Chapter 402: A Different Kind of Goods
Buzz clapped his hands, satisfied. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info he prefers Carter now to Carter a minute ago. As long as the guy on the other side doesn't do something that makes him feel unpleasant, he won't do anything to the other person. "Very well, this information is important, but I think it would be better if I could bring a few items back tonight. β
Carter naturally understood what he meant, and although this guy seemed to be quiet on the surface, he had been observing his reaction. He knew that he couldn't make him angry at a time like this, or his dagger would never play the same joke on him again. "Come with me. He whispered.
Booz beckoned, then stepped along, the drunken thugs behind him following him. Everyone had iron rods, wooden sticks, and shoddy swords in their hands, which made them look more like they had come here to fight. Unfortunately, there is never a large-scale war between the gangs in the backstreets, just because all the gangsters in the backstreets have trading relationships with each other.
Warhammer and Blackburn retracted their bodies, crouched down, and used the stinking trash can to hide their bodies. They couldn't guarantee that there wouldn't be someone who had drunk too much and wanted to come to the toilet in this alley, and if that guy did show up, they could only pray that he wasn't a guy who liked to look around, otherwise it would have been too easy to see the silhouette of two figures at a close distance.
The chaotic footsteps kept moving towards the alleyway, mixed with the sound of wine bottles falling on the ground and shattering glass, wine separation, and retching one after another. Their actions gave Warhammer reason to believe that this was a rabble, and he thought that Uma and Mirna might be able to wipe them out with just a finger touch. But alas, they definitely don't come to do such boring things.
"What's next?" asked Blackburn after the last guy had passed through the alleyway.
"The first purpose has been achieved, we should keep up with them, this is the best option. Warhammer replied, jumping out from behind the trash can, now that he could finally be a normal person without having to burrow around in the dark like a mouse.
"It would be terrible if they found out about us. Blackburn was a little worried, believing that his tracking skills were not as skilled as Maffeo and Marcos.
"Are you scared?"
"If I answer that you are not afraid, then I am a liar. Blackburn shrugged.
Warhammer quipped, "Interesting, follow me, don't make any noise, understand?"
"I see. β
The two slowly turned out of the alley, and then kept a certain distance from the gang through obstacles in the road, such as an abandoned horse-drawn carriage that had long since lost wheels, or a hill of garbage and debris. Blackburn followed closely behind the Warhammer, and even the slightest deviation would have caused him to correct immediately, and he even wanted to synchronize with the Warhammer with every step. The latter could tell that he was nervous.
"You shake like a robot. Warhammer suddenly turned around and teased.
"What?"
"Still scared? God, little Eugene, you don't get nervous if you think of those guys as drunk kittens. Warhammer turned around and walked on.
Blackburn shook his head and muttered. "What the hell is this analogy?"
Carter deliberately slowed his pace and feigned uncertainty on his face, trying to waste Booz and the others' time in a way that had little practical effect. He thought that even if he didn't have the ability to resist them, he couldn't let them go on all the time. But there's no doubt that his move was once again met with Booz's warning, as he's never been more hesitant in previous trades. What's more, his acting skills are really bad.
"Mr. Carter, you are testing my patience. Buzz smiled, but his hand was already on the hilt of the dagger at his waist.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Bouz. A lot of things have happened lately, and my brain is a little bit bad. Carter said apologetically.
"There's always been a lot going on, you've never been so hesitant before, I don't think you've even forgotten where you hid your goods, right?" Butz smiled maliciously, and the half-handled dagger was already free from the shackles of his belt.
Carter wiped the beads of sweat oozing from his forehead and said with an ugly smile. "I remembered, please come with me. He turned a corner and walked into the alley that led to another street. Butz glanced at Carter, who was keeping a steady pace, with a slightly suspicious gaze, and he was strange todayβthe thought came to his mind.
Warhammer and Blackburn walked over the wreckage of the last abandoned carriage on the road, and then, after seeing the guys all enter the alley, they left cover and quickly approached the alleyway. "Stay here, little Eugene, you know what to do. Warhammer gestured to Blackburn.
"Be careful, Warhammer. Blackburn reminded.
I will return this sentence to you as it is, and I will regard it as a gift from me. Warhammer spread his hands and slumped into the alley. Blackburn muttered some grumbling words and leaned against the wall, beginning to observe his surroundings.
In Warhammer's sight, Carter was using the key to open the locked, abandoned stable, and he saw the children lying inside, tied with ropes and mouths gagged with strips of cloth. They all showed fearful eyes, constantly thinking about what their fate would be. Warhammer gritted his teeth angrily, but he thought, as Blackburn had said, that he couldn't be impulsive, though he would love to throw the detonating robots and blow them up into pieces.
"That's all?" asked Buzz, with no smile on his face anymore, suspiciously.
"That's all, Mr. Bouz. Carter replied. "Recently, the supply has been a bit tight, and I've done my best. β
"Well, it seems that tonight's trading was not as pleasant and smooth as expected. Butz deliberately gave Carter a threatening look. "Take these goods and throw them into the wagon. He gestured to his men. Immediately a few stout men entered the abandoned stables and grabbed the children by the collars like chickens and carried them on their shoulders - they really treated the children as if they were goods.
"Give him the money. Buzz snorted at his other subordinate, and the fellow stepped forward and removed the bag he was carrying on his shoulder, the "clanging" of coins against each other in it, the sound of wealth. Carter, perhaps with the brightest expression of the whole night, the Scrooge's usual expression at the sight of gold, stretched out his hand and took the bag full of coins and held it in his bosom.
"See you next time, then, Mr. Carter. Buzz held out his hand, and put a malicious smile back on his face.
Carter was stunned, then immediately reached out and shook it. "It was a pleasure to work with. β
"It was a pleasure to work with. β
When everyone had left the alley, the hammer jumped out of the messy weeds. He stomped his foot angrily and whispered a barrage of insults - to all the gang members and Mr. Carter, and he wanted to tear them to pieces at once. He walked out of the alley and spotted Blackburn hiding across the street, and quickly beckoned to him.
Blackburn looked left and right for a moment, then rushed across the street with a speed he had never done before, as if afraid that he would be spotted if he slowed a little slower. "How's it going, Warhammer? I saw them come out with a couple of kids on their shoulders. β
"Use the drone to track that wagon, follow me. Warhammer didn't care about joking anymore - the most important thing in his life, he immediately opened the box Blackburn was carrying, took the folding drone from it, quickly unfolded it, and launched it into the air. "To find something that would allow us to move, we needed to keep the drone within range of the image receiver. β
Now he had a big problem for Blackburn, who really didn't know where to go in the dead of night to find the so-called thing that would keep the two of them moving. He looked around blankly, his heart full of bitterness.
