Chapter 214: Return
He vaguely remembered the orb, the scorching green light from it, and when he looked at the light, the light began to pulsate, getting stronger and stronger.
He also knew that the second he put his hand on the Dragon Ball, he knew he had made a big mistake.
He didn't have enough strength or willpower to control its magic. But it was too late.
The Dragon Ball had taken him under control and imprisoned him, and the most terrifying part of his nightmare was that he knew he was dreaming, but he couldn't escape it.
Now this nightmare has become a terrible reality.
Rollak lowered his head, tasting the salty taste of tears in his mouth. Then he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"Father, I can't bear to see you cry. Please stay away from the window......
Back in bed, our home will be restored again. You can help re-"
However, looking at the scenery outside the window, Albert could not contain his trembling. Sensing her fear, Rollak smiled wryly.
"Will our countrymen come back, Albert?" he said, looking at the green before him that had once been vibrant, but now was decaying and decaying.
'Of course!' replied Albert, without thinking. Lorac patted her hand and said, "Liar, kid! when will the elves lie to each other?"
"I thought, maybe we've been dishonest with ourselves all the time. β
Albert muttered, remembering what Scarlet Moon had said.
"The old God has not forsaken Candela, Father. A priest from Mishakai traveled with us and told us what she knew.
I- I don't want to believe it, father. I'm jealous, she's just a human being.
Why does the true God pin His hope in mankind?
But I now understand that God is as wise as we thought.
They chose humans because we elves simply didn't accept them. In our heartache, in this isolated place, like you and me, we will learn that we cannot live in this world, but we do not want to have anything to do with it.
The elves should not only work to restore this place, but also to rebuild the entire world destroyed by evil. β
Rollak listened, turning his gaze from the view back to his daughter's eyelid. That face shone like a silver moon, and he couldn't help but reach out and caress her.
"Will you bring them back, bring our compatriots back?"
"Yes, Father. She reassured by clasping his thin hands. "We're going to work hard. We will ask the true God for forgiveness.
We'll live with all the races on Clais-" The tears in her eyes choked her as she realized that Lorac couldn't hear what she was saying.
His eyes began to drift as he slowly sat down in his chair.
"I sacrificed everything for this land. He whispered, "Put my body in the dirt, daughter."
I have brought a curse upon it, and perhaps my death will bring blessings to it. β
Rorak's hand slipped from his daughter's hand. Godless eyes stared directly at the ravaged lands of Sivanastia.
But his look of fear was gone, replaced by a serene look.
Albert didn't have time to grieve, and there really wasn't much time left for her.
That night, the group planned to leave Sivanasti. They wanted to head north under the cover of night, knowing that the land they were about to pass through was under the control of the dragonmen's army.
They don't have any maps or markers to refer to.
Ever since they had been tricked into Tarsis, they had not dared to trust any ancient maps.
Moreover, the only map found in Sivabatis is thousands of years old. The group decided to blindly head north from Sivanasti, hoping to find a port that would lead to St. Quest.
They don't have much equipment, as this speeds them up. And there is nothing to carry with them, except for their melancholy mood.
As they retreated, the elves took everything they could eat.
The mage carries the dragon balls, an arrangement that no one dares to argue with him. At first, Robert was worried about how to carry the large crystal ball, which was two feet in diameter.
But the evening before they left, Albert came to Rodrith with a small bag.
"My father used this bag to carry the Dragon Balls. I've always thought the size wasn't the same as that Dragon Ball, but he said the bag was taken from inside the Tower of Magicians. Maybe this will help you. β
The mage took it with a thin hand urgently.
"Ten Kaka, Fort Tucker. Azbil Moyiba Lam Kini," he muttered a mantra, then contentedly watched as the bag glowed pink.
"Yes, there's magic up there. He whispered. Then he looked up at Calamon. "Go and bring the Dragon Balls over. β
Calamon's eyes widened in fright. "I'm not going to die!" said the big man, cursing.
"Tell you to bring the Dragon Balls!" Rodrith angrily ordered his brother. But the latter still shook his head resolutely.
"Oh, don't be stupid, Calamon!" Rodrith said angrily, "Dragon Ball won't hurt people who don't intend to use it."
Trust me, dear brother, you can't even control a cockroach, let alone Dragon Ball!"
"But it might lock me up too. Calamon protested.
"Wow! what it's looking forβ" Rodrith snapped.
"Who is it?" said Robert, quietly, "and what kind of person is it looking for?"
"Clever enough!" said Rodrith glaring. "So I'm sure you guys are safe.
Bring the Dragon Balls, Calamon, or do you want to carry them yourself? or you, the half-elves, or you, the priest of Mishakai?"
Calamon looked at Robert uneasily. The half-elf realizes that the Great Han is begging for his approval.
This was unusual for him, as he always did not hesitate to obey Rodlis.
Robert also noticed that he was not the only one who noticed Calamon's silence. Rhodelis was burning with anger in his eyes.
Robert was even more worried about the mage at this time, which was illogical. He convinced himself that all this was just a legacy of a nightmare.
But that didn't solve his suspicions. What should they do with the Dragon Balls?, in fact, he found that he didn't have much of a choice.
"Let's face it, Rodrith is the only one who has the knowledge and skills to handle Dragon Ball. Robert said vaguely. "I agree that it should be kept by him, or should any of you take the responsibility?"
No one spoke, although River Breeze frowned and shook his head solemnly.
Robert knew very well that if this plainman had a choice, he would choose to leave Rodlis, throw away the Dragon Balls, and leave this place.
"Go, Calamon. Robert said. "You're the only one who can lift it. β
Reluctantly, Calamon lifted the dragon ball from the golden pedestal. His outstretched hand couldn't help but tremble.
However, nothing happened after putting the dragon ball in his hand. At least on the surface, nothing has changed.
Calamon breathed a sigh of relief and grunted as he carried the Dragon Ball to his younger brother, who was waiting with his bag open.
"Throw it in the bag. "Rodrith ordered.
"What?" Calamon looked at the huge dragon ball and the very narrow bag with his mouth open. "No, little brother, it can't fit in! it's going to break!"
Rodrith glared at him, and the big man shut his mouth.
"No! Calamon, wait!" Robert jumped forward, but this time Calamon did.
He looked into his brother's eyes and slowly dropped the dragon balls. Dragon Ball is gone!
"What, whereβ" Robert looked at Rodrith suspiciously.
"In the bag. The mage replied calmly, holding up the bag in one hand. "If you don't believe it, you can see for yourself. β
Robert looked inside the bag. Dragon Ball is indeed inside, there is no doubt about it. He saw the swirling green mist inside, as if it had a life of its own.
He thought in amazement that this must have shrunk, because the Dragon Balls didn't seem to change in size, but Robert had the illusion that he was getting bigger.
Robert stepped back uneasily. Rodrith pulled the rope from the mouth of the bag and quickly tightened it.
Then looking at the crowd with a suspicious expression, he tucked the bag into one of the many hidden pockets in his robe. Just as he was about to turn to leave, Robert stopped him.
"We won't be the same again, will we?" asked the half-elf quietly.
Rodrith looked at him for a moment, and Robert vaguely saw a trace of regret in his eyes, hoping to return to the eyes of mutual trust and friendship when he was young.
"No!" Rodrith whispered, "but it's also the price I pay." He began to cough violently.
"For whom, for what?"
"Don't ask, half-elf. The mage's thin shoulders trembled with coughing.
Caramon put his arm around his brother, and Rodrith leaned weakly against him. When he was a little better, he raised his eyes.
"I can't tell you the answer, Robert, because I don't know it myself. β
He lowered his head and let Calamon lead him to find a place to rest before the journey began.
"I want you to reconsider and let us assist with your father's funeral. Robert said to Albert, who was standing in front of the Tower of the Stars, saying goodbye to them.
"Missing a day doesn't make much difference for us. β
"Yes, please allow us. Scarlet Moon said sincerely. "I know a lot about this, and if Robert is right, my traditions are very close to yours.
I'm a priest of the clan, and I've wrapped a corpse in strips of cloth soaked in spices so that it canβ"
"No, friends. Albert said firmly, pale. "It was my father who wanted me to come by myself. β
This wasn't entirely true, but Albert knew how surprised the men would be to see her sort of her father's body underground, which only goblins and certain evil creatures do, and she flinched.
She subconsciously cast her gaze on the shape-shaped tree that marked his grave, with an ugly ghoul bird standing on top of his grave.
Soon, she looked away, her voice choked up.
"His grave is veryβit was prepared a long time ago, and I have enough experience myself. Please don't worry about me. β
Robert could clearly see the painful nicks on her face, but he had no reason to refuse the request.
"We get it. Scarlet Moon said, and Scarlet Moon instinctively hugged Albert into her arms as if she were holding a lost child.
Albert was initially repulsed, but soon she relaxed in Scarlet Moon's warm embrace.
"Condolences change. Scarlet Moon brushed Albert's black hair off her cheek and took a step back.
"What are you going to do after you bury your father?" asked Robert and Albert as they stood alone on the steps in front of the tower.
"I will return to my compatriots. Albert replied sadly. "The evil of this forest is now gone, and the griffons will return to me and carry me to Argoth.
We will do everything in our power to help destroy this evil force, and then we will return home. β
Robert looked at Sivanasti, the scene was unbearable even during the day, and even more indescribable at night.
"I know. Albert replied with unspoken thoughts. This will be our way of atonement. β
Robert raised an eyebrow suspiciously, knowing how hard she would have to work to convince her compatriots to come back.
Then he sensed the determination in Albert's expression. He estimates that the chances of success will be half and half high.
He smiled and changed the subject. "Will you find time to go to St. Quest?" he asked.
"The knights will be honored to have you here, especially one of them. β
Two red clouds appeared on Albert's pale cheeks. "Maybe!" her voice was almost inaudible.
"I don't know yet. I have a deeper understanding of myself.
But it will take me a long time to make these realizations a part of me. She sighed and shook her head.
"Maybe I'll never learn how to get along with them. β
"Like learning to love a human being?"
Albert looked up and looked at Robert with clear eyes. "Will he be happy, Robert? for I must return to Sivanastia, and he will have to be far from his homeland.
I know that I will have to deal with his growing old and I myself will remain young forever, and do you think I will be happy?"
"I asked myself the same question, Albert. Robert remembered bitterly the decision he had made when he faced Ella.
"If we deny the love that others give us, if we refuse to give it because we are afraid of losing, our lives will be empty, and we will lose even more. β
"When we first met, I was still wondering why these people wanted to follow you. Albert said softly.
"Now I understand. I'll think about what you're saying. Goodbye until the end of your life. β
"Goodbye, Albert. Robert replied by holding her outstretched hand. He had nothing more to say and had to turn away.
But he still couldn't help but think, as he used to think, if I was so wise, then why was my life still a mess?
