Chapter 155: Green Smoke

"Rodlis, go down with him and light the way," Robert deliberately ignored Stone's angry look as he looked back. "Calamon and Scarlet Moon walked together. The river breeze and I walk at the back to protect you. ”

"Where are we going then?" Hubble muttered to the Khand, and the two of them followed Scarlet Moon and Calamon, "walking in the middle, as usual." It's become a burden to others again—"

"There's some good stuff up there," Wade looked at the pedestal reluctantly. Apparently he didn't listen to a word. "Maybe it's a crystal ball that looks into the distance, or maybe it's a magic ring, I once had one. Did I tell you the story of the magic ring?" Hubble began to grumble.

Robert heard the Kander babble until both figures disappeared between the stairs.

The half-elf turned to the river wind. "You should have been here. We've seen the goddess who gave you the crystal staff, have you ever gone down?"

"I don't know," River Wind said tiredly. "I don't remember anything except the dragon ......"

But Nice kept his mouth shut. The dragon, everything came down to the dragon, and everyone's mind was encircled by the dragon's huge figure. A group of people are insignificant in comparison to the monsters that have sprung up from the legend of Candela.

Why us?" Robert thought worriedly.

Has there ever been a time when such a non-heroic team—quarrelling, complaining, squabbling, distrusting each other—fought for the salvation of humanity?" This statement does not bring much comfort.

Robert remembered what Rodelis had said, "Who chose us, and for what?"

They circled in silence and descended the steep staircase that went deeper into the side of the mountain. At first, there was no light in the path, but then it grew brighter and brighter, and Rodrith then extinguished the light of the staff. Soon Stone raised a hand, and the others stopped.

Ahead is a walkway that is only a few feet long. It leads to a wide arch with a large space behind it. The hallway was dimly lit and smelled of rancid and dark.

The group stood and listened carefully. The sound of running water seemed to come from behind the door and from under the feet, drowning out all other sounds. But Robert still felt like he heard a shrill chirp, and the sound of the door opening and closing.

But none of them lasted long, and the chirping did not appear again. Even more incomprehensible was the grinding sound of metal, mixed with a sharp scraping sound. Robert looked at Wade quizzically.

The Kanders shrugged. "I can't guess," he said. He pricked up his ears and listened carefully, "I've never heard anything like this before, except!" He stopped and shook his head. "Do you want me to take a look?" he asked, expectantly.

"Go ahead. ”

Wade quietly moved along the shadows. Once the Kandes decided to move silently, even the rats running on the carpet were noisier than him. He peered close to the door, surmising that the space in front of him must have been some kind of auditorium before.

Nian Zu Hall, Rodlis said.

Now it can be called the Hall of Ruins. A portion of the floor to the east had collapsed, and a foul-smelling white mist was rising from a large hole in the ground. Wade also noticed that there were other large holes in the floor, and occasionally some large stones lay on the ground like tombstones. Carefully stepping on the ground, the Kanders walked into the hall, where a dark corridor to the south could be seen faintly in the fog...... The north side too.

The strange grinding sound sounded coming from the south, and Wade turned and walked in that direction.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of crackling in the north again, and the floor began to shake. The Kander scurried back to the stairwell. Everyone heard the voices and stood against the wall, weapons in their hands. The snapping sound turned into a loud stomping sound.

Then ten or fifteen dwarf, little ones that don't winter in the middle of winter, strode through the shadows, and then disappeared in the fog. Then there was a sharp sound of metal grinding, and finally everything was calm.

"What the hell is that?" Calamon said. "They're not dragonmen, unless they have that kind of stocky brother. Where did they come from?"

"They came from the end of the corridor on the north side of the hall," Wade said. "There is a walkway on the north side and one on the south side. The strange grinding sound was coming from the south, the direction the guys were walking.

"What's up to the east?" Robert asked.

"Judging by the sound of running water I heard, it was about a thousand feet deep. The Kander replied. "The floor has collapsed. I don't recommend that you go in that direction. ”

Hubble sniffed hard. "I smell something...... Something familiar. But I couldn't think of what it was. ”

"I smell death," Scarlet Moon said, shivering, and cradled the crystal staff tighter.

"No, it's a more nasty smell," Hubble muttered. Then his eyes widened, and his face flushed with anger. "I got it!" he yelled. "Valley Dwarves!" he unleashed the axe behind his back.

"Those short ones who don't winter are them. Very well, there will soon be no half of the valley dwarves left, and they will be stinking corpses!"

He rushed forward. Robert, Stone, and Calamon chased him out, just in time to catch him at the entrance of the hallway.

"Be quiet!" Robert ordered the thunderous dwarf. "Wait, are you sure these guys are canyon dwarves?"

The dwarf angrily broke free from Karamon's grasp. "Of course!" he began to yell, then lowered to a loud whisper. "They locked me up for three years!"

"Is there such a thing?" asked Robert, surprised.

"That's why I'm reluctant to tell you where I've been in the last five years," said the dwarf, blushing. "But I swore revenge. I'm going to kill every dwarf in the valley that I come across!"

"Wait," Stone interjected, "but the dwarves of the valley aren't evil! at least not as evil as goblins. What's the benefit of them living here with the dragonmen?"

"Slave," Rodrith replied coldly. "These valley dwarves have apparently lived here for years, perhaps since the city was abandoned after the Cataclysm. When the dragonmen were sent here, perhaps to guard the Platinum Plate, they captured the valley dwarves and used them as slaves. ”

"They might be able to help. Robert muttered.

"The Dwarves of the Gorge!" Hubble erupted, "How can you trust those stinks-"

"No, it won't. Robert said. "Of course we won't trust them. But every enslaved creature will want to rebel, and the Valley Dwarves—like most Dwarves—are loyal only to their chiefs. As long as we put them at risk for their lives, we may be able to get their help. ”

"Hmph, I'd rather kiss the ogre's ass!" Hubble said in disgust. He threw his axe on the ground, his backpack down his shoulder, and his hands folded against the wall. "Go, go and ask your new friends to help you. I'm not going to go with you! they'll do you a favor, yes, they'll help you get headlong into the dragon's belly!"

Robert and Stone exchanged caring glances, and remembered the accident on the boat. Hubble can sometimes become unimaginably stubborn, and Robert secretly thinks that this time the dwarves will not budge.

"I'm not sure. Calamon sighed and shook his head. "It's too bad if the dwarves don't come along. Even if we get help from the dwarves of the valley, who is going to watch them?"

Surprised by Calamon's delicate thoughts, Robert continued on to the topic of warriors. "I guess...... Stone bar. ”

"Stone!" the dwarf jumped. "That knight who doesn't even know how to sneak up on anyone from behind? What you need is someone who understands these stinky guys!"

"You're right, Hubble," Robert said plaintively. "I guess then you're going to have to come with us. ”

"Yes," Hubble muttered. He grabbed his bag and hobbled around the corner. He stopped and looked back and asked, "Are you going to come along?"

Everyone forced a laugh and followed the dwarf into the ancestral hall. Walking cautiously against the wall, they avoided those loose floors. Heading south, following in the footsteps of the valley dwarves, they entered a dimly lit walkway that bent abruptly eastward after a few hundred feet.

The sound of chirping and rattling reappeared. The grinding of metal stopped. Suddenly, they heard the sound of thumping footsteps behind them.

"Dwarves of the Gorge!" shouted Flynn grinning.

"Stand back!" Robert ordered. "Prepare to catch them, we can't risk them informing the other partners!"

The crowd clung to the wall, weapons in hand ready to attack. Hubble clenched his tomahawk and looked at the wide hall with an expectant expression on his face, and they saw a group of dwarf figures running in again.

The dwarves of the valley who had taken the lead suddenly looked up and saw them. Calamon jumped in front of the short running figure, raised his hands and commanded. "Stop!" he said. The dwarves of the valley looked up at him, rounded him, and disappeared around the eastern corner. Calamon turned and looked at them in surprise.

"Stop," he said with little confidence......

A valley dwarf poked his head out from the corner, looked at Calamon, and put a chubby finger to his lips. "Shhhhh They heard the crunch of metal again.

"Guess what's going on?" asked Robert, softly.

"Are they all like this?" asked Scarlet Moon with wide eyes. "They were ragged and smelly, and they had sores all over their bodies. ”

"And their brains are about the size of ants. Hubble muttered.

The group carefully circled the corner, their hands on their weapons. A long hallway appeared in front of their eyes, and the torches on the walls smoked and shook in the air. The light reflected off the walls revealed the moisture that adhered to it. The high-ceilinged arched porch is only dark.

"The Tomb. Rodlis said.

Robert shuddered. Water droplets dripped from the ceiling onto his body, and the grinding sound of metal was getting closer. Scarlet Moon touched the half-elf's arm and pointed forward. Robert saw a door at the end of the hallway. Behind the door is a T-shaped fork in the road. The hallways are full of valley dwarves.

"I wonder why these guys are standing in a row?" Calamon said.

"This is our chance to find out," Robert said. He was about to start walking forward when the mage's cold hand grabbed him.

"Leave this to me. Rodrith hissed.

"We'd better follow you," Stone said, "to cover you, of course." ”

"Of course," Rodrith sniffed. "Good, but don't bother me. ”

Rob nodded. "Hubble, you and Crimson Moon are guarding this end of the hallway. Hubble was about to protest, but he stood beside the plainman with a frown.

"Give me a good following," ordered Rodris, as he walked down the hallway, his red robe making a noise at his ankles, and the staff of Mazzis slamming against the ground with every step. Robert and Stone followed behind the wall. A cold wind blew from the tomb.

Robert looked inside and saw a sarcophagus illuminated by torches. The sarcophagus is exquisitely carved, and the coffin is decorated with gold ornaments that no longer shine. The air in the tomb was heavy. Some of the graves appear to have been baptized by tomb robbers, and Robert glimpses a skeleton exposed.

He wondered if the undead were going to take revenge on the guy who disturbed their eternal sleep. Robert ordered himself to return to reality, and the situation in front of him was horrific enough.

Rodrith stopped at the end of the hallway. The dwarves of the valley looked at him curiously. Ignoring the man behind him, the mage did not speak, he reached into the small pouch on his belt and pulled out a few gold coins.

The eyes of the dwarves in the valley lit up, and one or two of them squeezed in front to see better. The mage held the gold high so they could see it all, and then threw it into the air...... All of a sudden, the gold coins disappeared!

The dwarves of the valley were startled, and Rodrith expertly opened his palms so that they could see that the gold was still in his hands. They let out sparse applause, and the dwarves of the valley came closer, their mouths open in surprise.

The Dwarves of the Gorge, or Egha as they are commonly called, are a group of miserable little creatures. They are the lowest creatures of dwarven society, scattered throughout Candela, living in places that are crowded, damp, and filthy, and abandoned by most people, including animals.

Like all dwarves, they have a clan concept, mostly several clans living together, each obeying the orders of their own chieftain, or obeying a particularly powerful chief. There are three tribes that inhabit the lair of the Lone Earth Dragon - the Hum Clan, the Haha Clan, and the Hehehehehe.

Valley dwarves from three tribes now surround Rodlis. They were both male and female, although it was difficult to tell them apart from their dirty appearance. Instead of a beard, the female chin grows on the cheeks. They wore tattered over-the-knee skirts. The rest of the part is exactly the same as their filthy male companions. Never caring about their filthy appearance, the dwarves of the valley are mostly quite self-satisfied.

Using Superman's trick, Rodrith made the gold coin dance on his knuckles, then he made the coin disappear before appearing in the ears of a valley dwarf looking at the mage.

There was a pause in the last move, as the dwarven's friends scrutinized his ears, and one of them even put his finger in to see if there were any other gold coins. This amusing maneuver stopped as soon as Rodrith reached into the other pocket.

He pulled out a scroll, his slender fingers unraveling it, and the mage began to chant the words on it, reading softly. "Su-tangras-moyebor, zu-akura-karibor" The dwarves of the valley watched with adoration on their faces.

After reading it, the spider-like words on the scroll began to burn, leaving only a puff of green smoke.
