in their chairs with their backs to him, stunned by the shabby food on the table, Lynch scanned around and saw no girl.
"Is that sister gone?" asked Lynch.
"Hmm. Patch responded, "Hurry up and eat something, we should go on patrol after eating." β
Lynch nodded to him, jumped into his chair and picked up the humble food that had been laid out on it and ate it.
This is the fourth day that Lynch has been here on patrol, and apart from some thrills on the first day of the official patrol, there have been no surprises in the rest of the day.
The three of them officially embarked on their first independent patrol mission, and Kenwo and Patch looked nervous with no adults to accompany them.
"Whew. Lynch stepped out of the tower again, breathing in the outside air, I don't know if it was because of age, there was always a faint musty smell in the tower.
"Do you feel like the black fog is getting thicker?" said Patch as he was the last to step out, scanning his surroundings and wincing to the other two friends.
"Hmm. Kenwo's voice sounded a little stingy, too.
"Nope. Lynch replied dryly: "You're just scared, it's just your psychological effect." β
"I'm not scared, am I?" Kenwo blew up and turned his head to look at Lynch, "Patch is scared when he looks at it!"
"I'm not afraid...... Lynch wasn't afraid of what I was afraid of. Not to be outdone, Patch followed.
"If you're not afraid, let's go. β
"Oh......" The two children drooped their heads.
The three children got moving. Instead of walking side by side, they walked in a vertical column, with Lynch standing between the two children, as Elle had instructed before leaving.
Protection is weak.
In fact, Lynch thinks he should be a little stronger than Patch, although he does look like a soft persimmon that is easy to pinch, but since he can stand in the middle and enjoy the benefits, there is no need to shirk it.
Patch is aware of this, but he is reluctant to admit that a child three years younger than himself is better than him, so he agrees with this arrangement.
This is a difference between children and adults.
The three children walked slowly, holding lanterns and ringing bells rhythmically.
If there is an adult with floating dust in the back who follows us leisurely, it will not be inconsistent at all. Lynch looked back and forth, how he looked and felt that the three of them were like imps being driven away, and they almost jumped and left.
Kenwo, who was in front, finally couldn't stand the silence and began to talk about it. Patch couldn't ask for it, so the two began to talk, and Lynch was not interested in the topic between the two naΓ―ve children, so he simply opened his delusional eyes and scouted around.
Soon they came to the garden that once belonged to Elder Jean Del. There was an aura in the garden that made Lynch feel uncomfortable, and it wasn't just Lynch who felt it, Kenwall had made it clear before that he was uncomfortable every time he was in this garden.
One person feels that there is a problem, and both people say that there is a problem, then it is worth paying attention to.
Elle had searched the garden several times over the past few days, but found nothing, and the two children's discomfort had not changed. Although Elle was worried, she had no countermeasures, so she could only tell the children to be more careful before leaving.
The garden is the way to go, and there is no way around it.
It still looks lifeless, and all kinds of hideous and strange plants stand silently and motionlessly. There were potholes on the ground, all of which had been smashed by the previous patrols.
By the way, Elle plucked almost all the flowers in the garden before leaving.
Kenwo and Patch fell silent, scanning the garden warily, keeping an eye out for anything that might happen at any moment.
Then they walked all the way out of the garden.
All three children breathed a sigh of relief.
But it didn't last long. The three children who had already arrived on the block clearly sensed that something was wrong.
"Lynch......" Patch's voice sounded even more panicked this time, "Do you think ...... Something's staring at us? The lantern flame in our hands is beating so badly. β
"Well," Lynch responded, "can't you feel it?" I thought you'd all already be aware of it. β
"My perception is a little weak," Patch's voice finally began to tremble, and he walked quickly to Lynch's side, "What are we going to do?"
Lynch didn't respond, looking at Kenwo, who had been walking silently in front of him, who hadn't spoken since the garden.
"Don't be afraid, it's okay. Kenwo, who was in front, finally spoke: "I can deal with this level, it seems that I have been hiding for a long time, and this time I only came out after the sister was gone." β
"Let's take it for a while, don't alarm it here, and I'll get rid of it when there are fewer people. β
Compared to Patch, Kenwo's voice sounded much calmer, and although he could still feel some tension, it was much better than the Patch who was shaking faster than that of Patch, who had epilepsy.
"Patch," Lynch reluctantly turned back, "Don't be so nervous, Kenwo has said it all...... it!"
Lynch shouted and jumped to Kenwo's side, Kenwo turned around, also startled by Patch's state, and immediately a flame ignited in his hand and walked in the direction of Patch.
"Hey...... Feed...... Kenwo, what are you doing......" Patch's teeth chattered, clutching the lantern in his hand.
There was a thin layer of ice on his body, and white cold air rose from his whole body.
