Chapter 54: A Strange Change
A faint smoke emanated from the riverbank, slowly drifting, mixed with a faint green light from nowhere, strange and inexplicable.
The dream clone jumped from the river to the shore, gently placed the body on the ground, and as the clone disappeared, Bian Yao opened his eyes.
In the boundless night, the moonlight still shines down as usual, and the wind seems to be nothing.
Bian Yao stood up and looked back, unable to see clearly across the river. The river was so quiet that the pursuers did not seem to be able to tread the water, nor did they swim into the water to chase them.
Bian Yao calmed his mind, his mind moved slightly, and the Wusha sword appeared in the palm of his hand. He walked slowly, his figure gradually disappearing into the mist of light and shadow.
Not long after he walked out, there were some strange sounds faintly in his ears, and the strange atmosphere made Bian Yao stunned.
In the faint smoke that filled the air, and the unusual glow, his heart was clung to it.
"Is there really a ghost?" Bian Yao thought secretly, and couldn't help but clench the Wusha sword in his hand, and couldn't help but look around.
Soon, Bian Yao lost his way. He wanted to turn around and run back, but he forced down the idea of not being productive, and continued to walk cautiously.
After half a pillar of incense, the eyes suddenly cleared, and the smoke dispersed.
I saw the shadows of the house under the moonlight, ranging in height and shape.
Bian Yao stopped, his eyes opened and closed, closed and opened, and finally convinced that he was not dazzled and had not seen it wrong. He lifted his footsteps and tried to get closer to a room to see it for real.
"Wow~" Suddenly, a miserable scream sounded from behind.
Bian Yao's body trembled, and he suddenly swung his sword diagonally behind him, and at the same time turned his head to look back, only to see a black wild cat standing quietly behind him, his eyes staring at him, and a red light shot out of his pupils.
After only staring at the black cat for a second, Bian Yao felt that the cold hairs on the back of his neck stood on end, and his breathing couldn't help but become heavy. The lifeless houses, the night cats with evil eyes, this place feels too evil for him!
Thinking of the end, Bian Yao turned around abruptly and ran away. He didn't think about anything, just ran wildly! Walking through the alleyways of the house, he kept turning left and right, trying to find a way out of this place.
Even if he dared to dig food on the dead in the dark, he was not afraid to walk alone through the dark graveyard. But here and now, Bian Yao is in a cold sweat.
Strange villages, dark houses.
All this seems to be a terrible dream that can never be walked out of!
Bian Yao didn't know how long he had been running and how far he had run. He slowed down until he stopped completely, gasping for breath.
"Since you broke in, where do you want to run?" The sudden eerie sound seemed to be able to penetrate into the marrow of people, which was terrifying.
Bian Yao's eyes widened, staring at the figure in front of him who appeared at some point, and swallowed his throat.
In front of him, a tall old man, dressed in a dark purple brocade robe, his long white hair was scattered, his face was blurred, and his whole body exuded an eerie aura.
"Who are you? I won't be afraid of you! I'm not afraid of ghosts!" Bian Yao pointed at the old man with his sword and shouted loudly. Judging from the slightly shaking wrists, his confidence is obviously insufficient.
"Little cub, how dare you be so presumptuous in the face of the deity! Do you think you can get out of here alive?" the old man's tone was extremely cold and full of anger.
As soon as his words fell, a figure instantly appeared in front of Bian Yao, and his hands stretched out as fast as lightning, grabbing the young man's neck and lifting him off the ground.
Bian Yao kicked his feet desperately, raised his arms with all his might, and swung his sword at the old man's waist. However, the blade of the sword slashed across his waist and abdomen, as if it were slashed in the air, to no avail.
Despair came out of Bian Yao's heart, and when he was almost suffocated, his consciousness gradually faded away. He let go of the Usha sword in his hand and let it fall to the ground.
In a trance, he felt that he was floating, his body became very light and light, and a feeling of wanting to fall asleep arose spontaneously.
"I don't want to die!" Suddenly, I don't know where I got the strength. The boy jerked up his hands, grabbed the old man's wrists and tugged hard, trying to break free from his evil palms.
Suddenly, the old man roared, threw his arm away, and the figure retreated sharply.
Bian Yao fell to the ground all of a sudden, and he fell to the ground, gasping for air quickly and greedily.
The white-haired old man snorted and looked down at his wrists. I saw that where Bian Yao was holding just now, there was only a little bit of skin and flesh still sticking. The two dry palms dangled there for a few moments, then fell to the ground, and in the blink of an eye, they turned into a puff of smoke and disappeared.
"Who are you?" the old man asked angrily at Bian Yao.
As he spoke, two more novices grew at a speed visible to the naked eye at his broken wrist, and they recovered intact as before.
Bian Yao didn't know what was going on, but he only knew that as soon as he grabbed the old man's wrist hard, he yelled and let go of himself.
He raised his eyes to look at the old man and said in a trembling voice, "I...... I'm not afraid of you!" he said, quickly picking up the Wusha sword beside him, getting up and turning his head to run wildly back and forth.
Unexpectedly, he didn't run a few steps, but in a hurry, he tripped over a stone and fell to the ground.
Maybe it was because the nerves were tense for too long, or maybe it was because the fright he was too much this night, Bian Yao actually passed out.
The white-haired old man froze in place, looking at Bian Yao, who was lying there motionless, and hesitated for a moment before he floated closer, stretching out his newborn fingers to touch the young man's body.
At this moment, a vision suddenly appeared! The old man suddenly retracted his finger.
I saw a layer of black that I didn't know for nothing, which instantly appeared on the surface of Bian Yao's body, and disappeared in the blink of an eye. Looking at Bian Yao's body again, it gradually became blurred. In a moment, he completely disappeared.
The old man squatted beside him and was stunned for a long time, and then slowly poked out his fingers and touched the place where Bian Yao disappeared, empty, without anything abnormal.
――――――
Late at night. In the city of Light Breeze, in an elegant courtyard.
Somewhere in a secret room, several fist-sized luminous stones were inlaid into the walls, illuminating the whole room brightly and thoroughly, and there were two people standing in the room.
"You bastard! How dare you do such a thing without me! If this matter is found out, do you know what the consequences will be?" an old man in civilian clothes, pointing at the man in yellow in front of him, scolded angrily.
"I don't care so much! I've been trapped in the late stage of Dream Mania for twenty years, and I don't want to go on like this forever!" shouted the man in yellow, his face flushed and he looked very excited.
"Twenty years? I was trapped in the late stage of the Dream King for forty-one years! Do you think I don't want to break through to the Dream Venerable realm? If I could, I would rather exchange the position of City Lord for it! But I would definitely not choose to use this way to improve my breakthrough! Once you embark on this path, you will not be able to turn back!" The old man in civilian clothes said in an almost roaring voice.
The old man walked back and forth indoors, trying his best to calm himself down, and it took him a long time before he stopped and said to the man in yellow, "I will find a way to solve this matter for you." But from now on, I'm going to lock you up! You can concentrate on cultivation in the secret room, and don't think about that crooked path again!"
Hearing this, the man in yellow changed his complexion, walked up to the old man, and suddenly knelt down and begged, "I want to become the king of dreams." Dad, I promise you, as soon as I break through to the Dream King realm, I will stop immediately. I feel like I'm about to break through, and devouring a few more might be pretty much the same!"
"It seems that you still don't understand! Do you think that no one in those evil dream cultivators wants to return to the normal path of cultivation? They want to! They want to! But it doesn't work, because they can't control themselves! Once they fall into it, it's almost impossible to do it by relying on their own self-control!" The old man stared at the man in yellow, suddenly sighed, and said, "You go in by yourself, or let me send you in?"
The man in yellow knelt there and was stunned for a moment, then got up and walked to the corner without saying a word, stretched out his hand and slapped the wall, and with a rumbling sound, a secret door appeared on the snow-white wall.
The old man in civilian clothes watched the man in yellow enter the secret door, sighed helplessly again, and finally shook his head and walked out of the dark room with a wave of his sleeves.
