On the city wall, Candida, the captain of the garrison, pointed to the cavalry on the main road to the southeast and said, "Lord Count, they are coming!"

The road winds out from behind the holy mountain and connects the Chanda City Gate due south, and in the sunset, this cavalry team of 300 people crawls like a winding golden centipede.

The flying banners could faintly recognize the black bear on the yellow background, and the dust and smoke billowed behind the cavalry team, and it seemed that it would not be long before they reached the city.

The soldiers at the head of Chanda City were already in full array. Hundreds of archers in thick leather armor stood at the forefront of the city, and behind them were more guards with spears and iron swords.

Looking at the Vigian cavalry team slowly approaching outside the city, Kai, the instructor of the garrison, said flatly: "It looks like it is imposing." โ€

"Just looking!" Brune, who had appeared at the head of the city at some point, replied in a contemptuous tone.

Count Arassis looked at Brunn, who always appeared beside him with a rebellious and confident look, and asked, "Have you safely sent Duke Goering's son out of the territory of Chanda?"

Brune nodded. "Yes, sir. โ€

Harrick, the sheriff, advised Count Arassis: "The wording of King Yarogerk's circular does not have much kindness, and we need to be very careful!"

"At least they know how to tell you beforehand," said Aracis, holding the battlements in his hand, in a relaxed tone, but his expression remained solemn, and his long pale beard added a bit of majesty to him. "Three hundred men are not enough to take Zenda, let them come, let us see how Taishaboya differs from the other king's messengers. โ€

Lord Chanda looked at the scarring city guards at the head of the city, and reached out to pat Candida on the shoulder. "Let the lads not be so nervous and just be on guard. โ€

The Count of Aracis turned to his second son, Krees, and said, "You wait here to receive Taishaboye, don't be lazy in etiquette, but don't show weakness either." โ€

"I know how to do it. Krees smiled slightly.

Alassis patted him on the shoulder and nodded in satisfaction. Berners was his proudest son, with courage and brains, and he shared a lot of things for him when he was there, but he had not returned from his voyage a few months ago, and now Krees was maturing and as good as his brother.

"Come, Maester Cordion," Count Arassis turned and walked down the wall. "Let us await the arrival of the messenger at the castle. โ€

Count Arassis and Lady Cordion departed for the steps at the head of the city, escorted by the captain of the guard, the Knight of Bolton.

When Tessapoe entered the castle chamber, Count Arassis was already seated on the lord's high chair, with Maester Cordion and Steward Ammon on his left, and his youngest son Heim on his right.

On the left side of the hall stood the sheriff Harrick, the captain of the garrison, Candida, the instructor of the garrison, Kai, and the captain of the Earl's guard, the Knight of Bolton, and on the right were some free knights led by Brune, as well as the civilians of Chanda.

Tessa glanced over and saw that among the civilians were merchants in robes, gladiators in fighting leather vests, and even peasants with their burdens at their feet.

On the walls to the left and right of the hall hung four freelancer shields, and on the wall behind the lord's seat hung a tapestry of the Zenda banner.

"Father," Krees strode down the hall and bowed to Aracis. "I have the honour to introduce you to King Vegia's envoy, Taisha Boye!"

Count Arassis stood up with a smile on his face, and raised his hands to make a welcome gesture to Tessapouye. "Welcome!

Tessa stepped forward, followed by four Virgian Defenders. Tessa looked at Lord Chanda with a blank expression, and Count Arassis also looked at Tessa quietly, and he could see the arrogance and anger buried in Tessa's eyes.

Suddenly, Tessa smiled warmly and bowed: "Thank you for your hospitality, Lord Earl, King Yarogark has entrusted me with my sincerest greetings!"

Tessa looked sideways at the freelancers and civilians again. "I've heard that Chanda is a city of freedom, but I didn't expect it to be so free, and as far as I know, freeriders in other countries have no right to participate in politics, let alone civilians. This visit to the Earl is for state affairs, and I am not used to the presence of idle people, so do you ask them to avoid it?"

Count Arassis smiled and said, "Taishaboye has said that this is Zenda, a city of freedom, and the people here have the right to observe political affairs, and I have no right to ask my people to leave, and I regret that I cannot meet Taishapoye's request." โ€

"The law of Zenda is known throughout the continent of Calradia," said Tessapoye, who took two more steps forward and spread his hands. "Everybody knows, of course we comply. There are a lot of things we have to talk about this time, such as the issue of the fleet, the division of the fishing grounds, the dispute over Fort Ismolola, and so on, and I am grateful for that...... It's such a grand welcome ceremony, but it took us nearly a month to get here from Zhivadin, and we are really tired, I think we have time to study these issues, can we rest for another day?"

"Of course," Count Arassis nodded in agreement. "Steward Ammon has prepared a room for the adults, and someone will inform them to attend the dinner later. โ€

After the meeting, Count Arassis returned to the Count's private drawing-room, along with the Old Bachelor, Harrick, Krees, and Little Heim.

Count Arassis poured a glass of golden wine from Aaron, took a sip, leaned back in his chair and asked, "What do you think of this Taisha Boye?"

"He ......" Krees touched his chin, he always wanted to touch his beard like his brother did when he thought, but at the age of seventeen he had not yet grown a beard that he could touch. "I thought this man was dangerous, he wasn't happy with our reception of him, but he didn't show it, but he sometimes showed an angry cheetah-like look. โ€

"The look is scary, but it doesn't hurt," said Maester Cordion. "As long as we treat each other politely and don't give them a grip, no matter how angry he is, it's only his own business. King Yarogelk's letter focused on looking for the Ferres knight, but Tessapeye said a lot of other questions, and did not mention anything about this person, which is very strange! Tessapeye's family has been strong for more than ten years, and has been suppressed by Ralchapoye before, and since his father Dorupoye took charge of the family, it has slowly improved, and Doropoye is known to everyone that he is not a good character, and his son must have inherited a lot of his 'advantages'. โ€

"He's a sinister and cunning guy," Harrick said. "I was told by a man who served under him that he had an elder brother and four cousins who succeeded him in succession, and that all five of them died by accident from the time Tessa was thirteen years old until he was nineteen years old when he received titles and fiefs, and it was said that he did all this good thing, but no one has any proof. โ€

"Father," said the seven-year-old Heim, who didn't quite understand what the men were saying, but wanted to express his thoughts. "Why is this visit so brief? Isn't he the king's messenger?"

"Because he's going to talk about something unspeakable," said Maester Cordion. "Maybe after a while, maybe after dinner, he'll come to your father to talk. โ€

Count Aracis gently stroked Haim's head, smiled slightly, and said, "This is all a trick of the sorcerer. โ€
