Chapter Seventy-One: Listen to Covel's Story
"Well, if I say I don't know this treacherous uncle, would you believe me?"
Glancing at the principals and caravan leaders who were staring at me with unkind expressions, I wiped the sweat from my head and said with a dry smile, but I didn't expect it to be exchanged for a more cautious and defensive look from everyone around me.
"Well, I don't think I'll believe it, after all, we came together, and we were in the same car, and I didn't believe I wouldn't know it, but I really didn't know. β
"Uncle Covel, can you explain what lies beneath the straw in the grain cart?"
Turning around, I looked at Colville, who was hiding behind Betsy and the three of them, and said through gritted teeth.
"It's nothing, just a few young Tipsies. β
Coville, who poked his head out secretly, waved his hand weakly, and said perfunctorily with a smile on his face.
Scold~
"Oh~yes? I didn't hear clearly, please say it again. β
The holy sword on my waist suddenly unsheathed in half, revealing a deep cold light, and I smiled coldly at Coville.
"Okay, okay, I say, I say. Actually, there really isn't anything. β
Seeing that I was angry, Coville shivered, muttering an explanation as he reluctantly walked towards the carriage behind which the howl of a young wolf was heard.
Sou~
After Colville and his men lifted the straw from the wagon and the food bags hidden around it, three squealing turquoise wolf cubs appeared in everyone's sight.
Whew~
In the empty carriage, the three wolf cubs staggered to their feet.
The satin-like cyan fur carries the breath of the wind, and the shining emerald green eyes are like the most brilliant jade, and when the mouth is opened and howls to the sky, the two sharp and immature little baby teeth look very cute, and the twisted body grabs the little teddy who was quite pleasing in the previous life, but it is indeed a jade-colored teddy.
Swish~
Like a gust of wind, the white light flashed in front of everyone's intuitive eyes, and the three little wolf cubs were hugged and intimate by the three girls, and the doting look obviously forgot the danger at hand.
"That Arya, these little wolf cubs are actually ......"
"My !!"
The three young girls who were sitting in the carriage holding the wolf cub affectionately interrupted what General Covel was about to say with a willful expression, and the caravan leaders and principals around him were dumbfounded.
Meow~~~
A cat meow rang out, and my brain cleared up from the intoxication of the wolf cub. I knew it was Marshall's simulated spirit magic, and sure enough, when I turned around, I saw the familiar black cat.
"Really, how can you be so naΓ―ve? Why don't you put the wolf cub down and listen to Uncle Covel speak well. β
When I came to my senses, I put down the wolf cub in my hand, and one by one I broke down and slammed it on the heads of Betsy and Bonnie, so painful that they clutched their heads tightly, and crystal tears rolled in their eyes.
"Ahem, Arya, you may not believe it, but these wolf cubs were entrusted to me by an endangered she-wolf in the Grimm Forest before her death. β
Coville tried his best not to pay attention to the unreliable three girls in front of him, closed his eyes and explained in a compassionate tone, not noticing the expressions of the people around him who believed that you were ghosts.
"It was a rainy afternoon, and the day before I met Arya, I was a little drunk and met a navy blue wind wolf on the outskirts of Grimm's Forest. βdm
"To be honest, when I first saw that wind wolf beast, I was frightened on the spot, and my head was clouded for a while, why is there such a big wind wolf in front of me? Could it be that my Covel is over now? Will I be torn apart by the other party on the spot?"
"But gradually, I realized that something was wrong, that the stout wind wolf was just staring at me tightly, with a look of vigilance, coldness, and hostility. β
And when I was about to turn to leave, the coldness in the eyes of the incomparably strong sealed wolf gradually turned into exhaustion, sadness, despair and reluctance, I never thought that in the eyes of a demonic beast, I could see such a humane expression, and the next change made me stay in place. β
With a loud bang, the wind wolf beast suddenly fell to the ground like that, and its body couldn't help twitching, it turned out that it was dying at that time, and a big hole was torn out of its neck by an unknown monster, and I knew that this wind wolf was finished. β
At this moment, from behind the wind wolf came a few wails similar to that of a lamb, and I forced myself to hold back the fear in my heart, and I walked close to the wind wolf. β
Behind him I was stunned by the three bloodshot wolf cubs, who seemed to have just been born and did not know anything about the welcome around them, and only a small layer of fluff on their bodies, howling in the cold wind in the continuous autumn rain, and they looked like they were about to die. β
"I don't know why, looking at the wind wolf mother and the wolf cubs in front of me, I think of my dead wife and the lonely little girl under my knees. β
"Ignoring the autumn rain, I took off my robe, took the three little wind wolves in my arms, and brought them to the wind wolf's mother, just to let it know that his children are still alive, and I will take care of the little ones for it. β
"You may not believe it, but when I brought the little wolf cubs to the wind wolf mother, the wind wolf mother didn't struggle too much, staring at the little ones quietly, and her mouth kept whimpering, like complaining, crying, and wailing so much that my heart was broken, knowing that watching the little wind wolves to the last moment of life. β
"Since then I have considered the little ones my family, but I didn't expect that one day the head wolf of Greenforest would find the little ones and take them away. β
"I don't know what the little ones will be like when they leave my care, I don't know if they will be bullied, whether they will grow up healthy and safe, so every time I carefully move with them, but every time they are found by the wolves. β
"Woo woo woo, please help me, don't let the harmony wolves leave me, we are an inseparable family. β
I never thought that a big man could cry so sadly, and the tears kept falling like clockwork.
"Well, Uncle Covel, don't cry, I'm sure you are. β
Looking at the middle-aged uncle crying in front of him, there was a trace of restlessness in the crowd, and my information was a little sour.
"No!!"
Just as we were about to cry, Bessie's cold voice sounded in a dull atmosphere, which unsurprisingly aroused the angry eyes of a few people.
"How do we know if you're telling the truth, and if you want to train the little wolves to grow up healthy, why do you want to take them to Hax City?
"The wolves in front of you blocked the road with such fanfare, is it because they found the traces of the three wolf cubs, so they did not hesitate to fight to the death to bring back the wolf cubs?
Bessie, who had long silver-gray hair and glasses, pushed the glasses on the bridge of her nose, staring at Colville with burning eyes, not noticing the hostile crowd around her.
"No, what I said is true, don't you believe it, little Bessie?"
With tears in his eyes, Coville looked at the sharp-tongued little Lori in front of him with resentment, which caused more people to be dissatisfied with Bessie.
"Well, even if the story of the she-wolf and the wolf cub you said is true, I don't believe that Uncle Covel is telling the truth now, don't you have any other thoughts? β
Despite the hostility of more people earlier, Betsy still said to the crying Coville in front of her, just as she had always believed. Truth is often in the hands of a few, and I am the few. β
Whispers gradually began to emerge from the crowd, and those who reacted to Betsy's words felt that there was indeed some truth, and the arguments became louder and louder, and the sweat on Coville's head gradually flowed more and more.
"Uncle Coville, it's too much to take the Wind Wolf's child like this. And keeping them in captivity is also cruel to the little wolves, who are born to gallop in the grasslands and jungles, and not to be tied to carriages and cages for the pleasure of workers. β
"And more importantly, the little wolf's parents have come to the door, and if they don't let go, be careful that they will be eaten in their stomachs today. β
Cowill, who was still struggling with Bessie's words, couldn't help but shudder after hearing Bessie's last speech, calmed down, and let out a long breath, the color of struggle in his eyes was replaced by calm.
Gritting his teeth, he made a decision in his heart.
