Chapter 57: A Birthday Present
In the safe house restaurant, the soldiers are having dinner.
Roman finished his dinner in three or two times, touched his stomach, sighed in his heart, half a palm-sized bread and a plate of potato soup ate it, and there was no reaction in his stomach at all, it was too little!
Got up and walked out of the dining room, Roman carefully walked up a dim staircase with the Colonel's food, the Colonel's door was not closed, the dim candlelight was reflected in the door, Roman carefully walked into the door with a plate, and the Colonel sat in the office chair in a daze, as if he did not notice his orderly.
Roman was worried, and gently put the dinner plate in front of the colonel, looking at the colonel's still sluggish expression, Roman called softly: "Sir, your dinner!"
When the colonel heard the call of the orderly, his sluggish expression finally moved, and he looked down at the food in front of him, only to see a palm-sized rye bread in the rectangular stainless steel dinner plate, next to a stainless steel soup spoon, and in the middle of the plate was a ceramic soup plate, which was filled with a muddy white soup made of unknown ingredients.
The colonel picked up the soup spoon, gently scooped a spoonful and sent it to his mouth, the soup was permeated in his mouth, and there was only a faint salty taste on the tip of his tongue, the colonel frowned, and seemed not very satisfied, but he seemed to think of something in his heart, and swallowed it anyway.
Spoonful by spoonful slowly drank the soup, the slow movement seemed to be tasting the delicacies, but no matter how slow it was, there was a time to finish, and soon the little soup had bottomed out, the colonel picked up the plate and poured the rest of the soup into his mouth, when the last drop fell into his mouth, the colonel reluctantly put down the plate, glanced at the rye bread on the side, the colonel did not move.
"Roman, how many years have you been with me?"
Roman watched the colonel's movements, his heart was sour, and suddenly he heard the colonel's voice, although he didn't understand why the colonel asked this question, but he still hurriedly returned: "Three years! sir!"
"Little Anna must be six years old now, right?" the Colonel seemed to sink into memory.
When Roman heard the Colonel's words, he knew that the Colonel was missing his children and wife again, and after the outbreak of the demonic disaster, he lost contact with his wife.
Roman looked at the colonel's face and carefully returned: "Yes, sir!"
After being silent for a while, Colonel Boris suddenly picked up the rye bread in front of him and stuffed it into the orderly's hand: "Take it, bring it back to Little Anna, today should be her birthday! Right? Take this as a gift from my uncle! Say happy birthday to Little Anna for me!"
Roman was taken aback by his superior's movements, and hurriedly refused: "Sir, this ...... This is your dinner! I ......."
"Take it!" Colonel Boris shouted.
"Thank you, thank you, sir!" Roman looked at the bread in his hand, and suddenly felt a sadness in his heart, not knowing whether it was for the chief or his little angel.
"Go back to the boy to-day!, you don't have to come!Go, young man!" said Colonel Boris, waving his orderly.
Roman gave a solemn military salute before turning away.
Roman hurried towards his house, which was two blocks away from his current headquarters, and that one was allocated to the families of the soldiers of the army, and because of the large number of people, almost every room was occupied by a family.
Roman was assigned to a two-bedroom house, with a dozen or so members of three families crammed into it, but fortunately it was only used as a sleeping place, barely able to move.
Walking into the house, the family in the living room was silently eating the dinner brought back by their relatives, and each person was only two or three bites in size, which was too little. This is a big family of eight people, although they can only squeeze the floor, but for them they are extremely lucky, after all, their families are safe and sound.
Greeting each other, Roman came to the door of his room and was about to knock, but the door had already opened from the inside, and it was his wife Larisa who heard the sound and opened the door.
"Daddy!" a thin little girl screamed and lunged at Roman.
Roman looked at his lovely daughter, the heaviness in his heart was suddenly thrown aside, a happy smile appeared on his face, and he picked up the little angel and kissed her face. The little girl who was tickled by her father's beard suddenly let out a giggle and complained to her mother that her father's beard was too prickly.
Roman hugged his smiling wife and kissed her forehead, feeling a sense of peace in his heart.
"Baby, Daddy is tired from the day, come down and let Daddy rest!" Larisa hugged her daughter, and the little girl obediently quieted down.
Closing the door, Roman took the food out of his arms and handed it to his wife, looking at the food that was twice as much as usual, Larissa looked at Roman suspiciously.
"It's the Colonel's birthday present to Anna!" Roman sighed as he looked at his daughter, who was staring straight at the bread.
Larisa was immediately relieved, picked up the bread and broke it in half and handed it to her husband, Roman shook his head: "Give it to Anna!
Larisa couldn't help touching her daughter's little head, feeling pity in her heart, put the bread in her daughter's little hand and said, "Eat!
Little Anna looked at the large piece of bread in her hand, couldn't help but swallow her saliva, held the bread in front of Roman, and whispered to her father: "Daddy eat!"
Roman's nose was pantothenic, and he touched his well-behaved daughter's head and said, "Baby, you can eat it, Dad has already eaten it!"
Little Anna began to eat slowly.
Larisa looked at her husband's tired face and hurriedly pulled her husband to the bedside and sat down.
"Roman, I heard that there is a warrior today?" Larissa asked her husband curiously, and when she heard the news, Larissa's heart was excited, could it be a messenger sent by God?
When Roman heard his wife's words, his mind flashed with the heroic posture of the silver-white warrior fighting bravely to kill the enemy, and he couldn't help but marvel again in his heart!
"Well, if it weren't for this warrior, our defensive wall would have been crushed by that beast today, and the devils would have rushed in, and we would have died!"
Hearing her husband's words, Larissa's face turned pale, her body stiffened, and she remembered the figure of the murderous demon eating people.
"Daddy, is that an angel, is he amazing?" asked little Anna curiously to her father.
"Yes, that's a very powerful angel, and he'll keep us away from evil!" said Roman, looking lovingly at his daughter.
"Where did the angel go, did he go back to God?"
Hearing his daughter's words, Roman fell silent for a moment, and a thought suddenly flashed in his heart, it would be great if that warrior could come and defend the city!
