Chapter 260: The Open Door
In Ciel's vision, the people who had been moving around the rooms had collapsed in a matter of minutes, and judging by their breathing, they should have slept soundly. When everyone in the room fell asleep, the doctor nodded to Cheese, signaling that he was ready to move.
The mage rose from the ground and looked at the towering castle next to the Apothecary Guild, where the Greylion royal family was located. Somehow, Cheese always felt that something bad was going on in that castle right now. However, the premonition was very faint, and the mage was not sure if it was some kind of revelation or just an illusion caused by an overly oppressive atmosphere. To be on the safe side, Cheese recited a spell and sealed off the space around the Apothecary's Guild, so that anyone in the Guild would be hindered from escaping or opening the portal directly to the house.
Push open the door in front of you, and a simple trick is enough to open the deadbolt from the inside. The Apothecary's Guild in front of me didn't look any different from daytime, and if I had to say, it was just a glow cast from between countless huge lenses that turned into a yellow glow. In this environment, Cheese and Hill walked past the people who had fallen to the ground in front of the door and snored slightly, towards the second floor of the building.
The Dementors noticed that the men who had fallen asleep had a more or less water stain on their bodies, which presumably looked like the drippets made by Cheese after completing their mission. By the time they woke up, the water had long since dried up, and even if anyone wanted to find out what had happened last night, there was no way to find out.
"Gentlely, I'm just putting them to sleep, and they'll wake up if they make too much noise. He whispered to his companion that the mage didn't want to reveal his whereabouts because of such a mistake.
At the same time, Cheese saw that many of the sleepy people around him were wearing standard armor, and it seemed that the riots during the day had strengthened the Kingdom's vigilance against the Guild. According to Lothar's intelligence, there would not be so many soldiers stationed here in normal times. However, these warriors in armor are of little use against the caster's tricks. In fact, even if the mage didn't make a move, Dr. Hill beside him would have a way to make these ordinary people unconscious.
Dementors are naturally magical creatures, and while they can't perceive things like a fully educated spellcaster like Cheese, Dr. Hill can still feel the magic that spreads down the second-story stairs. She tugged at the mage's robe, hoping to remind her companions. But as I said, what Hill was able to spot, Cheese was aware of when he opened the door.
"Don't be nervous, these magic shows we're in the right place. The mage's face was hard to see under the hood, but there was excitement in his voice.
On the second floor of the Pharmacists' Guild, the cultivation tank that was damaged by the battle during the day was not repaired so quickly. Although the scattered plants and soil on the ground have been cleaned up, there are still more than a dozen apprentices here trying to ensure that the precious plants that have survived can grow smoothly.
"Looks like you're fighting fiercely during the day. The Dementor whispered as he followed the breach in the fence to see the marks of Jack smashing out the third floor.
"It's okay. The mage walked to the place where he and Jason had fought before, and sure enough, the blood on the ground had already been cleaned up. Cheese didn't care too much about his hair or blood being picked up by the enemy, and since agreeing to work with the witch, the mage unleashed a small spell on himself in order to solve the problem once and for all, and the tissues that had left his body would quickly spontaneously combust after a short delay.
As Cheese spoke, he suddenly felt a gaze fall on him, but when the mage looked back in the direction of his gaze, all he could see was the darkness in the corridor on the third floor.
"What's wrong?" asked Dr. Hill, noticing the strangeness of the cheese, as he walked over to the mage.
"Nothing, be careful. We may be in company. As he spoke, Cheese tiptoed towards the staircase leading to the third floor, and in this glimmer of light, the mage did not notice that there were some strange symbols on the steps under his feet. When Cheese's foot stepped on the symbols, which were made of an unknown black-brown liquid, they quickly dissolved and seeped into the stone bricks.
Ascending to the corridor on the third floor, the situation here is much quieter than Tsukasa imagined. The lenses in the patio seemed to have been adjusted, and the bright light from the giant torch on the roof did not fully illuminate the floor. However, it is not far from the position of the torch, and the faint light of the fire can still provide basic lighting for the mage. Looking at the broken marks in the hallway, Cheese noticed that the office door of the chief pharmacist of the Pharmacists Guild, that is, Baron Gray's teacher, was actually open.
It was interesting, the cleaner would not dare to leave the door of this room open, and even if the chief apothecary was in there now, there was no reason why he should not close it. Moreover, neither the mage nor the doctor was aware of the presence of anyone in this room. The door of the black hole opened as if it were silently inviting people with too much curiosity to enter.
Cheese tried to see the room with his magical vision, but the mage found that he couldn't see behind the door, as if the door was an invisible barrier.
"It's funny. The mage muttered to himself. Something that could block out magic was rare in the world as far as he knew.
When Ciel heard Cheese's words, he tried to find out the information in the room in his own way. However, the Dementors soon discovered that she was having the same problems as the mages. Unlike Cheese, the Medic doesn't find it amusing to have such an unseeable room at this juncture, which means it's most likely a trap set by the enemy.
"We'll go in when we're ready. Cheese said in a relaxed tone, no matter how shocked Hill's mask turned when he heard this.
"Are you crazy?
"What if it's a trap? We're here to get to the fourth floor, but look, there's a staircase to the fourth floor, and if this building really has four floors, then it's its access to it. As the chief pharmacist's office, I don't know where else this would be a better place to build this kind of tunnel. ”
Ciel was dumbfounded by the mage's words, of course she knew that there was some truth to Cheese's words, but in her opinion, it was not a reason to fall into the net.
"We could go in from the patio and break the façade. The Dementor pointed to the masonry wall diagonally above the patio.
"Trust me, that's never a good idea. The mage shrugged his shoulders and walked straight into the office.
Dr. Hill reached out to grab Cheese again, only to find his hand slipping through the mage's robes. Knowing that this must be a trick used by the cheese to prevent himself from stopping him, the doctor could only stomp his foot angrily at this time to keep up with the mage's pace.
