Chapter 210: Little Guy
When Ciri first found the Tree of the Dead, the little thing that hatched from Tree X was red and burned with flames all over its body, as if it were composed entirely of flames. Its main body is only the size of a finger, with frontal feathers extending backwards on the top of its head, and large pointed and thin eyes and wings, but many of the feathers have not yet grown, and now they are only some filamentous wings, which makes it look very cute overall.
The most striking thing is the two slender tail feathers on its tail, which are longer than the entire body, and there are two eye-like structures at the end that shine brightly. Ciri hears about the legend of this creature, which is the phoenix --- the fire beast.
Legend has it that the phoenix was born at the beginning of heaven and earth, and is the true ruler of the flames, whose authority even surpasses that of Netheril, the first god of magic, the co-owner of the elements. The phoenix is an undead beast that burns its body at the end of its life, leaving behind a phoenix egg. After absorbing enough fire elementals, a new phoenix will emerge from it.
Ciri kept the egg in the base of the Nien plane due to the inconvenience of bringing it into the main plane, but he would check to see if the egg had changed from time to time. A few months before the phoenix hatched, cracks appeared in the eggs, and flames that had not been extinguished erupted from the cracks. Ciri waited for months for the phoenix to be born, and in an instant the entire eggshell shattered into flames, and the little magical creature returned to this world.
The first thing the little phoenix saw was Ciri, who had been staring at it, and the little one flew up to his shoulder in the blink of an eye, and then rubbed Ciri's face affectionately with the soft feathers on his body. This move startled Ciri, knowing that the little guy had a flame burning all the time, and he was really afraid that he would be accidentally burned and maimed by the little guy. The phoenix is a divine beast no matter how small it is, and if you treat the flames on its body as ordinary flames, it will definitely die ugly.
Fortunately, the little one lived up to the name of the Flame Master, and Ciri only felt the warmth and softness of its feathers, not the slightest burning of the flames. Ciri was wearing the Star Flower Robe that day, and after the phoenix landed on his shoulder and touched the robe, the whole robe suddenly burst into flames, and then the flames disappeared again, so fast that Ciri didn't have time to be surprised. He didn't know what was going on, but his instincts told him that this would be good for the Star Flower Robe and not bad.
And that's not all. After the Book of Divine Charisms was completed and mass-released, Ciri felt a powerful, twisted force surround him. It was as if it was a metamorphosed spiritual power that had always wanted to be combined with his sanity. In the beginning, this power only surrounded him, and it did not disperse but had no effect. However, as this power gathered more and more for unknown reasons, it began to exhibit all kinds of anomalies.
The traveling scholars of the Central Library initially revered Ciri only because of his book of charisma, but as that power grew, all those who lived around him gradually turned respect into a cult. As a result, Ciri had to close her doors and minimize contact with people. Because he later found that any thought he had would affect the people around him, and even many thoughts had begun to interfere with reality through that force.
For example, if Ciri wants to drink something, no matter what comes to his mind, there will be a cup of that drink directly in front of him. When they finish drinking, they disappear again. Sometimes Ciri didn't even notice it when he used it, and as he used it more often, it began to change some of Ciri's own thoughts.
This power was the power of faith, which he didn't know much about, but he knew that it would completely transform one person into another. Ciri avoids faith, but he doesn't know how to exorcise this power, but fortunately, at this time, the little phoenix is born.
The moment the little guy stood on Ciri's shoulder, not only did the flames of the Star Flower Robe skyrocket, but a large area around him burned with firelight. Unlike the fleeting flames of the robes, the bits of flames that burned in the air around them burned for days, and no matter how Ciri moved, they would move with them.
Ciri stayed in the base for several days until the flames were completely burned out before returning to the main plane, St. Moss. In the past few days, he could feel that the mysterious power of the original suspected belief had been weakening, until finally less than a tenth or so of the original was still around him, but these remaining parts no longer had any effect on Ciri, they were just unconsciously levitating around Ciri.
The little one is not suitable to bring into civilized society because it is too conspicuous. Ciri hasn't done anything else these days, and has been communicating with this little phoenix. The phoenix is worthy of being a mythical beast, very smart, and even born smart enough to pretend to be stupid. Ciri talks to him about other things, and the little one listens to it with relish. Anyway, it clearly knows what it means.
As soon as Ciri and the little guy mention that he should stay here, the little guy looks like a stupid bird who doesn't understand anything, which makes Ciri feel angry and funny. Legend has it that all the places where the flames burn are the territory of the Phoenix, and Ciri has no doubt that even if he doesn't leave with the little one, the other party will be able to appear in front of him on his own. Only by convincing the little guy can this be prevented. So in the past few days, Ciri has not done anything else, and has been reasoning with the little guy who is looking around, trying to persuade the other party.
In the end, the little guy should have been really annoyed by what Ciri said, and he didn't pretend to be stupid anymore, and nodded and promised to stay in the temporary base and not run around. Only then did Ciri dare to leave the little phoenix in the base and return to the Port West Central Library by himself. Even so, when he returned, he was so nervous that he looked around, for fear that the little one would suddenly appear out of nowhere.
Little Phoenix kept the agreement with Ciri and didn't come to him directly, which made Ciri very relieved and satisfied, and his words were obviously not wasted in the past few days. It's not good that when he returned to the Nien Plane Base, he knew that his idea was still too simple.
No young creature is at ease, not even the phoenix. And because of its power as a divine beast, once it is restless, it will be more fierce and the ending will be more terrifying.
Ciri returns to the makeshift base to find that most of the base has been destroyed. He immediately thought that the base had been discovered by the church, so he immediately took out the [fortress] and adjusted it to a combat state, preparing for the battle.
But when he saw the trees in the woods in the distance that had been burned to piles of ashes, he remembered that there was a powerful little guy in the "family". It's clear that these are all "good things" that guy did. r
