Chapter 59: Gilderoy Lockhart
When Mr. Weasley returned to the door of the Blotted Bookstore, it was already filled with a large crowd of people, including his family. They all looked upstairs and saw a large banner pulled upstairs: "Gilderoy Lockhart signed autobiography 'I Can Magic' today 12:30-4:30 p.m."
"We can meet him in person!" Hermione exclaimed, "I mean, almost all the books on the list are written by him!"
The majority of the crowd seemed to be witches of Mrs. Weasley's age. A weary male wizard stood in the doorway and said, "Ladies, be quiet. Don't be crowded... Beware of the books.."
Beyond the winding line from the doorway to the bookstore, the sighted men in Weasley's group saw Gilderoy Lockhart signing books in the bookstore.
"Great!" said Mrs. Weasley. She was breathing heavily, and kept patting her hair. "We'll see him in a moment."
The line kept shortening, and gradually, they approached Gilderoy Lockhart. He sat behind his desk, surrounded by large photographs of himself of faces all blinking at the crowd and showing their teeth dazzling white. The real Lockhart wears a robe as blue as a forget-me-not flower, matching his blue eyes. The peaked wizard's hat is playfully crooked over a curly hair.
A short, grumpy man holding a large black camera jumped back and forth in front of him to take pictures of -33-hopping. Every time the flash flashes blindly, puffs of purple smoke erupt from the camera.
"Get out of the way," he yelled at Ron, backing away for a better angle, "this was for the Daily Prophet." ”
"It's amazing. Ron said, rubbing the instep of the man's foot.
Gilderoy Lockhart heard. He looked up and saw Ron, then Harry. He stared at Harry for a moment, then jumped up and shouted, "Isn't this Harry Potter?"
The crowd moved out of the way, whispering excitedly. Lockhart rushed forward, grabbed Harry's arm, and pulled him forward, causing the audience to burst into applause. Harry had a fever on his face, and Lockhart held his hand for the photographer to take a picture. The short man frantically pressed the shutter, and puffs of smoke drifted onto the Weasleys.
"What a beautiful smile, Harry. Lockhart himself showed off a mouthful of shiny teeth, "We can both go to the first edition." ”
When he finally let go of Harry's hand, Harry's fingers went numb. He tried to slip back to the Weasleys, but Lockhart's arm was still on his shoulder, holding him firmly by his side.
"Ladies and gentlemen," said Lockhart, waving his hand to silence everyone, "what an extraordinary moment! I am going to make an announcement on this wonderful occasion about a little matter which I have not said for some time. ”
"Young Harry walked into the Blotted Bookstore today just to buy my autobiography, and I'd give him the book for free on the spot!"
"But he doesn't know," Lockhart continued, shaking Harry so that his glasses slipped to the tip of his nose, "he's going to get something more valuable than the clumsy 'Enchanted Me', and in fact, he's going to get a real, enchanted me." Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is my great pleasure and pride to announce that this September I will be the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!"
The crowd applauded and cheered, and Harry found himself in his possession of Gilderoy Lockhart's complete book, so heavy that he walked a little shaky. With great difficulty, he stepped out of the center of public attention and came to the wall, where Ginny was standing beside her new cauldron.
"Here's for you," Harry said to her vaguely, pouring the book into the cauldron, "I'll buy it myself!"
"It seems that there is nothing to be learned in this year's Defense Against the Dark Arts class!" Zhang Qiu complained to Zhang Feng.
"But Gilderoy Lockhart is still quite handsome, and I think this guy is absolutely at the top of his game, at least when it comes to the magic of physical care. When Hermione saw Lockhart like this, she also put away the little worship she had given him at the door of the store and complained.
"Be careful the next time you see him at school. I don't think he's as pompous as he appears. The authenticity of the experiences in those books he wrote was very high, and he definitely experienced it himself. Now I think it's probably a disguise. A Ravenclaw can't be like this. Zhang Feng looked at Lockhart, who was performing pompously in the audience, with a somewhat serious expression, and said in a voice that only Zhang Qiu and Hermione could hear.
