Chapter 251: Departure

"Study?" repeated Robert. "Research the Dragon God's Secret Treasure?"

Rodrith glanced at him, then continued to stare at the ceiling. "No," he replied.

"Look up the books, the books written by the ancients who made the secret treasures of the dragon gods.

We had to go to Paranzas, to the library owned by a man named Asternius, who lived there. ”

Robert was silent for a moment. He could hear the mage's breathing hissing and his lungs struggling to breathe in fresh air.

What was it that kept him struggling to survive?, Robert thought quietly.

There was some snow in the morning, after which the snow turned into rain. Robert heard the rain rumbling on the roof of the carriage.

Dense clouds filled the sky. Maybe it was the weather, but whenever he looked at Rodrith, Robert felt a chill seep into his blood, almost freezing his heart.

"Is this what you called an ancient spell?" asked Robert.

"Of course, what else?" replied Rodrith after a moment's pause, coughing, and then asked, "When did I mention it...... This ancient spell?"

"As soon as we find you," Robert replied, observing the mage carefully.

He noticed a wrinkle on Rodlis's forehead, and there was a hint of nervousness in his voice.

"What did I say?"

"Nothing. Robert replied cautiously. "It's just a babble about some ancient spell that will soon become yours. ”

"That's it?"

Robert didn't answer right away. Rodrith's eerie hourglass-like eyes stared at him coldly. The half-elf shuddered and nodded.

Rodrith turned his head away. He closed his eyes, "I want to sleep." He whispered, "Remember, Robert, I'm going to Paranza." ”

Robert was forced to admit that he wanted to go to St. Quest for a more selfish reason.

He hoped that Lorana and Stone would be there, and that was where he had promised to send the Dragon God's Treasure.

However, he had to put into his consideration the fact that Rodrith had repeatedly stressed that he wanted to go to the Asleist Library in Paranzas City to further study the Dragon God's secret treasure.

When they arrived in Forossen, he was still unable to make up his mind. Eventually, he decided to try to find a boat willing to head north, and then decide where he wanted to disembark.

When they arrived at Furoshen, they were really surprised. There were more dragons in the city than they had encountered all the way from Port Baalfo.

The streets are filled with heavily armed patrols, scrutinizing strangers.

Luckily, they had sold the wagon before they entered the city, so they could blend in with the crowd. However, less than five minutes after entering the city gate, they saw a dragon patrol arrest a human for "questioning".

This alarmed them, so they stayed at the first inn they came across, a run-down inn on the edge of the city.

"How are we going to get to the port, let alone find a ship willing to go to sea. ”

As soon as everyone settled in, Calamon was in the middle of the crowded room.

"What happened?"

"The innkeeper said that a dragoon had entered the city. Dragons are looking for spies or sabotage," Robert said unpleasantly. They exchanged glances.

"Maybe they're looking for us. Calamon said.

"That's ridiculous!" replied Robert quickly. "We're scaring ourselves.

How can anyone know we're here, or know what we're carrying?"

"I suspect—" River Breeze's gaze turned to Rodrith.

The mage responded coldly to his gaze, not intending to make any answer. "Go and prepare the hot water I need. He instructed Calamon.

"The only way I can come up is. Robert said that Calamon was following the instructions to bring the hot water, "Calamon will sneak out with me tonight to settle the two soldiers." We stole their uniforms.

It's not a dragon—" He said quickly as he saw Calamon frown in disgust. "Human mercenaries. Then we were free to walk around the ginseng. ”

After discussing it for a while, everyone agreed that this was the only plan that seemed feasible. After everyone had dinner without much appetite, they could only stay in the room, not daring to go out rashly.

"Are you all right?" asked Calamon uneasily as Calamon and Rodrith were alone in their little room.

"I can take care of myself," Rodrith replied. He stood up and picked up a magic book to read.

An uncontrollable cough knocked him to the ground.

Calamon held out his hand, but Rodrith refused to accept.

"Leave!" the mage gasped. "Leave me alone!"

Calamon hesitated, then sighed. "No problem, little brother," he said as he left the room, softly closing the door.

Rodrith stood for a moment, trying to regain his breath. He slowly walked to the other end of the room and put down the magic book.

He reached out with a trembling hand and picked up the pouch that Calamon had placed beside his bed. The mage cautiously opened it and took out the dragon god's secret treasure.

The half-elf pulled his hood down to cover his face and ears, and walked the streets of Flora with Karamon in search of two soldiers of the right size.

It was simple for Robert, but it was difficult to find an armor that Calamon could wear.

They all know it's best to find your target quickly. On more than one occasion, the Dragonman Patrol looked at them suspiciously.

The two dragonmen even stopped them, insisting on knowing what they were going to do. Calamon replied in a simple mercenary dialect, saying that they wanted a job under the Dragoon before the dragon let them go.

Both men knew that it was only a matter of time before they were captured by the patrol.

"I wonder what happened?" Robert said to himself, worried.

Maybe the battle is getting more intense. Calamon began. "Over there, look, Robert, walk into the bar—"

"I saw it. That's right, he's about your size. We ducked into the alley, waited for them to come out, and—" The elf gestured to his neck. Calamon nodded. Two men slipped through the foul-smelling streets into the dark alleyways, watching the front door of the bar.

It's almost midnight. The moon did not rise tonight. The rain has stopped, and dark clouds still hang in the sky.

Even wearing a heavy cloak was useless, and the two guys hiding in the dark alley soon began to tremble.

The rats ran past their feet, making them tremble in the dark. A drunken goblin swerves, walks past them, and falls into a cloud of garbage.

The goblin never got up again, and the stench almost made the two of them vomit. But they did not dare to leave this well-sighted observation point.

Then they heard the long-awaited voices – drunken laughter and humans speaking the lingua franca. Two guards they had been waiting for stepped out and stumbled towards them.

A tall iron street lamp is plugged into the sidewalk, bringing the only light to the night.

The mercenaries stepped under the light to give Robert a chance to see them clearly. He discovers that both are officers in the Dragon Legion.

It must have just been promoted, he guessed, it was the reason why they had just drunk and had fun.

Compared to the others, their armor shimmered without any smudges or dents.

He concluded with satisfaction: the quality of the armor was indeed good. It is made of blue steel, and its appearance is similar to that of a dragon knight.

"Are you ready?" Calamon asked in a low voice, and Robbette nodded.

Calamon draws out the wound. "Elf trash!" he shouted in a deep voice. "I've found you, and now I'm going to take you to the Dragoon, Spy!"

"I'm not going to let you be captured alive!" Robert drew his sword.

At the sound of the noise, the two officers staggered to their feet, looking at the dark alley with drunken eyes.

The officers watched with great interest as the two of them gestured a few times, and slowly prepared their positions.

When Calamon turned his back to the officers and Robert faced them, Robert suddenly knocked Calamon's weapon down with a single sword.

"Hurry up, help me catch him!" shouted Calamon. "Whether he lives or dies, there is a bounty to take if he is caught!"

Without hesitation, the officers drunkenly fumbled with their weapons, and they rushed towards Robert with a cruel smile on their faces.

"That's it!" Calamon urged them, waiting for them to get past him.

Then, as they raised their swords, Karamon's hand grabbed them by the neck and slammed them together with a thud.

Two enemies fell weakly.

"Hurry up!" Robert snorted. He pulled one corpse away from the light, and Calamon followed the other. Soon they were stripped of their armor.

"Wow! this guy must have cannibal troll blood. Calamon used his hands to drive away the foul stench.

"Don't complain!" roared Robert, trying to figure out what the complicated clasps and loops did. "At least you're used to wearing these things. Please help me!"

"Of course. Calamon smiled as he helped Robert put on his armor. "An elf in iron armor. What has become of the world?"

"It's not a good year!" Robert said to himself. "When are we going to meet the captain that William mentioned?"

"He said we could find her during the daytime. ”

"My name is Marquesta. Kathon. Her expression was calm and tinged with a philistine flavor. "Let me guess - you're not officers of the Dragon Legion.

Unless they've recently started hiring elves. ”

Robert's face flushed, and he slowly took off his helmet. "Is it that obvious?"

The woman shrugged. "Probably not for others. That beard is nice - maybe I should say you're half-elf.

The helmet also covers your ears. But unless you get a mask, your olive-shaped beautiful pupils will be a fatal flaw.

Not many dragonmen look at your beautiful eyes, though, do they?" she leaned back in her chair, leaned back on the table, and looked at them coldly.

Robert felt a fiery look on his face when he heard Calamon chuckle.

They sat in the captain's room on the Peri, facing the captain of the ship.

Marquesta Casson, is a dark-skinned race living in Northern Atlantis.

Her compatriots have been begging for a living at sea for centuries, and the vast majority of them believe that they can even communicate with seabirds or dolphins.

Robert found himself involuntarily reminded of Tyros Aionfield when he looked at Marquesta.

The woman's skin was dark and shiny, and her hair was tied up on her forehead with a golden band. Her eyes are as shiny brown as her skin.

She had a dagger of steel on her belt, and her eyes were just as steely.

"We're here to talk business, Captain Marquet," Robert stammered as he read the awkward name.

"Yes, that's right. The woman said. "Just call me Aque. In this way, everyone is more accustomed to it.

You're lucky to have a letter of recommendation from Pig-Faced William, otherwise I wouldn't have connected with you at all.

He said you were very reliable and generous, so I was willing to listen. So, where do you want to go?"

Robert and Calamon exchanged looks. That's the problem. And he's not sure if he's willing to let people know where they're going.

Paranzas is the capital of Sorenia and St. Quest is a famous knight's paradise.

"Oh, please—" Aqua saw their hesitation, anger in his eyes. She lifted her feet off the table and stared at them fixedly. "Either believe me, or get out of here!"

"Should we?" asked Robert bluntly.

Aqua raised an eyebrow on one side. "How much money do you have?"

"Enough money. Robert said. "Let's put it this way, we want to go north, near Ras Nordmar. If you get to that place.

We still feel like we're happy to work together, so let's keep going. Otherwise we will pay you the money and you will take us to a safe port. ”

"Karaman. Aqua said she sat back and thought things were looking interesting.

"It was a safe port. As safe as it was in the past. You pay half of the money now, and half more when you get to Karaman. If you want to go to another place, you can discuss it again. ”

"Pay until Karaman!" Robert said.

After more than half a year of twists and turns, their funds have been pitiful.

If it hadn't been for the idea of the wandering troupe, their meagre savings would have been exhausted long ago.

"Who can guarantee that?" said Aqua shrugged. "It's not calm to sail on the seas right now. ”

She stood up with ease, like a cat's stretch. Calamon also quickly stood up, suddenly admiring the beautiful woman in front of him.

"Deal!" she said. "Come on. I'll show you the boat. Aqua led them up to the deck.

From the layman's point of view to Robert, the ship looked perfectly suitable, and there was nothing wrong with it.

She spoke in a very cold tone at first, but seemed to become enthusiastic as she began to show them around the ship.

Aque's tone and expression as he introduced the ship reminded Robert that Lena had used the same tone and expression to refer to Calamon.

It's strange that Pyrid is apparently Aqua's only love.
