Chapter 268: Abnormality
The sound of the armor stopped right outside their door, with an eerie, piercing sound of metal clashing.
Calamon clenched his sword and gestured to his brother, obviously not daring to take it lightly, even at night, he should beware of the attack of the dragoon.
Rodrith nodded, retreating into the shadows.
His eyes were focused, and a spell was silently reciting in his head.
The twins work together with a heart, seamlessly combining magic and steel to defeat their foes.
The candlelight under the door began to flicker.
The guy must have changed the candle to his hand and left his hand free for the sword.
Calamon reached out and silently pushed the latch shut. He waited for a moment, but there was no response.
The man hesitated, perhaps wondering if it was this room or not.
He'll find out soon, Callamon told himself.
Calamon pulled the door open suddenly, and the man who grabbed the door pulled him in.
Calamon threw him to the ground with his thick arms, and the candle on the ground was immediately extinguished.
Rodlis began to chant - spells that trapped opponents in cobwebs.
"Wait, Rodrith, stop!" the man shouted, and Calamon recognized the voice, and quickly grabbed his brother and shook him out of his trance.
"Little Ray! It's Robert!"
Rodrith shuddered and woke up from his trance, his hands hanging limply.
Then he grabbed his chest and began to cough violently.
Calamon looked at his twin brother worriedly, but Rodrith waved him away.
Calamon turned and pulled the half-elf up from the floor.
"Robert!" he hugged the half-elf warmly, hugging him breathlessly.
"Where have you been? We're scared to death. Oh my God, you're freezing to death!
Come, I'll turn the fire up a little bit. Little Ray—" Calamon looked at his brother, "Are you sure you're okay?"
"Don't waste your time on me!" said Rodlis, hoarsely.
The mage sat back on the bed, struggling to breathe.
His golden eyes reflected the firelight, and he looked at Robert with burning menselness, who was huddled by the fire. "You'd better wake up the others quickly. “
"That's right. Calamon walked out the door.
"Before that, I'm going to wear more clothes. Rodrith said scoffingly.
Calamon blushed and came back and put on his pants and put on a blouse.
He slammed the door shut and walked out. Both Robert and Rodrith heard him and were knocking quietly at the plainman's door.
They also heard the answer of the river breeze flat, and the voice of Calamon excitedly explaining everything.
Robert looked at Rodrith and noticed that his hourglass-shaped pupils were staring sharply at him, and turned uneasily to stare at the flames.
"Where did you go, half-elf?" Rodrith whispered hoarsely.
Robert swallowed nervously. "I've been taken prisoner by a dragoon," he replied, carrying a prepared pre-prepared back.
"The dragoon would think I was his officer, and naturally asked me to escort him to the troops stationed outside the city.
I had to do as he was told, lest he become suspicious. Then, it wasn't until tonight that I finally found a chance to slip away. ”
"Interesting. Rodrith coughed out two words.
Robert looked at him suddenly, "What's so interesting?"
"I've never seen you lie, half-elf. Rodrith said softly. "I ...... Felt...... Quite ...... Interesting. ”
Robert opened his mouth, but before he could reply, Calamon hurried back.
Behind them were River Breeze, Scarlet Moon, and Lena, who were yawning drowsily.
Scarlet Moon stepped forward and hugged Robert. "Robert!" she said, hugging him tightly. "We're so worried—"
River Breeze took his hand, a smile on his serious face. He gently pulled his wife away and hugged Robert himself.
"Brother!" River Wind said in the dialect of the Plains into Qurandaan, hugging the half-elf.
"We're worried you're arrested! We even thought you'd be dead, we didn't know—"
"What's going on, where have you been?" asked Lena eagerly, hugging Robert as well.
Robert looked at Rodrith, but he was lying on a hard pillow with his eyes fixed on the ceiling, as if he wasn't interested in anything else.
Robert involuntarily cleared his throat, subconsciously noticing that Rodrith was also listening, and he repeated the story he had made up.
Others listened with sympathy and curiosity on their faces. Occasionally, they ask questions.
What kind of people will the Dragoons be? How many troops will there be? Where will they be stationed? What are the Dragoons doing in Florosan? Are they really looking for us?
How did Robert escape?
Robert gushed to answer their questions.
When it comes to dragoons, he doesn't see his face and doesn't know what kind of person he is.
The number of troops is not large. They were stationed outside the city. The dragons are looking for someone, but not them.
They're looking for a human named Belcleral, or some strange guy.
When Robert said this, he immediately looked at Calamon, but the big man's face was blank.
Robert's breathing smoothed.
Well, Calamon couldn't remember the man they had seen on the Pericul.
It's either that he doesn't remember, or he's forgetting his name. Anyway, it's the best.
Others nodded, captivated by his story. Robert breathed a sigh of relief.
As for Rodlis...... It didn't matter what the mage thought or said anyway.
Even if the half-elves say that day is night, everyone will still trust Robert and doubt Rodrith.
Rodlis is clearly aware of this, which is why he has not questioned the whole story in any way.
Robert felt a heavy sense of guilt, and wished that no one would ask any more questions, lest he would be forced to make up another lie.
He had an idea, and began to yawn, looking too tired to wait.
Scarlet Moon immediately stood up, her face full of concern.
"I'm sorry, Robert. She said softly. "We are so selfish.
You're cold and tired, and we're forcing you to keep talking. I'll have to get up early tomorrow morning to catch a boat. ”
"Damn, Scarlet Moon, don't be stupid. There's no way we're going to get on board in this weather!" Robert growled.
Everyone looked at him in amazement, and even Rodrith sat up straight.
Crimson Moon's eyes darkened, and the lines of her face stiffened, reminding the half-elf that no one had ever spoken to her in such a tone.
River Breeze stood beside her, a look of embarrassment on his face.
The atmosphere was unsettlingly silent.
Finally, Calamon snorted twice, clearing his throat. "If we can't leave tomorrow, try again the day after tomorrow. He comforted everyone.
"Don't worry, Robert. It's impossible for even a dragonman to run around in this weather.
We are safe. "I know, I'm sorry. He whispered.
"Scarlet Moon, I didn't mean to yell at you. I've been nervous these days.
I was so tired and my head was a mess. Now I'm going back to my room. “
"The innkeeper gave your room to someone else. Calamon said, adding hurriedly, "But you can sleep here, Robert, and sleep in my bed—"
"No, I'll just lie on the ground. Robert dodged Scarlet Moon's gaze and began to remove his armor, looking at his trembling fingers.
"Sleep well, friend. Scarlet Moon said softly.
Hearing the concern in her voice, he could imagine her exchanging sympathetic glances with River Breeze.
The plainman put his hand on his shoulder and slapped him encouragingly.
Eventually, everyone left, and Lena muttered goodnight and closed the door gently.
"Come, let me help you. Calamon knew that Robert was not accustomed to wearing silver armor and was helpless by the delicate buttons and loops, so he volunteered.
"Would you like me to get you something to eat, drinks, maybe a glass of ginger ale?"
"No need. Robert said tiredly, glad he had finally shed his heavy armor, trying not to think that he would have to put it on in a few hours.
"I just want to go to bed first. ”
"Come and at least use my blanket," Calamon insisted, seeing the half-elf shivering with cold.
Robert gratefully accepted the blanket, though he wasn't sure if he was shivering from the cold or from the confusion in his heart.
He lay down and wrapped his body tightly in a cloak and blanket.
Then close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing evenly and regularly.
He knew that the old hen of Calamon would not close his eyes until he had a good rest.
The flames were extinguished, and darkness enveloped him.
A few minutes later, he heard Calamon breathing heavily.
On the other bed, he could hear Rodlis's faint cough.
After making sure that the twins were asleep, Robert reached out and pillowed his head, looking awakely at the dark ceiling.
It was almost dawn before the dragoon would rush back to the Morrowind Inn.
The guy on duty at night immediately saw that the dragoon was in a very bad mood.
She unscrewed the door open more rudely than the storm, and looked at the inn with a burning belly, as if the comfort and warmth inside made her unbearable.
Indeed, she seems to be the same kind of person as the storm outside.
It was she who made the flame of the candle shake, not the wind outside. She was the one who brought the darkness into the inn.
The staff scrambled to their feet, but the dragoon was not looking at him.
Ella glared at a dragonman sitting at a table gesticulating, her dark reptilian eyes flashing with a sign that something was wrong.
Under the hideous mask, the dragoon's eyes narrowed vigilantly, and his expression was very cold.
For a brief moment, she stood quietly in the doorway, despite the cold wind that blew her cloak in the wind.
"Come upstairs!" she said rudely to the dragonman.
The dragonman nodded and followed her, his claws scraping against the plank.
"What's the matter—" The night clerk began, startled by the slamming of the door.
"It's okay!" yelled Ella, her face very ugly.
With her hand on the hilt of her sword, she walked past the trembling fellow and walked up the stairs to her room without looking back.
The man sat back in his chair with a shudder, as if he had been quite frightened.
