Chapter 157: Escape (I)

The dragon man in the pot forced him to the side of the pot. He punched one of them to the other side, then pulled out his dagger, ready to deal with the other draconian who was drawing his sword. Calamon gave it a sword before it could draw it.

But the dagger slid through its armor and flew out of Karamon's hand. The dragonman grabbed at his face, trying to gouge out his eyeballs. Calamon struggled to grab the dragonman's arm, successfully pulling the dragonman's claws away from his face.

Two creatures with strange powers!

A human, a dragonman - began to scuffle around the pot.

The other dragon-man had just recovered from Calamon's blow, and drew his sword. It lunged at the warrior, but was halfway through it before Stone was kicked heavily in the face by Stone, who had slid down the chain. The dragonman staggered back, his sword out of his hand.

Stone lunged forward, trying to stun the monster in front of him with the hilt of his sword, but the dragonman flicked his hand and blocked the sword to the side.

"Don't step on me!" Hubble yelled from the bottom of the pot. With his head covered by his helmet, he felt himself almost knocked unconscious by Calamon's big feet. In a fit of rage, Hubble straightened his helmet and got up from the ground, causing Calamon to stumble and fall straight at the dragonman.

The dragonman dodged to the side, and the warrior crashed into the chain. The dragonman swung his sword wildly, and Calamon ducked it, slashing through the chain and creating a gap. Hubble angrily slammed his head into the dragonman's stomach, and the two of them fell together.

The pot took a hit and began to shake in the mist.

While trying to keep an eye on the movement in the pot, Robert slowly slid along the chain into the pot. "Hold on!" he shouted to Wade. He let go and fell straight into the scuffle.

Wade reluctantly obeyed Robert's order, grasping the chain with one hand and reaching into the bag with the other, and pulled out a stone, ready to throw it down and hit the enemy on the head!

The people in the pot were fighting fiercely, and the pot shook violently while sinking continuously. The other pot was full of screaming dragonmen, and they rose higher and higher.

Riverwind and a group of valley dwarves stood at the edge of the cave, barely visible. Only the sound of fighting and wailing could be heard from inside the pot where the partners jumped into. But, then another pot went up, full of dragonmen.

With their mouths open and their swords in their hands, they watched the river breeze, their long red tongues stretching and contracting. In a matter of seconds, he, Rodrith, Crimson, and fifteen valley dwarves were facing twenty angry dragonmen!

He turned, tripped over a dwarf, but quickly regained his balance and ran to the controls. He had to find a way to stop the pot. The huge gears slowly rotated, and the chain snapped into the teeth.

River Breeze looked at the gear, considering whether to grab it empty-handed. A red figure pushed him away. Rodrith watched the gears turn, estimated its speed, and quickly inserted the staff of Marzis between the gears and the floor.

The cane shook a few times in an instant, and Rodrith watched worriedly, fearing that it would snap off. But it stopped! The whole device stopped.

"River Breeze!" cried Scarlet Moon as she stood at the entrance of the cave. The Plainsman ran to the mouth of the cave, and Rodrith followed. The dwarves of the valley circumnavigate the entrance of the cave and are excited to enjoy the happiest time of their lives. Only Puff didn't stay at the entrance of the cave, and she followed behind Rodres, grabbing his robe as best she could.

"Oh my God!" he said with bated breath as the river wind looked into the mist.

Karamon threw the dragonman out of the pot who had just fought him to the death. It screamed and fell into the fog, leaving a bloody claw on the warrior's face and a sword wound on his right arm. Stone, Robert, and Hubble are still battling the dragonmen who are fighting the last of the trapped beasts.

Fists alone were clearly not enough, and Robert quickly drew his dagger and stabbed it, and the drake went limp and quickly turned to stone, jamming Robert's weapon.

Then the cauldron stopped suddenly, and everyone shook with it.

"Look! we have neighbors!" Wade shouted and jumped off the chain. Robert saw a pot full of dragonmen shaking about twenty feet away. They are fully equipped and ready to jump over and attack. The two dragonmen stood by the pot, ready to jump to the opposite side.

Calamon swung his sword at them, trying to drive the intruders away. But he didn't aim, and the violent movement caused the pot to spin around the chain. Calamon was unstable, leaning against the side of the pot. His weight caused the pot to start tilting dangerously.

He found himself staring straight down at the ground far below. Stone grabbed Calamon by the collar and pulled him back, causing the pot to shake violently again.

Robert slipped and fell to the bottom of the pot with his hands on the ground, only to realize that the petrified dragonman's corpse had turned to ashes, allowing him to retrieve his weapon. "They're coming!" Hubble shouted, pulling Robert up.

A dragonman jumped at them, claws firmly gripping the edge of the pot. The pot tilted dangerously again.

"Come here!" Robert pushed Calamon to the other side, hoping that the big man's weight would balance the pot. Stone slammed the dragonman's claws, hoping to get it to let go. The other dragonman then leaped over, and the distance was more accurate than the previous one, and it landed directly on Stone's side.

"Don't move!" Robert screamed as the warrior rushed towards the dragonman without thinking. The pot tilted even more, and the battlefield quickly jumped back to its original position.

The angle of the pot is straightened. The dragon man hanging on the edge of the pot, his fingers bubbling with green liquid, finally spread his wings and let go and floated down. Robert turned around to fight the dragonman who jumped into the pot, but stepped on Hubble and knocked the dwarf down.

The half-elf staggered towards the edge of the pot, and as the pot shook, he looked down, and through the mist, he saw the ground of the lone dragon's lair far away.

He looked back a little dazed to see Wade fighting the dragonmen. Little Candle jumped on the dragonman's back and stoned the dragonman's head. Hubble struggled to his feet from the bottom of the pot, picked up Calamon's fallen dagger, and stabbed the dragonman in the leg.

The knife stabbed deeper and deeper, and the dragonman let out a heart-rending scream. Robert knew that the dragonmen would start to fly all over, so he could only look up in despair. But when he saw River Wind and Scarlet Moon eagerly glancing down at the entrance of the cave, despair was immediately replaced by hope.

"Pull us up!" roberted wildly, and something hit him on the head. He was in so much pain that he just felt like he was falling down......"

Rodrith didn't hear Robert's shouts, he was already moving.

"Come here, my friend," said Rodrith gently. The enchanted dwarves of the valley leaned excitedly against him. "The bosses down there want to hurt me. He said softly.

The dwarves all frowned. Several of them had angry faces on their faces, and some dwarves were waving their fists at the dragonmen below. "But you can help," said Rodris, "and you can stop them." ”

The dwarf of the valley looked at the mage suspiciously. Friendship – it turns out – is also limited.

"That's all you need," said Rodlis patiently, "run over and grab the chain." He pointed to the chain that was connected to the pot that the dragonman had come up to.

The dwarf's expression lit up. That doesn't sound bad, in fact, they usually do it if they miss the pot that falls.

Rodrith waved his hand. "Go!" he said.

All the dwarves of the valley, except poof, looked at each other, and then screamed frantically and rushed to the edge of the cave, grabbing the chain with agility.

The mage ran to the gears, and Puff followed closely behind. He gripped the Fisdal staff and pulled it out with all his might. The gears shook for a moment, then began to move again, the weight of the dwarves of the valley making it spin faster and faster, and the cauldron carrying the dragonmen fell back into the fog. Several dragonmen who were already standing by the pot and were about to jump over did not expect such a situation, and they all stood unsteadily and fell.

Although their wings slowed their landing, they still screamed all the way to the ground, their roars in a strange contrast to the happy cries of the dwarves of the valley.

The river breeze leaned towards the mouth of the cave and had already grasped the cauldron that had just risen.

"Are you all right?" asked Scarlet Moon anxiously, reaching out to help Calamon out.

"Robert is wounded," Calamon said, helping the half-elf crawl out.

"It's a swollen bag, though," Robert protested weakly. He felt a large blob bulge on the back of his head. "I thought I was going to fall out of the pot!" he said, still scared, recalling what had just happened.

"We can't go down!" Stone said, climbing out of the pot, "we can't stay here either." It won't be long before the elevator is back up and running, and they'll start chasing us. We've got to go back. ”

"No! don't go!" Puff grabbed Rodris. "I know the way to find the Pounce King!" she said, grabbing him by the sleeve and pointing to the north. "The easy way, the secret way, the no boss," she said softly, touching his hand. "I'm not going to let the boss catch you, you're pretty. ”

"It looks like we don't have much of a choice, we'll have to follow her," Robert said, gasping as Crimson's crystal staff touched him. A medical force flowed through his body, and he sighed as he felt the pain and tiredness disappear. "Like you said, they've lived here for years. ”

Hubble shook his head angrily and followed Puff to the northern corridor.

"Stop! Listen carefully!" Wade called softly. They all heard the sound of a dragonman approaching.

"Dragonman!" said Stone, "we need to get out of here! ”

"I knew that," Hubble muttered with a frown. "This guy is bringing us to those lizards!"

"Wait!" Crimson Moon grabbed Robert's arm, "Look at her!"

The half-elf turned around just in time to see Puff pull something strange out of the bag on his shoulder. Standing close to the wall, she waved what she was holding and said a few words. The wall began to shake, and a few seconds later a secret passage appeared, and it was dark inside. The partners exchanged uneasy glances.

"We don't have a choice," Robert muttered. The crashing sound of the dragonmen's armor was already audible, and they kept approaching. "Rodlis, light!" he said.

The mage pronounced the incantation, and the crystal at the top of the staff lit up. He, Puff and Robert quickly dodged into the passage, and the others followed, and the door quickly closed. The mage's light showed everyone a small room with moss-covered walls. They stood silently, listening to the sound of the dragonman walking in front of them.

"They must have heard us fighting," Stone whispered. "It won't be long before they can fix the elevator, and soon a whole team of dragons will be searching for us!"

"I know the way down. Poof, he shook his hand comfortingly. "Don't worry. ”

"Little one, how did you open that door?" asked Rodrith curiously, kneeling beside Puff. "Magic," she said shyly, holding out her hand. On the dwarf's fat little hand is a dead rat with its sharp teeth showing outward. Rodrith raised an eyebrow, and Wade touched his arm lightly.

"It's not a spell, Rodrith. The Kander whispered. "It's very simple, it's a pressure plate on the ground. As she pointed to the wall, I noticed that she was about to open my mouth when she started the whole ritual.

She happens to be standing on a pressure plate as she swings. The Kanders chuckled. "She may have stumbled upon this mechanism before, and she happened to have this mouse with her. ”

Puff gave Wade a roll of his eyes. "Magic!" she said, petting the mouse lovingly. She stuffed the dead rat back into the bag and said, "Come, let's go." She led the group north. Walk through the broken, moss-covered room. Eventually, she stopped in a room full of dust and rubble. The roof of the room had collapsed, and the floor was covered in broken bricks. The dwarf of the valley pointed to the northeast corner of the room. "Go down!" she said.

Robert and Rodlis approached to check. They saw a four-foot-wide tube with one end protruding from the ground. The pipe apparently fell from above, thus crushing the roof to the northeast. Rodrith put his staff into the hole and probed.

"Come, you guys go down!" Puff anxiously tugged at Rodrith's sleeve. "The boss won't follow. ”

"But the space inside can't even swing a sword," Stone said with a frown, "I don't like it!"

Suddenly everyone shut up, they heard the squeak of the gears turning, and the chains began to rub together. Everyone looked at each other.

"I'll come first!" Wade smiled. He reached in first, and began to crawl on his hands and feet. "Are you sure I can squeeze in?" Calamon asked, looking anxiously at the entrance.

"Don't worry. Wade's voice came out. "It's covered with moss. You're going to squeeze in like a fat pig covered in oil!"

The joke didn't seem to reassure Calamon. As Puff pulled Rodrith into the tube, he was still looking at the mouth of the tube worriedly. Hubble then climbed inside, followed by Scarlet Moon, a look of disgust as her hand touched the thick moss. River Wind slid in after her.

"I want you to know - this is crazy!" Stone said in disgust.

Robert didn't answer. He patted Calamon on the back. "It's your turn," he said, the chain in his ears growing faster. Calamon shouted. Lying down with both hands and feet, the warrior climbed into the mouth of the pipe with his hands and feet. The hilt of his sword was stuck in the hole.

He stepped back awkwardly, trying to reposition his sword, trying to try again. This time his ass was so high that his entire back hit the top of the hole. Robert put his foot on Big Han's ass and pushed it forward hard.

"Ass, lower!" the half-elf commanded.

Calamon groaned and fell down like a sack of wet flour, his shield in front of him, his head squeezing in first, his armor grinding against the pipe.

The half-elf reached out and grabbed the top edge of the pipe, then put his foot in first, and began to slide into the foul-smelling moss. He looked back at Stone who had come in last.

"Reason has long since disappeared when we followed Lena out of the final home. He said.

"Definitely. The knight sighed in agreement.

Wade was indulging in the sensation of crawling through the tube, when he suddenly caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a figure under the tube. He struggled to find a place to stay and stopped.

"Rodres!" whispered the Kander, "there's something up down there!"

"What is it?" the mage asked, but the damp, foul air made him cough. He tried to hold his breath and put his staff down to see who it was.
