Chapter 3 Antique Street

Lin Yi drove to Chinatown.

Not far from Chinatown is Swan Park, and on the side of the park is Hester Street, where every Saturday and Sunday there is a small market for handicrafts and antiques, and today Kan Linyi came to this place.

There were twenty or thirty small handicraft shops on both sides of Hester Street, and when the market was held on weekends, there were many small vendors who came to participate in the market, and they were selling everything.

There are those who sell their own handicrafts, there are those who sell second-hand goods, and of course, most of them buy antiques, so the nature of this place is very similar to those small antique markets in China.

So every weekend, it will be full of people, which is a beautiful scenery near Manhattan's Chinatown.

In the past, Lin Yi would often come to Chinatown to get off the hotel and go to the market, but when he came to the market on Hester Street, he came very rarely, and he used to think about picking up the leaks, but he didn't buy it, because he couldn't understand the things here, although Lin Yi knew a lot about history and antiques, but he still didn't do it.

And now Lin Yi has once again come to this American antique market.

There is also a huge collection of people in the United States, many people also like antiques, and there are countless antique stores in the Soho district of Manhattan, but although Lin Yi knows about that place, he can't afford to go.

First, he felt that there were not many leaks to pick up there, after all, where to open antique shops, but they were all connoisseurs, and there was little hope of picking up leaks from connoisseurs.

The second reason is that there are basically no bargains anywhere, which also eliminates the possibility of you going to other people's antique stores to pick up leaks, you must know that Manhattan is the essence of New York.

And the antique stores in SOHO are generally aimed at the high-ranking banker group on Wall Street, and the big guys never take money seriously, and they have always had the habit of buying only the most expensive things.

In those antique stores that are dedicated to them, there are very few casual items that cost less than $10,000.

That kind of antique shop is obviously not a suitable place for Lin Yi to test his eyesight, even if he sees something right, the price of that thing, he may not be able to afford it.

Thirdly, Lin Yi only knows more about Chinese antiques, but not about foreign countries, and he doesn't know much about valuation. He doesn't have a lot of money on him, so he can only come to these small places to play this.

There are a lot of people in the market, bustling, people come and go, black, yellow, white people and so on are readily available, it seems to be very lively.

Although it's only March now, New York has already entered the rhythm of summer, at a glance, except for those wearing coats and padded jackets, now some people have begun to wear skirts and stockings, and because it is really Manhattan, the quality of these girls does not have to worry at all, black, gold, red, hot and tall, all of them look eye-catching, and they smell of perfume on women's bodies every time they walk.

Hester Street is about two miles long, and on the left side of the road is a row of dozens of storefronts selling handicrafts and some second-hand goods.

On the other side, there is the Swan Park, which is lined with trees, and the stalls that buy antiques are usually placed here, and there are also some stalls selling snacks in the middle.

The stalls here are not the same as those roadside stalls in the open air in China, the layout is more formal and tidy, the stall owner will set up a decent small shed, each shed is about ten square meters, and in the shed will be very formal on the simple containers, and shelves, the goods for sale will be classified and placed neatly.

New Yorkers who come here are all players who like handicrafts and antiques, and some are tourists who come purely with the excitement of watching, so this market has never lacked popularity.

Next to the antique stalls, there are also some stalls selling drinks and snacks, and the front of each stall will soon be crowded with people, and the tempting aroma of food will spread in the market, accompanied by the bustling crowd, the streets that have already begun to be lively will soon become more hot.

Lin Yixing rushed in, but soon lost his original interest, because he found that there was not much difference between this place and what he remembered, and those stalls were still those things that he couldn't understand.

Of course, this is mainly related to Americans' perception of antiques, because the United States has a short time since the founding of the country, its own historical accumulation is not deep, so the perception of antiques is very different from that of Chinese people.

In their opinion, some used second-hand goods, as long as they have a history of thirty or fifty years, can be regarded as antiques, and because the country has not experienced the feudal period, they don't care whether those things have been used by the royal family or are from ordinary people's homes.

Even some handicrafts with exquisite workmanship, as long as they are old enough, can be attributed to the category of antiques.

In fact, many of the antique stalls on Hester Street sell handicrafts, some sell wood carvings, some sell second-hand furniture, and some sell handmade necklaces or bracelets made on site.

What's more, there are actually people selling celebrity cards, and some strangely shaped glass bottles, or Coke bottle caps, in short, there are all kinds of strange things.

There are also some silverware sellers, but those silverware, in Lin Yi's eyes, are more like modern imitations no matter how you look at them.

There are also some black buddies from Africa, who don't know if they are from Africa, selling some ivory carvings that look like they are made of animal teeth or bones, or bone necklaces, bracelets and the like.

Lin Yi took a closer look at it, the carving of that thing was very rough, and the production age was not very certain, but it was such a thing, but Lao Mei liked it very much.

From time to time, there are a few big girls, or middle-aged aunts who drag their families and those black buddies where to bargain.

But soon he adjusted his mood, after all, he only found it in a place like this, and even in China, it is impossible for every Yang thing to be true.

Looking at the group of foreigners, surrounding the stalls, bargaining happily, Lin Yi really couldn't understand, many of those things were carvings from Africa or Latin America, and the transfer was rough, even if it was a few years, many of them were products after the Qianlong year.

It's really hard to see what aesthetic value is in it, but those old foreigners like it very much, and they go around those stalls one by one.

To be honest, those things, compared with our domestic porcelain and jade, are really too far behind, which really makes Lin Yi even more strange about the aesthetic taste of these foreigners.
