Chapter 206: Nether Radiance
Since Ciri told Arnold before he left that he didn't need the gold, silver and jewels in the treasure, Arnold didn't force Ciri to give him the treasures that the world would see. X, though, didn't leave nothing for Ciri, the great benefactor.
After opening the treasure, a scepter is placed in the center of all the treasures, and there are many descriptions of this scepter in the Book of Divine Graces--- Imperial Scepter.
The Imperial Scepter, formerly known as Nether Radiance, is the most valuable treasure passed down from generation to generation among emperors, a symbol of power and glory. It comes from the Nether period and is said to be owned by the greatest arcanist of the Nether Empire and the administrator of the entire Nether Empire.
Legend has it that the Nesser Empire contains the greatest secret of the greatest nation of mankind, the key to the control of destiny, and the key to the ultimate evolutionary research that was still being carried out before the collapse of the Nether Empire.
After Emperor Morimon committed suicide, no one discovered the scepter that both the church and the mages were looking for.
Although Arnold did not understand the importance of the scepter, he knew that the Imperial Scepter was very valuable, so he secretly hid the scepter and gave it to Ciri as a very memorable historical souvenir. He grew up in poverty, and he didn't know what to give to his benefactor, but Arnold had heard that general historical scholars liked ancient objects with historical significance.
The church did ask Arnold about the Imperial Scepter, but he was fooled. For a little guy like Arnold who is young and has made great contributions, the church doesn't have much suspicion, after all, the treasure of the Emperor Senmen is divided into twelve parts, this is only one of them, and it is normal not to be here, and there is no information to prove that the Imperial Scepter must be in the twelve treasures of the Emperor Senmen.
The major churches only took back all the things related to the Holy See and the magic arcane in the treasure, and they took some of the remaining treasure as the cost of exchanging the duke title and the domain, and most of it was left to Arnold.
The Imperial Scepter, or Nether's brilliance, is translucent as a whole, with a faint blue tinge of the sky. It is a delicate, short staff, about the length of an adult's outstretched arm, with a suspended pearl standing on top of the staff, which moves with the entire scepter, but has no contact with the scepter.
No one knows exactly what the material of the pearl is, but it is full of starlight and bright spots, and it is still rotating and flickering. Underneath the pearl is a four-petal cane rest, which surrounds the pearl upwards. Underneath each petal is a small petal carved downwards containing the body of the staff.
The small petal carving is only half the size of the upper large petal, which is also four-petaled, and contains the body of the staff in the middle. The next section is a cylindrical cane with a thin middle and thick ends, and many lines are densely carved on it. The back is connected to another rod, slightly thinner. This section of the staff is also tattooed with that mysterious pattern.
This is followed by two nested round tables, the upper end of which is connected to the tattooed staff, and the lower end is a longer, thinner scepter body. The finer body is very transparent, because there is a partial reflection that makes it visible. There are no longer any lines on it, it is a pure and sleek cylindrical rod.
Ciri didn't want to accept any gifts from Arnold, but he was interested in the scepter. After some thought, Ciri finally decided to take the Staff of Brightness of Nether, which would cause him a lot of trouble in Arnold's hands, and it was indeed better to leave it to himself for safekeeping. Moreover, Ciri is very fond of studying things from the Nether period, which was the peak of the Divine Grace Realm, and many of the spiritual knowledge research results that transcend the Colin plane in the Divine Grace Realm are mostly from the Nesser period.
However, due to church reasons, it was extremely difficult to obtain any items from the time of Nether. Now that the most important and top-level items in the Nether Empire have appeared in front of him, it is pure nonsense to say that he is not tempted. Ciri finally accepted the scepter, and in return, he gave Arnold a crystal pendant, telling him to break the pendant if he encountered any intractable danger, and maybe it could save his life. But in the end, there should be no one around, otherwise what awaits him will be an endless life of escape.
This pendant is actually a random space teleportation device, and with the current level of space research in the Divine Grace Realm, it is difficult to catch up with Arnold who was teleported away.
After Arnold left, Ciri took it out of the box containing Nether's brilliance and took a closer look. As soon as the scepter was in her hands, Ciri understood why Nether Radiance claimed to be the key to her destiny.
With Nether in his hand, Cirry suddenly realized that the whole world was very different. Everything around the body, including decorative bonsai, office items, and even the ground and buildings, has a thin line extending upward. Both Ciri herself and the scepter body have this thin line. This kind of thin line is very special, like the light of the stars is highly condensed into an entity, gathering but not dispersing. Ciri had seen this kind of thin line once, and that was the moment Principal Bart completed the [Destiny Guidance] spell during the second academy promotion battle.
He can almost assume that this is the thread of fate that controls everything, the trajectory of the fate of everything. Nether's glorious claim to be the key to control destiny is not an exaggeration today. The trajectory of fate is nowhere to be found, and the thread of fate is difficult to meet. Even a fate mage of Principal Barth's level was lucky enough to see this spectacle only the moment when the spell was successful.
Now, with a single scepter, Ciri can see the illusory fate of all affairs, which is enough to prove that Nether's brilliance is indeed worthy of its name. Arnold probably didn't notice anything unusual about the scepter, otherwise he would have questioned Ciri. From this point of view, not everyone with the Nesser Radiance can see the thread of fate. This should have something to do with Ciri's previous Destiny talent, which was also shown as "unknown" when he tested his future potential.
Upon closer inspection, Ciri realized that he didn't understand the meaning of those threads of fate at all. Not everything has a thread of fate, and to be exact, there is only one exception to what Ciri has seen, and that is the translucent pearl that hangs from the top of the Nesser Staff of Radiance.
Not only that, but after Ciri tried to inject magic into Nether's radiance, all the threads of fate around the pearl seemed to have a tendency to twist towards her, and all the things affected by the threads of fate in the entire room were blurred, including Ciri herself. Frightened, he hurriedly withdrew the mana supply. All the changes in fate are very dangerous, and Ciri doesn't want to accidentally play herself to death.
Now that the efficacy of Nether Radiance as the key to controlling destiny has been partially confirmed by Ciri, it seems that it is not for nothing that the Nether Empire has been conducting ultimate evolutionary research, but it is not known what role Nether Radiance plays in it and what secrets it contains.
Ciri puts Nether's radiance back into the box, and then collects it into the Eyes of Knowledge. He is not in a hurry to study this scepter now, and the most important thing is to put "Atheism" first
