At dawn, Alleyne met Rogge, a freelancer, at the gates of Chanda City.
Just like the first time I saw him, he was still wearing the same military uniform, but the difference was that there was a little more friendliness and praise in his eyes.
Alleyne hung the charge repeater by his horse, so he could have it at his fingertips. Seven men, Mocha, Wiggins, Manid, Yoda, Jager, Stunger, and Ryan, followed him.
Behind them were the first fifty mercenaries that Leyne had recruited from the city of Ε½ivakor Ze, and more than a hundred cavalry newly drawn from the ranks of the bounty hunters.
With this, Alleyne felt that his strength had grown a lot, and Alleyne even fantasized about pulling Nabal over and beating him up to see if he dared to come back to the east bank of the Yu River.
He must have thought so when he saw me coming with my family in tow, and once he jokingly called me the head of the family. Alleyne thought to himself. He saw a faint smile on the other man's face.
But this was obviously pretended, because Rog then gave the other party a bear hug, and the cold armor made Alleyne extremely uncomfortable, and sadly Alleyne didn't let go no matter how hard Alleyne tried.
Alleyne shouted in his heart: Freelancer Rogge, I remember you!
It was not easy to break free, and the other party laughed and slapped him on the shoulder: "Brother, you are finally here! Calculate the time, we haven't seen each other for several months!"
Alleyne gave him a blank look: "Who is your brother!"
Rogge was not discouraged at all, and still said with a dead face: "Why aren't they brothers? They all licked the blood on the knife edge together, and harvested the heads together, are they not brothers? This is a friend of life and death! You have forgotten me!"
"This guy's attitude towards me has changed so quickly. Aren frowned, shook his head, and muttered. The voice was very low, and the other party didn't hear anything clearly.
"Didn't you bring him, good lad Karadus?" Rog on horseback turned, his piercing gaze scanning behind Aren.
Alleyne couldn't help frowning: "That kid from Karadus, he doesn't belong to me! Since that time he went out with you, Instructor Kai was so distressed that he never let him out. β
Rogge sighed with some regret: "Alas, Kai that old man is also true, warriors are always bathed in blood, what's the use of only defeating others in the arena?"
Alleyne shouted angrily in his heart: How do I know! I'm not Instructor Kai! Who knows what he thinks, so a brave warrior won't let him be useful!
Rogge sighed again: "It's been so long since the last time we fought side by side, I didn't expect you to grow faster than I imagined, it's really terrifying." It seems that it won't be long before your name will be in the Chanda army. β
Alleyne snorted coldly: "Who wants to join your Chanda army? I just want to help you in the face of Count Arassis, otherwise I won't come, you think I'm stupid, going to fight the Pirate King?
Rogge smiled disapprovingly: "Pirate King Nabal, is he, dare to fight against our Zeda, fight against the Freelancers, is he the one who is tired! Do you think I, the Freelancer Rogge, have a false name? Okay, I'll show you my real ability today!"
Alleyne glanced at him, muttering to himself: this guy is still so self-righteous, and he really hasn't changed at all.
Aroused, Rogge became serious for the first time, and he organized a team of 1,000 people and sent more than a dozen teams of scouts to conduct a comprehensive search and investigation in the vicinity of Sagoth and Fenrad, so as to keep abreast of the enemy's movements.
After the departure of the first group of scouts, in less than half an hour, Rogge sent a second group, this time with a wider search area and more people.
Mo Cha, who has excellent scouting experience, is one of the first scouts to be sent out. Alleyne didn't even know how the freelancers learned about his men's Scouting abilities.
Rog himself was at the head of the group, carefully leading his troops in the direction of the town of Fenrad.
"I need loyal warriors to defeat powerful enemies. These were the last words of Freelancer Rogge to him.
Alleyne didn't tell the freelancers. Mercenaries are never loyal, and mercenary lives are precious and despicable.
There is no praise from a poet, no singing from a musician, not even a man's heart.
Hold the blade in your hand and fight for yourself, and have blood in your heart and flow for yourself.
The mercenaries adhered to this creed, pledging their lives on the patchwork continent of Dinar.
Alleyne told himself again in his heart. Cherish what is alive and forget all that is gone.
The blade of the black iron axe rubbed against Aren's armor, and the sword behind his back slammed into the scales of the armor with each movement.
The mercenaries walked in the darkness of the night, dressed in black to meet the washing of the night sky, and the cold temperature of the metal gave them courage.
In the night, the "cod" and "bread" on the banner teased the stomachs of many people, and Ellen took out his wine bag and drank it all.
It was their flag, a black emblem with a straight-edged military knife and a staggered long-handled broadsword with cod and bread hanging from the tips.
I am a mercenary, my name is Ellenn, I fight for justice and I fight for bread. He added another sentence silently in his heart.
The team set up camp, and Alleyne lay in his tent, tying a steel choke to his throat. Close your eyes and the world is still black.
Alleyne remembered that a veteran soldier had said to him that in the dark of the night, the most insidious and clever assassins loved to slit the throats of the sleeping with their short knives.
At this moment, Jamila appeared in front of him with several clean clothes. "Here," she said, handing over the clothes in her hand, "your clothes are washed." β
"Thank you!" said two words habitually, and reached for the folded laundry. In front of the ladies, he was always able to maintain a gentlemanly demeanor.
Jamila regarded Alleyne as her savior, and thanks to this, his clothes were kept neat and tidy in the army.
But it does not rule out that this cute and lively beautiful princess is in love with the handsome young mercenary in front of her, and the identity of the young mercenary has changed.
"I guess I'm thanking you," Jamila's rosy lips looked like two dewy petals, and there was a faint smile at the corners of her slightly concave mouth. "I've decided. I-"
Without waiting for the other party to finish speaking, Alleyne couldn't help but ask with some curiosity, "What decision?"
If there's one thing wrong with the easy-going and likable Aren, it's one of them, Aren has a strong curiosity about everything and can't wait to find out.
"I'm going to be the best archer on the team," Jamila swore assuringly, "and I'll be able to save you in time for you to be in danger." β
"I'm sure there will come a day. Alleyne's mouth opened a little. The upper lip hangs up, and there is a smile and a tiredness.
"Alright, I'm going to get busy. Jamila smiled and turned away.
Alleyne looked at Jamila's departing figure and thought to himself: cherish everything that is alive and forget everything that has passed.
