Chapter 225: The Chase (I)
"Ahsarivana," he said intermittently, "forgive me. I didn't mean to get you into my troubles. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. All I know is ......"
"This thing...... You have to do it. Ahsarivana picked up his words.
Gircenas looked up. Ahsarivana covered her body with a torn blanket. This action only made the flames in his body rise even higher.
Her waist-length silver hair shimmered in the moonlight. The blanket barely covered her smooth skin.
Gilthenus slowly stood up and walked over to her. She was still standing at the edge of the forest, threatening to escape at any moment. He could still feel her fear. But she's put down the knife, and at least that's good.
"Ah, Sharivana. He said, "What I did violated all elven traditions.
When my sister told me to steal the Dragon Balls, I should have told my father directly, and I should have warned everyone immediately.
I should have hidden the Dragon Balls myself-"
Asharivana took a step closer, still clutching the blanket. "So, why didn't you?"
She asked in a low voice.
Gireenas stood very close to the end of the pool. The water that flowed down from that side was like a silver curtain.
"Because I know my countrymen are wrong, Lolana is right, Stone is right. It was right to give the Dragon Balls to humans!
So, we have to win this battle! My people are wrong, their laws. Their traditions are all wrong. I knew β I knew it in my heart! But I couldn't convince myself. It pains meβ"
Asharivana slowly approached the edge of the pool, and at the same time walked from the other side to the silver curtain.
"I understand. She whispered. "My ...... My compatriots couldn't understand what I was doing, or what I was doing. But I know what's right, and I believe in myself. β
"I envy you sincerely, O Sharivana. Gireenas whispered.
He stepped on the largest rock in the pool. Asharivana's silver hair flew like a heavenly Milky Way falling over her shoulder, and she was now only a few feet away from Gircenas.
"Ahh "There is another reason why I left my compatriots. You get the idea. β
He held out his hand to her, palm up.
Asharivana stepped back and shook her head. Her breathing became rapid.
Gircenas took another step forward. "Ahsarivana, I love you!" he said softly.
"You look very lonely. Just like me. Please, O Sharivana, I swear, I won't leave you alone again......"
Ahsarivana hesitantly raised her hand at him. Gilthenus pulled her across the water as fast as lightning, hugged her, and placed her on a stone beside him.
By the time she realized that she had fallen into the trap, it was too late, and it wasn't the man's hug that trapped her, because she could easily break free.
It was her love for men that made her fall into it, and his deep and unapologetic love for her had already decided the fate of the two, and it also made him trapped in the cage of fate together.
Gireenas could feel her body trembling, but looking into her eyes, he now understood that she was driven by passion, not fear.
He cupped her face and kissed her lovingly. Asharivana still clutched the blanket with one hand, but her other hand responded to his hug. Her lips were soft, just as intoxicated as his.
Suddenly, Girsenas felt Cheng Wei's tears on his lips. He stepped back, surprised to see that she was weeping.
"Ah, Sharivana, don't cry! I'm sorryβ" He let go of her.
"No!" she said in a hoarse voice in his ear. "I'm not in tears because of your enthusiasm offended. I'm crying for myself, you won't understand. β
She shyly reached out a hand and grabbed him by the neck to let him close. As he kissed her, he felt her other hand, the one that had been grasping the blanket covering his body, caressing his face with infinite affection.
Asharivana's blanket slipped silently into the river, following the silver current, heading for an unknown place.
ββ
At noon the next day, because they had reached the source of the river in the mountains, they were forced to abandon the boat.
The river is shallow and foaming at the water. Many of the small boats of the Caganasti elves were also placed on the shore. After pulling the boat ashore, the group immediately encountered a group of Kaganasti elves who had come out of the forest.
They held the corpses of two young elven warriors. Some of the elves drew their weapons, and if it weren't for the fact that Sharivana and Telos immediately came forward to talk to them, I am afraid they would have gone on a killing spree.
The two of them talked to the Kaganasti elves for a long time, and the group looked down the river uneasily.
As soon as the Kaganasti elves felt safe enough, they set out at dawn. But more than once they saw the black boat chasing after them.
When Telos returned, his swarthy face became even more solemn. Asharivana was flushed with anger.
"My compatriots are not willing to help us. "Ah, Sharivana returns. "They have been attacked twice by the Zhexi people today. They blame the humans who came on the white ships for this new evil invasionβ"
"That's ridiculous!" Lorana interrupted. "Tyros, didn't you tell them about these dragonmen?"
"I tried. The blacksmith said. "But I'm afraid the evidence is not against you. The Calganasti elves saw the white dragon on your ship, but they did not see you driving her away.
Regardless, they have agreed to let you through their sphere of influence, but they will not help us in any way.
This was obtained by me and Asharivana with the guarantee of our lives. β
"What are the dragonmen doing here?" the terrifying memories of Lolana came back to her mind.
"How many of them are there? Has the continent of South Atlantis also been invaded? If that's the case, maybe we should turn back-"
"No, I don't think so. Telos said thoughtfully. "If the army of dragoons is ready to take the island, they should send thousands of dragons and hundreds of wyverns.
They look like they're just a small patrol that makes things worse. The dragoons may have felt that the elves would kill each other first, without making them have to make a big deal of trouble. β
"The Dragons are not ready to attack Atlantis. Derek said. "They don't have a strong enough position in the north yet, so they're still waiting for the right moment.
But it's only a matter of time, which is why we are so eager to take the Dragon Ball to San Quest and convene the Council of St. White Rock there to decide what to do with it. β
Everyone gathered their supplies and began to make their way through the uneven terrain. Asharivana led them along a path close to the river.
They could feel that the unkind eyes of the Kaganasti elves were always following them.
The terrain quickly began to climb, becoming treacherous and steep. Tyros was quick to tell them that this was a place he had never visited;
It was only up to Salivana to lead everyone forward, and Lorana was very unhappy about this situation.
She guessed that something must have happened between her brother and the girl that would make the two of them exchange secret smiles from time to time.
When Ashalivana was with her compatriots, she took the time to change into a set of clothes. She now wears the everyday costume of a Kaganasti elven woman;
A full suit of leather jackets and leather pants, covered with a heavy wool coat.
After her hair was groomed, everyone knew her name for a reason. Her long shiny silver hair, shining with a strange metallic sheen, was scattered over her shoulders, exuding a distinctive temperament.
Asharivana is a wizard of incredible ability, and they are forced to rush to catch up with her.
She and Girsenas walked side by side, talking non-stop in Elven language along the way. Shortly after sunset, they came to a dark cave.
"We're going to spend the night here. "We should have gotten rid of our pursuers." Not many people know the way inside the mountain.
But it's best not to risk a fire, because you'll have to eat cold for dinner. β
The daytime climb exhausted the crowd. After eating, they set up sleeping places inside the cave.
Everyone hugged the blankets and all the heavy clothes, and fell asleep with huddles. When arranging the order of the vigil, Lolana and Ashalivana insisted on sharing the worries of the group.
Nothing changed throughout the night, except for the sound of the cold wind blowing through the rocks outside.
The next morning, Wade abruptly retreated when he went out from the cave's inconspicuous mantra to see the scenery.
He put his finger to his lips and gestured for everyone to follow him out.
Telos pushed away the boulder that was used to hold back the population, and the group tiptoed out after Wade.
He led them to a junction no more than twenty feet from the entrance of the cave, and pointed to the snow on the ground with a solemn face.
There were clear footprints on the ground, and strong winds and heavy snow had not had time to hide them. The footprints did not sink into the deep snow.
No one spoke, as everyone could recognize it, which was clearly characteristic of the elven tracks.
"They must have overtaken us in the evening. Ahsharivana said. "We can't stay here for long, they will soon find out that they have lost people and start walking back. We need to get out of here. β
"I don't see the difference. Francisco muttered in displeasure. He pointed to their own recognizable footprints, and then looked up at the blue sky.
"It's better for us to just sit here and wait for them, which saves them time and saves us the hassle. There's no way we're going to cover our footprints!"
"Maybe we can't hide our footprints. "But we still have a chance to get a few miles ahead of them." β
"Maybe. Derek said solemnly. He bent down to unsheath his sword and walked back into the cave.
Lolana grabs Stone. "There must be no bloodshed!" she whispered nervously, noticing Drake's actions.
The knight shook his head and followed the others. "We can't let your compatriots stop us from sending the Dragon Balls to San Quest. β
"I know!" Lolana whispered. She lowered her head and walked helplessly into the cave. The others were immediately ready to go. Drake stood at the mouth of the cave, looking impatiently at Lorana.
"You go first. She didn't want anyone else to see her in tears. "I'll be right there. β
Drake left impatiently. Telos, Stone and the others slowed their pace and looked at Lorana worriedly.
"You go first. She gestured. She needed to be alone for a while.
But all she had in her mind was Drake's hand on the scabbard. "No!" she swore solemnly to herself.
"I will never fight my people. Once this is done, it is tantamount to giving the dragon a victory. I'll lay down my weapons first-"
She heard footsteps behind her. As soon as she turned, her hand rested reflexively on the hilt of her sword, a sight that made Lolana stunned for a moment.
"Ah, Sharivana?" she was surprised to see the girl hiding in a dark corner. "I thought you were gone, what are you doing here?"
Rolana walked quickly to where Asharivana had just knelt on the ground, her hands seemingly fiddling with something on the floor.
The wild elf quickly stood up.
"W- nothing. Ahsharivana muttered. "I'm just packing my things. β
Behind Asharivana, on the icy cave floor, Lolana thought she had seen the Dragon Ball, its surface glowing with a strange light.
But before she could take a chance to look further, Asharivana hurriedly covered the Dragon Balls with her cloak.
As she did so, Lorana also noticed that she had been hiding with her body what she had just fiddled with on the ground.
"Come on, Lorana. "Let's move a little faster." I'm sorry if I'm dragging you guys downβ"
"Just a while. Lolana said solemnly. She began to walk behind the wild elves. Ahsharivana clung to her.
"We've got to hurry!" she said in a very strong tone. Even through Lolana's heavy cloak, she still scratched Lolana in faint pain.
"Let go of me!" Rolana said coldly as she looked at the girl, and there was neither fear nor anger in her green eyes. Asharivana lowered her eyes and let go of her hand.
Lolana walked to the back of the cave and looked down to take a closer look. She didn't see anything unusual, there were some twigs and bark on the ground, and blackened pieces of wood, some stones, and that's it.
If it's some kind of sign, it's very rudimentary. Lolana kicked something off the ground with her boot and turned around to grab Asharivana's arm.
"Look. Rolana said coldly in Elven language, "The message you left for your friend will be hard to read. β
Ah, is Sharivana a spy or not? It's a question worth digging into. Lorana's distrust of her was palpable, but the situation left her with no choice.
This absconding started because of her, and maybe she will fail in the end. 10
