Chapter 296: The Trick (I)
As long as I knew what was going on now, it seems that this stupid woman doesn't know what I'm thinking.
Seeing Lorana's gloomy expression, he was sure that she would put her threats into action.
He's going to have to wait for a good opportunity.
"It looks like I don't have a choice," he said.
The moonlight shone through the bars into the foul-smelling cell and on Bakaris's face.
He's been in prison for almost a week, and he doesn't know exactly what time it is, he's lost the concept of time.
As he reached for his cloak, he noticed that Lorana's cold green eyes were narrowing slightly, looking at him in disgust.
Bakaris involuntarily reached out his still movable hand and grabbed the beard that had just grown.
"I'm sorry, young lady," he said sarcastically, "but the servants in your house didn't bring razors.
I can also understand you elves, how disgusted you are to see the hair on your face!" Baccaris was surprised to find that the passage had an unexpected effect.
Lorana's face was bloodless, and her lips were as white as paper. She is suppressing herself with superhuman control.
"Hurry up!" said in a muffled voice.
As soon as the dwarf heard the voice, he immediately walked in with his hand on the handle of the battle axe.
"You heard the general, too," Hubble growled. "Hurry up. I don't know how you guy deserve to swap with Robert-"
"Hubble!" Lolana said nervously.
Bakaris suddenly understood! Ella's plan began to take shape in his mind.
"It turns out that Robert is the one I want to swap for. He looked carefully at Lorana's face.
No response. It was as if he had just mentioned a stranger, not her lover, whom Ella had mentioned.
He tried again to test his theory. "I wouldn't consider him a prisoner, though, unless you're talking about a prisoner of love.
Ella must have grown tired of him.
Ah, poor fellow. I'm going to miss him, he has so much in common with me-"
Now there is a reaction. He saw the muscles of his jaw twitching, his shoulders trembling under his cloak.
Lorana turned and walked out of the cell door without saying a word. He's right.
It had something to do with the bearded half-elf.
But what the hell is going on? Robert left Ella in Floros, and was he caught again?
Or did he come back to her?" Bakarius silently put his cloak on.
None of this matters to him now. He will be able to use this news to pave the way for his revenge plans.
Bakarius remembered Lorana's muscular stiff and tense face in the moonlight, and as the dwarf pushed him out, he silently thanked him for the protection after the darkness.
Although the sun has not yet come out, the reddish eastern sky has wordlessly predicted that dawn is coming.
It was still dark in Karaman, a city that had fallen asleep after a revelry.
Even the guards yawned at their posts, and some simply fell their heads and snorted.
It was a breeze for the four heavily cloaked men to slip past the guards.
Unhindered, they came to a small gate in the wall.
"It used to be a staircase leading to the top of the wall, and after crossing the wall, it came from the other side. Wade whispered, his hands searching for the tools to pick the lock in the bag.
"How do you know?!" Hubble looked nervously around.
"I used to come to Karaman when I was a kid," Wade said. He pulled out the thin piece of wire, and deftly inserted it into the pin hole with his little hands.
"My parents brought me here. We've always been down that path. β
"Why don't you go through the main entrance, is that too easy for you?" Hubble whispered.
"Hurry up!" said Lorana impatiently.
"We actually want to use the front door, too," Wade fiddled with the wire.
"Ah, alright. He pulled the wire out, carefully tucked it into the package, and quietly opened the old door.
"Where did I just go? Oh, yes.
We'd love to go through the front gate too, but the Kandes can't get into Karaman City. β
"Your parents are still in!" Hubble said contemptuously, as he followed Wade through the door and up a series of narrow stairs.
The dwarf listened intently to the Kanders as he watched intently from Bakaris.
In his opinion, Bakalis was also a little too cooperative.
Lolana didn't speak to anyone else at all, and the only words that came out of her mouth were orders urging everyone to hurry up.
"Of course," Wade said happily. "They have always thought that this is an overly careful measure. I mean, why do we have to be on the same level as goblins?
Someone must have accidentally written us in. But my parents thought it was rude to argue with someone, so we had to go in and out through the side door.
Convenient for everyone, we arrived.
Open that door, it's usually not locked.
Oh, be careful. There's a guard over there. Wait for him to walk over. The crowd clung to the wall, hiding in the shadows, and waited until the guards dragged their heavy steps past and breathed a sigh of relief.
Then they crept over the wall, into another door, down another staircase, and finally out of the wall.
There wasn't anyone around. Hubble looked around, but saw no sign except the dawn.
He shuddered and tightened his cloak, and a feeling of unease began to envelop him.
What if Ella is telling the truth? What if Robert is really with him? What if he's really going to die?
Hubble angrily forced himself to stop thinking about it.
He almost hoped inwardly that it was a trap! A hoarse voice interrupted his gloomy thoughts, as if it were right in his ears, and startled him.
"Is that you, Baccaris?"
"Yes, it's nice to meet you, Gahan. β
Hubble shuddered and turned to see a figure emerge from the shadows by the wall.
It wore a heavy cloak and wrapped its whole body in clothes. He remembered Wade's description of the dragonmen.
"Did they carry any other weapons?" said Garhan, looking at Hubble's tomahawk.
"Nope. Lolana replied decisively.
"Search them. "Gahan ordered Bakaris.
"I assure you in my honor," Lorana said angrily. "I'm the princess of Wellingtonβ"
Bakaris took a step forward. "Elves have their own code of honor," he said dismissively.
"That's what you said when you shot me with that damn arrow. β
Lorana's face suddenly turned red, and Baccaris raised his right hand with his left hand, then let it fall limply.
"You ruined me, my life. β
Lolana looked at him unflinching, "I said I wasn't armed. β
"You can search me if you want," Wade welcomed it with his hands raised and unexpectedly blocked between Bakaris and Lorana.
"Look!" he poured a bag of fellows on Bacaris's feet.
"Damn!" Baccaris cursed and slapped him.
"Hubble!" Lorana gritted her teeth warned the dwarf. She could clearly see the dwarf, already flushed with anger. At her warning, the dwarf held back his anger.
"I-I'm sorry, really!" Wade sobbed as he picked up the stuff all over the floor.
"If you delay any longer, we won't need to notify the guards in particular," Lorana said coldly, deciding not to give in to the man's hateful touch.
"The sun is about to rise, and the guards can see us clearly. β
"That elf is right, Bakaris," there was a hint of nervousness in the Kahan lizard's voice.
"Take the dwarven axes away, and we'll get out of here at once. β
Bakaris looked at the white sky, then at the dragonman, and finally glared at Lolana viciously, and took the tomahawk from the dwarf.
"He's not a threat at all!
What can an old man like him do?" muttered Bacaris.
"Hurry up," Garhan ordered Lorana, ignoring Bakaris' complaints. "Go to the bushes.
Be secretive and don't alarm the guards.
I'm a magician, and my spells don't forgive. After darkness, there is only an explanation to bring you to peace, but there is no mention of your two friends. β
They followed Gahan through the open plain outside the city, to the place where the trees were thick, hiding as dark as they could on the way.
Bakaris walked beside Lorana. She held her head high, unwilling to admit that she had him by her side.
Reaching the forest, Gahan pointed forward.
"Here's our means of transportation," he said.
"We're not going to get out of here!" Rolana said angrily, looking at the creature with alarm.
At first, Hubble thought they were smaller dragons, but as they got closer, the dwarves couldn't help but hold their breath.
"It's a pterodactyl!" he whispered.
Pterodactyls are only distantly related to real dragons, and they are smaller and lighter than real dragons.
It is often used by dragoons as a messenger, just as elves use griffons.
They are a far cry from the intelligence of true dragons, and are known for their violent and brutal personalities.
The animals of the forest glared at them with red eyes, their scorpion-like tails wagging incessantly.
The tail is covered in poison and can kill enemies mercilessly in a matter of seconds.
"What about Robert?" asked Lorana.
She begins to realize that she has fallen into the trap of the Dragoon, as events have turned out to be completely different from what she had expected.
She thought that when she arrived at the place where Bacaris had spoken, she would see Robert, the half-elf who had broken her heart, but could never forget it.
In any case, only Lolana is in control of the big picture now. Rhodelis remained in the Great Library, delving into ancient magic books.
At such a critical juncture, if decisions are not made quickly, the situation, which has just stabilized for a short time, will soon turn into even more terrible turmoil.
