Chapter 499: Anna of Osente
Fett had never been afraid to take risks, and after guessing that the members of the Alchemists' Guild would not reveal information about the fog to her, she decided to sneak into the attic of the house in what might be called shamelessβto find the investigation documents related to the fog, if they actually put them there. But from any point of view, the room on the second floor of the house was not suitable for papers, and it was more like the studio of an important member of the Alchemist Guild.
It doesn't take too long to come to a conclusion, and putting it into action requires all the attention. Fett didn't want to be mistaken as a thief by the alchemists here, which would cause a lot of inconvenience to his actions. So she tried to keep a low profile as much as possible, looking like just a guy who had come here to seek knowledge about alchemy. This is not surprising, most of the warriors who are constantly accompanied by combat cannot do without the help of alchemy potions.
As Fett made his way to the second floor staircase leading to the attic, she was stopped by someone who had disrupted his plans. "I advise you not to do that, there's a magical defense system in the attic, and I don't want any bloodshed here. "It's still the girl with the brown ponytail, even though Fitt is seeing her for the first time.
Fett turned and looked at her. Honestly, for a moment she felt a little familiar with the other person's face, but she couldn't remember where she had seen or heard someone describe it. "Who are you?" the other party didn't show any signs of hiding himself, so Fett asked straight to the point.
"I'm Anna Richter from Ocent, hello. Now she seemed to be a rather polite person, and if Marcos was here, he would surely wonder if there was some magic in Fett that could dispel the suspicions of the other party.
"Why would you answer an intruder's question?" asked Fett, cautiously.
Anna was not surprised by the question, and she spread her hands. "After all, you have many ways to create a riot here, but I don't want that to happen. So for now, it's best not to provoke you. However, if I had no concerns, perhaps we would have already fought between us. β
Fett was a little surprised by her words, and the guy seemed to be able to make his own judgment about the situation in front of him very quickly. And she's not afraid to keep quiet conversations with strangers who might pose a threat. In the end, Fett finally knew why he felt that the other person's face was a little familiar. "I've heard of you, a certain imp mentioned you. β
"Oh, who is it?" asked Anna with interest, as if Fitt were no longer the intruder she had seen through. Of course, if the other party dares to make any outrageous moves, she will still sound the alarm.
"Frederick Schultz. Fett replied.
"Frederick, do you know Frederick?" Anna was a little surprised, she didn't expect to hear Schultz's name from the other person's mouth.
"The swordsmanship imp that Maffeo brought back from Orcente, the guild's pistachio, he has many titles. Fit waved his hand.
If it weren't for the other party's deliberate restraint of his excitement, Fett would have thought that Anna's attitude towards him had changed one hundred and eighty degrees. But Anna was clearly more friendly than she had just been. "Is he here?" she asked.
Fett shook his head, "No, he's gone to the Northern Snowy Lands with Maffeo. β
"The northern snowy region, that's a far away place, what are he and Maffeo doing there?"
"It's a long story, but I'm not here to chat right now. Fett stopped talking about it, or she would have to keep talking to Anna, and she didn't have that time to waste right now.
Anna was stunned for a moment, but when she reacted, she didn't care about Fett's behavior. "Why do guys dealing with the same thing show up here, you're here for the fog, right?"
"Well, that's up to you from which point of view. Fit uttered something incomprehensible.
Playing a guessing game at a time like this was obviously not a good idea, and Anna knew that the other party was definitely not here to discuss alchemy recipes or ingredients with some alchemist. But she decided not to make a big deal out of it, because by this time alchemists had already returned to work here after lunch. "Let's put it this way, I don't want anyone to take my prey, but if sharing a little bit of information with you will get you away, I'd be glad to do it. β
"Why should I trust you?" Fett folded his arms in his hands, carefully observing the other party's every word and deed.
"Because I never lie about bounties, and if you mess up here, then my bounty will go down the drain, and I certainly don't want to see that happen. β
"Are you short of money?"
"It's none of your business. β
Fett pondered for a moment, and after confirming that the other party was not deceiving herself, she spoke. "Well, you tell me about the fog, and I'll leave here and never come back. β
"Come with me, it's not a wise choice to talk here. Anna turned and walked down the stairs down the hall, and Fett hesitated before following. She couldn't guess Anna's mind, people who usually valued bounties were not going to reason with the guy who threatened her bounty, and she had seen too many fights over the uneven distribution of a reward.
But Anna couldn't be more ordinary, and it was hard for Fett to see any flaws in her. But the only thing she can be 100% sure of is that this person is not a nobody with mediocre strength, not only the lightsaber worn by the other party's waist, but also the power that the other party exudes all the time that she has never seen but has heard of. Only once had she heard Captain Rout describe that kind of power, which was said to be a combination of inner strength and superb swordsmanship.
Anna led Fett to the outside of the Alchemists' Guild house, across most of the small square to a remote path away from the main road of the village. It's a good place, and Fitt has to admit that you don't have to worry about someone overhearing your conversation or a thief suddenly rushing out and stealing your belongings in the middle of a conversation.
"Your condition is for me not to go back there, right?" Fitt confirmed one last time.
Anna nodded, "That's right, as long as you don't cause any trouble, then I think the agreement between us can be completed smoothly." β
"I promise you, now, tell me the information about the fog. β
"Some creatures tend not to appear in the human eye, and Helim the Mist Demon is one such creature. Regarding this, some people speculate that it is a demon, and some people speculate that it is a collection of remnants. But in any case, it is the culprit that produced this thick fog. Unfortunately, eliminating Helim is almost impossible to do, there are too many restrictions. β
Fett looked at her suspiciously, "That's all?"
"That's it, destroying the Mist Demon Helim is an unrealistic goal, but it's not like there's no other way to get rid of this fog, just banish Helim from here. But that solution is about my bounty, so forgive me, I can't tell you. According to the agreement between us, I have already told you the information about Shilim, so I hope you will be able to deliver on your promise. Anna smiled with a subtle sly smile.
"I will keep my promise, and I will not go back there, even though your information will not help me in any real way. β
"Please, I'll share the information with you, considering you're Frederick's companion. Anna said dissatisfiedly with her hands on her hips.
"Well, I'll say hello to that little imp for you later. Fett let out a sigh.
"Great, remember to say hello to him for me. Anna winked mischievously, then turned and quickly walked away. Fett was eager to catch up and ask more, but it was clear that the other party couldn't confide in him even a letter.
