Chapter 117: Ghosts and Foxes
Maffeo had been hesitating in the dirty backstreets for a long time, partly because of the commission he had accepted from GSD before heading to the West Coast, and partly because of Aiden's letter. Pen ~ Fun ~ Pavilion www.biquge.info returned to Huttonmaar and realized that he had completely integrated into the town. After prioritizing these two matters, he could also return to the guild to visit Mr. Edward with peace of mind.
Eventually, he decided to go to GSD first, and so far Aiden still hasn't shown up. It was basically impossible for this strange man to find him, so when he didn't come to the door himself, Maffeo naturally chose to go to GSD.
He was once again in the familiar eerie alley, where Sinda had already packed up her bits and pieces and closed the shop to rest. I believe that for his weak body, he will not allow himself to use most of the day to carry out those iron-striking tasks.
In Maffeo's eyes, GSD is a strange old man who never knows what rest is. He was a man who had been with ghosts and gods all his life, and so was himself. Eventually, he discovered that it was hard for fellow fate-cursed people not to feel a kinship for GSD.
"When I heard footsteps, I knew it was you back. GSD's eerie voice came from the dark alley, though it was kind to Maffeo now.
"Yes, Master. Maffeo nodded.
GSD walked slowly out of the alley and muttered, "I'm really old, it's a good thing to be young, you have to know how to cherish it." From time to time, he uttered words that resembled admonitions, and Maffeo could understand that GSD did not want people who were cursed by fate to lose their enthusiasm and hope for life.
"We weren't able to investigate your commission thoroughly, but we did find a clue. β
"Well, hopefully it's good news, you can find a place to sit down first, it's not good to stand all the time. GSD finished and sat down on the floor.
Maffeo followed the GSD's example and sat on the floor, where no one would have the upper hand to care about the damn thing on the bench. "We also reacted when we approached Sky City, and it had something to do with the magical lifeforms in Sky City. We still haven't explored the entire tower yet, but we believe that maybe at the top of the tower, we'll be able to find out. β
GSD nodded, "You guys are doing a good job, don't push yourself all the time. β
"Uh, thank you for your concern. β
"About that......" GSD said in a deep voice.
Maffeo naturally understood what GSD meant, "I used it twice, and it really made me feel bad. Every time I felt like my whole body was burning, and now I was sensitive to the smell of blood. I hate to admit it, but it's out of excitement. β
GSD stroked the hilt of the sword behind him: "That's it...... It looks like you've got a strong enemy there. β
"Yes, dragonmen, dolls, and the Golem we've encountered right now. β
"Son, that tower has been silent for hundreds of years, if you can really reach the top. Believe me, you may encounter creatures that have never been more powerful there. β
Maffeo stared at GSD as if seeking the truth of the words: "Master?"
"Go, kid, I don't want the other guests to wait too long. GSD smiled and looked down the street.
At the corner of the street and the alley, a man in a black hood was leaning lazily against the yellowed wall. "I'm sorry to bother you, Mr. GSD. He beckoned, in a lazy and sly tone, and there was no doubt that he was Maffeo's other target to reply toβAiden.
"I've said for a long time, don't let your rats come to me by mistake, they'll be haunted by ghosts, Mr. Fawkes. That's not what I want to see, and it's the same for you. GSD stood up.
"I regret what they did, and I'll tell them. Aiden bowed exaggeratedly, and every time he saw him do this, Maffeo would always think that it was not his heart, because his movements seemed to be too exaggerated.
Maffeo approached Aiden, "So, in your usual style, we should go to the rooftop, right?"
"Very well, Mr. Maffeo, you are getting more and more fond of me. Aiden finished speaking, and he was already taking a step and rushing across the street. Maffeo shook his head and reluctantly followed, accompanied by the background of GSD's submerge into the dark alley.
Hutton Maar's roof usually belongs to Aiden's world, and if this guy's parkour skills are really to be compared, then presumably neither Maffeo nor Marcos will be his opponents. Of course, none of this mattered, and perhaps for Marcos, Aiden's misty identity was all he wanted to know.
"Well done, Mr. Maffeo, you're still moving as fast as ever. Aiden looked at Maffeo, who was a few steps slower than him, who had just climbed to the roof.
Maffeo gasped for breath and responded, "I don't understand you, please, don't use the strange title of "Mr. Maffeo" anymore, that really makes me feel strange." β
Aiden laughed loudly, "Maybe you should call me Mr. Aiden?"
"If it weren't for Master GSD, I don't think I would know your last name, would I? Mr. Fox. β
"That's my pleasure. β
"Well, I don't want to give the hell to it, but if you really can, I think you can just call me Maffeo in the future. β
"Of course I wouldn't mind, would I? Maffeo!" Aiden smiled slyly.
Maffeo tried to smile as sly as Aiden, though it seemed comical: "Of course, I think I'll have to think about it. Aiden Fox, maybe I should call you Mr. Fox?"
"I love that title. Aiden smiled and nodded.
Maffeo's expression at this time was like that of a child who likes to play pranks, and it was the same expression that belonged to them when they succeeded in pranks: "I think it's better to forget it, Aiden." β
"Trust me, you will. Aiden didn't care. "So, tell me that you got the letter to Roger. β
Maffeo put away his expression, "Yes, at least I can guarantee that we didn't take it apart. β
"I believe in you. β
"All is it all done?" asked Maffeo.
"About what?"
"Everything. β
Aiden shook his head, "I think I'll still need your help, no, no, no, I can't call it help, I should call it cooperation." A sly smile appeared on Aiden's face again.
