Chapter 418: Mage's Apprentice
Even if he shuts up and doesn't say a word of warning, Lukka will stop.
He looked at the long hallway in front of him and the closed wooden doors on either side, not knowing where to go.
"Hey, anyone?" he shouted, knocking on the nearest doors.
The doors were all locked, not sealed with magic, but with genuine locks, Thea wasn't here, and Lukka couldn't do anything about it. Lockpicking is not a sophisticated spell, but because of Thea by his side, he has been lazy and has not learned it.
The entire hallway was empty, and there was no movement except for echoes.
"What do you mean, no one cares, let's go back!" shut up and grumbled loudly.
Suddenly, there was a low noise in front of the hallway, which seemed to be a vibration caused by some kind of magic taking effect. Lukka took a few steps forward, and the sound was supposed to be nearby, but it was hard to tell from behind which door it was coming from.
Just as he was about to try to break in, a door on the right hand side suddenly opened, and a thin boy walked out of it.
He looked to be about thirteen or fourteen years old, with reddish-brown hair and gray-green eyes, and wore a red mage robe in the same style as the one Lukka had worn when he first crossed into the mage world.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I seem to have misremembered the time," the boy touched his body for a long time, shook his head and grimaced at Luca, and said in a hoarse voice, "I forgot to bring my watch, what time is it?"
Lukka took out his pocket watch and looked at it and replied, "Ten past nine in the morning." β
When the young man heard this, he tilted his head and thought for a while, and then asked, "What year is it?"
"In 1488," Luca replied honestly, though a little surprised, "you must still ask the date? β
"Great, that's right. Your side please. The boy said as he closed the door he had come out of, and turned to the largest door at the end of the hallway.
"I said," Lukka asked as he walked, "come up and ask the year, you wouldn't be a time-traveler too, would you?"
"How is it possible, you are thinking too much," the young man laughed, "how can there be so many time and space rifts in this world, and how can there be so many talented people who can move between several worlds and still be alive? β
"You seem to know a lot about traversal. Luca said.
"I always hear from people. The boy opened the door and walked in.
Lukka followed him through the door and found that it was a small but well-decorated reception room.
The boy turned and pointed to a comfortable sofa: "You sit here for a while, I'll prepare some snacks, you haven't had breakfast yet, have you?"
"Well, a little hungry. Lukka wasn't going to be polite.
"Okay, wait a minute, I'll be right away. With that, the boy withdrew through the side door.
Seeing that the door was closed, Lukka turned his head and whispered to Shut Up, "What do you think this kid does, is he the same apprentice mage as I was back then?"
Shut up and shook his head: "No, the basic requirement for a trainee mage is to be at least sixteen years old, and he looks like fifteen at most, and he may not be able to reach it, and he is still changing his voice." β
"And what's the matter with the mage robes he's wearing?" Lukka asked.
"Didn't you notice that there was no rank mark on that robe? This also means that he has not officially entered the Mage Academy, plus this age," he closed his mouth and paused, "I think he should be an apprentice of a certain ** master, and he is in the preparation stage of entering the academy to become a trainee." β
"The apprentice will be able to put on his robes?" Lukka knew very little about the rules of the mage.
"Anyway, there is no logo, even if you are not a serious mage, no one cares if you are willing to buy a robe to wear as a skirt, as long as you don't sew the grade logo certified by the academy on your clothes. Shut up and said.
"Then he shouldn't be magical?" Lukka speculated.
"That's not necessarily, if he is an apprentice of a certain ** masterβthis is very likely," shut up and shook his head, "Then before he entered the mage academy, his level may be higher than that of many junior mages, you should be like you, won't you just fill up a spell?"
"I'm crossing, and you don't know," Luca said, "According to you, the ** master he followed should be the owner of this mage tower, that is, the owner of the black market." β
"Quite possibly," Shut up and stretched, spreading his wings and flying low around the room, returning to Luka's shoulder to continue, "there's one thing I'm concerned about. β
"Are there any traps?" asked Luca.
"No," he said, shaking his head, "the casting characteristics of this tower feel a little clearer here, and I always feel like I've seen it somewhere." β
Lukka wanted to ask again, but the side of the reception room opened again, and the boy walked out with a large silver plate.
He placed the plate on the coffee table and opened the silver tray cover on it, the scent immediately catching Luca's attention.
Toasted bread, tender scrambled eggs, and a few slices of burnt bacon, served with a pot of black tea. It's simple, but it's finely cooked, even if Luca makes it himself.
"I don't have enough time, so much more I can prepare. The boy looked at Lukka a little nervously, "Besides, you must be too lazy to change to the restaurant, just eat on the coffee table, right?"
"It's okay, don't you just bend over?" Lukka had already grabbed a slice of bread.
After a while, he had eaten and drunk enough, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and burped on the couch before he remembered what he was here for.
"I mean, it's been like this for a long time, your boss," Lukka paused, feeling that the title didn't seem appropriate for someone in a mage robe, "Well, what about the owner of this mage tower?
"The master of the Mage Tower is not here, and you are invited to come here," the young man quickly put away his plate, "It's the master of the Undercurrent Chamber of Commerce." β
"Aren't these two the same person?" Lukka found himself in a serious error in his speculation.
"Of course not," the young man shook his head, "You're asking the master of the Undercurrent Chamber of Commerce, right?"
"yes, where is he?" Lukka asked.
The boy put the plate aside, sat down on the sofa across from him, and replied solemnly, "Right in front of you." β
Shut up and didn't grasp it steadily, he slipped off Luka's shoulder, and his head slammed firmly on the arm of the sofa with a muffled "thump".
Lukka picked up the parrot and put it on his lap, and the parrot broke free from his hand, jumped on the coffee table and looked up and asked, "I said, child, how old are you?"
"In another month, I will be fourteen years old. The young man replied with a serious face.
