Chapter 2: First Dreams

Out of the southern suburbs of the cave city and further south, there is the place with the most caves in the entire cave city county, and there are countless caves of large and small depths. There are some caves where there are still dream cultivators, but they are all poor and helpless, and their realm is very low.

Bian Yao walked a long way, walked and rested. It wasn't until it was dark that he came to a cave where he and Yumekoko had lived all along. After not sleeping for ten days, he didn't know where he got the spirit and strength to dig a hole under the big tree in front of the cave. After burying the dream fruit, the sky had completely darkened.

Bian Yao sat silently in front of the cave, looking up at the twinkling stars in the night sky. He recalled a lot of things about what Yumekako had experienced with him, scene after scene, and then tears welled up in his eyes, the first time he had shed tears since he was born. Then he began to weep aloud, very sadly and very happily, and wept for a long time, until at last he fell into a groggy sleep on the stone wall at the entrance of the cave.

Everyone has a magical "original dream seed", which has been planted in the brain since birth, and no one knows when that seed will sprout and what kind of dream will grow into in the future.

Maybe it was too sad or something else, Bian Yao's tears that had been accumulated for ten years were finally all shed at once, and the seed hidden in Bian Yao's brain finally began to germinate. He has never dreamed, and he has always wanted to know what a "dream" is, and for the first time, he stepped into a dream, a mysterious space of his own!

It was pitch black, it was black that he had never seen before! Bian Yao thought he was blind, because he couldn't see the slightest light. At the same time, he found himself as if he was levitating, standing in the dark void for no reason! However, the next moment, Bian Yao suddenly felt a chaos in his mind, an illusion that the world was spinning! He couldn't breathe and was suffocated! So, he began to panic and be afraid!

"Hoo ......"

Just when Bian Yao was about to struggle, an abnormal aura rushed into his mouth and nose. Suddenly, Bian Yao's mind was clear, and the tension disappeared in an instant, replaced by greedy breathing, and the refreshing and comfortable feeling that he had never experienced before filled all parts of his body! In this way, he enjoyed the strange pleasure brought by breathing, and even forgot his situation. After a long time, as the rhythm of breathing gradually flattened, Bian Yao fell into another mysterious state. He seemed to be asleep, yes! He fell into a deep sleep again in his dreams! He entered a supreme state -- "selflessness"!

Time passes quietly, and change occurs imperceptibly.

"Hot! Every part of my body seems to be soaked, what a strange feeling!" Bian Yao's mind suddenly thought, and his consciousness gradually cleared up.

The closed eyes only opened a slit and closed again, and after repeating this several times, Bian Yao slowly raised his arm to block his eyes, avoiding the harsh sunlight.

"Why did you wake up so hot?" thought to Bian Yao, trying to move his legs, feet and body, and just wanted to turn over and sit up, but heard an unfamiliar voice sounding beside him.

"You're finally awake!" he said in a small voice, and seemed to be a little timid in his excitement.

Bian Yao turned his head and looked in the direction of the sound. A little girl with a dirty face was standing half a foot away from herself, with a thin chin and slightly yellow half-length hair scattered, looking at herself vividly, her sweaty face clearly revealing joy.

Bian Yao sat up, his eyes swept back and forth over the girl's patched clothes, and finally whispered a little embarrassed, "What are you doing here?" ā€

After listening to Bian Yao's words, the little girl's yellowed face miraculously flew a few faint flushes, but the face that was originally covered with dust had been painted with sweat at this time, so the girl's complexion and expression at this time seemed to Bian Yao except that it looked a little weird, but she didn't have any other ideas.

"I ...... I—I'm not trying to eat your stuff. The girl said with her head down.

"Then what do you want to eat from me?" Bian Yao hurriedly asked again.

"I ...... I don't want to eat. The girl quickly raised her head to look at Bian Yao, then lowered her head again, and her tone seemed to be a little embarrassed.

"Don't eat, I'm going to eat. Bian Yao frowned slightly, touched his stomach and muttered to himself.

"I still have something to eat, for you!" When the girl heard this, she immediately took out two tattered green fruits from her pocket, stepped forward and handed them to Bian Yao, with an innocent smile in her clear eyes.

"Uh~ Where did you come from?" Bian Yao asked curiously as he stared at the two fruits lying in the girl's palm.

When the girl saw that he had no intention of eating, but asked such a question, her face suddenly darkened, and she lowered her head again and said no more.

Seeing this, Bian Yao didn't ask much, but said, "You better keep it for yourself, I don't like to eat other people's things for nothing." When he said this, he had a serious expression on his face, as if in his heart, he had gone through the fruit in other people's pockets before, and it was not considered to be eating white food. After speaking, Bian Yao ignored the girl and turned to walk in one direction.

After Bian Yao walked a few steps, he heard footsteps behind him, and suddenly turned back to the girl and said, "What are you doing with me?" Because the voice was a little louder, the girl was frightened and stunned, her mouth was deflated, and she leaned her neck and did not speak.

"I'm going to find something to eat, but I'm not going to make a joke, you'd better not follow me!" Bian Yao said seriously, then turned around and continued walking.

In this way, Bian Yao walked more than a dozen steps, and really did not hear any footsteps coming after him. However, for some reason, he unconsciously slowed down his pace. After walking about thirty paces, Bian Yao suddenly stopped and turned his head to look back.

The girl crouched in place with her arms folded and her face folded, her body trembling faintly. Bian Yao's eyes blinked, his eyes revealing complexity, and finally raised his steps and walked towards the girl.

"Why don't you follow me without telling me why? I don't know you. Bian Yao stood in front of the girl, listening to her sobbing voice, and said softly.

"I'm afraid ......," the girl said softly, gradually stopping her sobbing.

Under Bian Yao's soft voice, the girl finally opened her mouth to say some things about herself.

The girl was orphaned a few years ago due to the death of her parents and was subsequently adopted by a distant aunt. However, the aunt's family was very unkind to her, and instructed the girl to do all kinds of labor, not to mention, and often beat and scolded and punished her, and would only give her a green fruit to eat every four or five days. Ten days ago, the girl took a dozen spice fruits and hid them in her pocket, and then found an opportunity to sneak out. He walked aimlessly until three days later he came to a remote wilderness on the southern outskirts of Cave City. Since there were so many caves in this place, and there were still very few people, the girl lost the impulse of the previous days, and began to be afraid. At this moment, she found Bian Yao sleeping at the door of the cave, and after stepping forward to test her breath with her hand to make sure that it was not a dead person, the girl stopped. After all, a person of his age and alive, even if he can't talk to him because he is asleep, this still makes the little girl's increasingly panicked heart get a little support and comfort. The innocent girl just wants to wait for Bian Yao to wake up and live with him, just because the girl faintly feels that the sleeping boy is also the same as herself, a helpless orphan. All the people on the Dream Immortal Continent, even a child of a few years old, knew some common knowledge about the Dream Cultivator, and the girl didn't go up to disturb him, but just waited quietly on the side, and when she was sleepy, she hid nearby and slept for a while. Originally, she thought that Bian Yao would wake up after sleeping for two or three days at most, but she thought that waiting would be seven days, but as the sun lengthened, the girl's heart gradually began to become flustered again, and she had to go forward many times every day to test whether Bian Yao still had breath. Just when the girl was about to despair, Bian Yao woke up in the afternoon under the scorching sun.

After listening to the girl's story, Bian Yao seemed to fall into a fog, and he kept touching his head, as if he was thinking about something.

"Hearing you say that, have I slept for at least seven days?" asked Bian Yao, looking at the girl with a questioning look. After receiving the girl's affirmative answer, the expression on his face became richer, and his worried and happy face did not know what he was thinking, and he was silent for a long time without speaking. The girl was very well-behaved, with curiosity in her eyes, staring at Bian Yao without saying a word.

"What day is it? I remember it was late spring before I fell asleep, so it shouldn't be so hot. Bian Yao came back to his senses and said to the girl.

"It's summer now. ā€

Bian Yao was stunned when he heard the girl's words! He actually slept for a month, so he should be regarded as a dream cultivator. But he had no impression of whether he had dreamed or what he had dreamed of. If you just sleep for a month and don't dream, it can't be considered a dream cultivation, but if you just fall asleep, a normal person will wake up after a few days of sleep at most, and only a dream cultivator who has cultivated to a certain level can stay in the dream realm for a few months or years, or even tens or hundreds of years!

A dreamer who is able to stay in the dream state for three days and three nights after falling asleep is considered to have entered the initial stage of a sleepwalker, while being able to stay in his sleep for seven days is considered to have entered the middle stage of a sleepwalker, and if he has reached or exceeded fifteen days, he has entered the late stage of a sleepwalker.

In fact, at this time, Bian Yao had suddenly entered the late stage of sleepwalkers from ordinary people, and that dark mysterious space was his dream. It's just that all the things he does about the dream cultivator are limited to hearsay, and he vaguely knows some of the simplest common sense, and Bian Yao is not clear about his own situation, and he won't really think about it. The strange phenomenon of him falling asleep from a mortal to a late-stage sleepwalker in one sleep has never happened in the Dream Immortal Continent at all. Of course, the main reason was that he was not sure whether he had a dream or not, because he had no impression. If you just sleep and can't dream, you will never become a dream cultivator!

Bian Yao thought about it repeatedly, frowning. After a while, Fang recovered and looked at the girl.

"Aren't you hungry? Eat this for you, if you don't think they're a little bad. The girl opened her hand again and handed the two fragrant fruits towards Bian Yao, this time she didn't look at Bian Yao's face, only lowered her head, as if she was afraid that she would be rejected again.

"I don't think you think you have a few more?" Bian Yao said, picking one from the girl's palm and throwing it into his mouth and chewing it.

"No, I just ate one in the morning, and now I'm not hungry, so I'll give it all to you. The girl looked up and smiled.

Bian Yao's expression froze, swallowed the fruit in his mouth, and said, "I thought you would have a lot of it, you put away the rest and keep it until you are hungry before eating." I don't know if I'll be able to get something to eat, so I'll eat you all up, and it won't be nice if I can't pay you back. ā€

"It doesn't matter! I'm hungry! You're a boy, you need to eat more to be full. The girl's face was full of anticipation and joy, as if she was bent on winning Bian Yao's favor so that he would not drive herself away.

Bian Yao looked at the dirt on the girl's face and suddenly laughed, then touched his face, raised his hand to look at it, and said, "Put it away, I'll ask you when I'm hungry, go to the river and wash my face first." ā€

The river was clear and flowed through a grove of trees, rattling loudly. Bian Yao took the little girl through the woodland to the shore, and the two of them washed their hands and faces and drank a few sips of water.

"Do you want to take a bath?" Bian Yao sat on a stone, looked at the girl's delicate and sweet little face, and suddenly asked.

"Huh? here...... I ......" The girl lowered her head, her mouth staccaed.

"I'm going to wash over there, and if you're done, wait for me for a while." Bian Yao said and wiped a handful of water stains on his face, got up and walked downstream along the shore.

About two moments later, Bian Yao hummed and walked over slowly. Seeing the girl sitting on the stone waiting for him, he couldn't help but smile "hehe".

When he got closer, he stared at the girl's slightly wet hair and reddened face, and looked at it a few times in a daze, Bian Yao suddenly twisted his head, looked around, and said: "Let's go find something to eat first, see if you can find a wild fruit tree, you don't have to worry about the place to live, there are too many places to sleep." ā€

The girl let out an "um", got up from the big rock, and silently followed behind Bian Yao. The two of them walked slowly one after the other, and they would only say a word for a long time.

The sunlight shone through the gaps between the branches and into the trees, and the two thin figures walked in the light and shadow until the sun drooped and the golden afterglow stained the earth.
