Chapter 237: Spreading and Believers
Due to the lack of timely discovery, "Atheism" began to spread to the normal world after it spread rapidly in the underground mage world. X
The Book of Divine Grace laid a solid foundation for the spread of Atheism, and there are many vague or even unspoken parts of the Book of Divine Grace, especially those related to the Nether Empire, which are of most interest to most people.
This section is well documented and commented on in Atheism, and almost everyone who has read the Book of Divine Grace cannot resist the temptation of Atheism. And once you read Atheism, you will have an understanding of the true nature of the world, and it will be difficult to believe the lies of God and the Church.
As time passed, Atheism slowly spread outward from the underground mage world. First, many nobles and merchants in the New World could not resist the temptation to obtain this special book in the form of a "mystery book" from those underground merchants, and then this book spread from the hands of the merchant aristocracy to other classes, making it difficult for all churches to proselytize in the New World.
Then, because the "mystery book" form was too secretive, Atheism began to spread within many ecclesiastical dioceses. When the Church took this book seriously, it was already widely circulated among many grassroots people.
The average poor person may have never read this book, but they can learn about it from many sources. And once ordinary people also understand the nature of the gods, it will have a huge impact on the civilized gods and churches.
Although the "mystery book" form was secretive, in the end "Atheism" was exposed to the eyes of the church. The church did not pay much attention to this book at first, firstly, because the "mystery book" format was so secretive that many churches thought that it did not spread widely and that most people thought it was just hearsay. The church has seen a lot of anti-god rhetoric from the underground world, but in the end, it is only a momentary heat, and it will soon be forgotten by everyone.
Second, because the "riddle book" is so difficult to investigate, even if it is fanfare, it is very likely that nothing will be found, and no one in the church likes to do such a thankless thing. This matter has always been handled by grasping a few examples of dissemination and warning and deterrence to ordinary people.
But soon the Church found that things were not so simple, and instead of being weakened by the intimidation of the Holy See, the spread of Atheism became more and more turbulent, taking on an unstoppable state of affairs, and this kind of thing began to spread within the Holy See.
Believers in gods are generally divided into five levels according to their devotion to a certain god, namely pan-believers, shallow believers, true believers, fanatical believers and saints. In addition to this, there are two other levels, which are the unbelievers and the infidels.
Heretics are in fact enemies of the gods, such as mages and many other groups that believe in non-true gods. Once exposed, such people can only live in the underground world, and even those associated with them can be implicated.
Unbelievers are those who have not been exposed to the beliefs of the gods, generally the natives of the New World. They do not oppose the gods and the Church like the pagans, but they do not actively participate in them. Once the general unbeliever comes into contact with the church, it will not be long before he enters another stage --- pan-believers.
Pan-believers refer to those who do not really believe in gods, and this kind of people often talk about multiple gods, and they do not offend anyone. This is the case with many ordinary people, and these people are also the biggest target of competition among churches, and each church wants to attract more pan-believers into the ranks of shallow believers.
But this is not easy, faith is a person's inner activity, and no one can know what the heart is like. Pan-believers often pretend to be shallow believers, and shallow believers are also easily affected by various things to return to pan-believers, and it is normal for the two to switch between the two. The task of the clergy is to convert the pan-believers into the shallow believers as much as possible, and at the same time prevent the shallow believers from returning to the state of pan-believers, and to deepen the devotion of the shallow believers little by little.
Above the pan-believers are true and upright believers, and the first stage is in a state of unstable faith, which is called shallow believers. Shallow believers have recognized the teachings of the gods and have begun to demand themselves according to the teachings, and they already have a place for the gods in their hearts. However, in many cases, shallow believers do not put gods first, so they sometimes abandon their belief in gods at the beginning and return to the ranks of pan-believers or even non-believers.
The church has jurisdiction over the diocese of the majority of pan-believers and shallow believers, and even within the jurisdiction of the church cannot prevent people from believing in other true gods, which is a covenant between the gods.
As long as there are no major accidents in the area under the jurisdiction of the church, shallow believers will slowly be instilled with more faith ideas by the clergy, so as to gradually transform from a shallow believer to a true believer.
True believers are a necessary standard for clergy, and strictly speaking, any believer who does not reach the level of true believers cannot become a clergyman. True believers will always be strict with their doctrines, and they have come to regard the gods as more important than their parents, relatives, friends, possessions, wives and children, and even more important than their own lives.
In fact, most clergy do not meet the standard of true believers, and they may put their belief in gods in a very high position, but probably not the highest, but they have always shown the status of true believers. Clergy tend to be at the line between the deep and the true believer, and sometimes they are converted, and in most cases they do so according to the principles of the true believer.
There are also two special levels above the true believer, and these two levels are not progressive, as in the previous ones.
The fanatic believer is strictly the product of a failed mission, and the fanatic will go crazy with the gods themselves and choose to abandon everything else, including all doctrines and principles. For the gods, fanatics are actually inferior to true believers, because the power of the gods comes from their teachings, and worshipping only the gods themselves and abandoning the teachings does not have much benefit for the gods.
However, because fanatics are able to abandon everything, they are often able to do things that the church does not handle. Therefore, this part of the people will also be accepted by the church, but the treatment is average, but since they have become fanatics, they will not care about the treatment.
What the gods really need is the highest form of the believer--- the saints. The saints are the normal form of true believers, they are firm in their faith and cannot be shaken, and they do not need to abide by any norms and doctrines, because all the actions of the saints are naturally consistent with the teachings of the church.
The saints and the gods are in a state of semi-unity, and they are the embodiment of the gods in the human world. Each saint will provide a large amount of faith to the gods, and at the same time gradually guide the people around them into staunch true believers and even saints.
The number of saints is extremely scarce, and it takes a long time for some churches to produce a saint, and each saint means the development and rise of a church.
The real power of "Atheism" is that it can influence those true believers or deep believers, so that their faith and devotion will drop dramatically in a short period of time, and they will become junior or unbelievers, or even pagans who oppose the gods!r
