Section 13 The Legion of Bones
The devastating flames rained down like cannonballs, destroying houses. Pen, fun, pavilion www. biquge。 There was a wail in the info square, and the frantic crowd fled for their lives in a chaotic manner. The earth shook in flames, and with each fireball Alduin spewed, a scream of fear could be heard from the crowd.
The women and children fled in panic and ran desperately to the safety of the city. Rex, Babas, Keith, and Isodar were pushed out of the city in the midst of the tidal crowd. Thick black smoke from burning wood filled the city and obscured the blue sky and cotton-like white clouds.
The four of Rex rushed to the stables outside the city to search for his mount, Shadowmare, and found that the groom had already fled. The stables were in shambles, the roof of the shed had collapsed to one side, and broken rubble and hay were scattered on the ground. Three horses and the Nightmare were tethered to the manger, two of them red and white, and one of them tan all over. The three horses are tall, muscular, and have a beautiful skeleton, and just by looking at them, you can tell that they belong to a pure war horse breed.
Threatened by the dragon, they were terrified and struggled desperately, screaming and jumping to free themselves from the reins. The shadow on the side surprised and amazed the others. Rex was unimpressed by the extraordinary composure and bravery of his horse.
Isodal lifted his shoulders and looked the Nightmare up and down with wide eyes. "Hey, it's incredible! How is it so calming. Not at all like its kind, you see those three horses, they're going crazy. Is it a demon god?"
Rex replied with a smug smile, "It's battle-hardened!"
She walked over to the horse's head, stretched out her fluffy fingers, and stroked Shadownight's head gently. Shadowmare seemed to enjoy the pleasure of the touch, puffing out its nostrils and panting softly, then wiggling its ears again, rubbing its forehead against Issodar's palm, and then reaching out with its pink tongue to lick her palm, showing childlike affection.
"It's a miracle!" Exclaimed Rex, "I didn't expect it to like you so much! Shadowmare has never been so friendly to anyone, you're the first!"
"Where's Katarina?" asked Barbas.
"To her! There doesn't seem to be such a scene, at least not before I have seen it. Rex replied.
The four entered the stable. Keith calmed the tan horse's emotions and untied the reins and held him in his hand. Babas and Issodar each gained the trust of the other two horses to lead them out of the stable.
"I think Deathwing will attack here soon, let's get out now!" Keith suggested.
"Agreed!" replied the trio.
The bustling crowd fled the city gates and ran forward, following the road to the mountains on the left, and finally disappeared into the dense pine needle forest.
They mounted their horses and prepared to set off on the south side, which was the direction into the Empire. Freed from the control of the Tiger Man, Keith wanted to return to Whitehorse City immediately to report to his father, King Barguf IV. But the sudden appearance of Deathwing can be concluded to be not good news for the creatures of the Skyrim Continent.
The scene of the battle of antiquity, Barbas is still vivid. Although he has lived long enough, he has also participated in many large and small wars that have taken place in the Skyrim Continent. When facing Deathwing, I still feel terrified. The dragon's devastating destruction and incineration are inescapable.
The four of them galloped on horseback, ran some distance, and then hid in the forest on the edge of the city, stopping on a small hill on high ground and looking back at the City of Thorns. Gray smoke obscured most of the palace buildings, leaving only the circular spire of the church exposed.
Alduin circled and flew around, weaving through the smoke. It wreaked havoc on ThornCity, and the rolling fireballs staggered to the ground like falling maple leaves, raising a burst of sparks. The soldiers who were hit let out a terrible shout, which was heart-rending and heart-wrenching.
Isodar's shoulders trembled, and he muttered to himself in dismay, "Home... , the hometown was destroyed ... The tiger people will lose their homes. ”
Babas quickly glanced at her and comforted, "Even if you don't approve of it, I have to say that in fact, where is no longer your hometown, you know this, right? You don't have to rush to deny me, I just want to state the facts." Although you were born and raised there, the king and the generals almost killed you, and they did not identify with you at all. Rex and I can see that, right, Rex?"
"Well, Barbas is right," agreed Rex, "neither the king nor the generals treat you as a countryman, I'm pretty sure of that. ”
Isodar let out a long sigh and said thoughtfully, "Who will I be from now on?
They looked out over the Worthley Mountains and the snow-capped mountains beyond, unconsciously moving away from Thorn City and danger. The sun is tilting southward from midday, and the temperature and heat in the air are gradually slowing down. They left the rugged mountain road and returned to the flat moor road.
At this time, a gust of mountain wind blew in the face. Isodar stopped her horse, "I sensed something was wrong with ---! She said categorically.
"What smell?" asked Rex.
"The smell of dead bodies, and it's getting stronger. Yes... , there is a situation, they are coming this way!" Isodar had a look of horror in his eyes.
"Dead bodies?" asked Keith cautiously, "you see?"
"No, but that's what the air smells like!" Isodar paused, "You can't smell the air?"
Several people shook their heads to indicate that they didn't smell it. Rex took a few more steps ahead of the Nightmare, then stood on his horse and looked ahead, seeing the mountains in the distance gray and cloudy, their outlines diluted by the sun's rays into a thin line that almost melted into the sky. He raised his hand to his eyebrows to block out most of the light, and his round eyes searched for the "dead body" in Issodar's mouth, but he saw nothing but the dark shadow of the bird returning late.
"What did you find?" asked Barbas eagerly, frowning.
"No," Rex replied, "didn't find anything over there!"
"Don't worry! Maybe the dead hunter was left in the nearby woods. Keith's words pale in the face of this. He muttered to himself, "Or maybe an elk or a bear...!"
No one cared about what he said later. Isodal worriedly said, "There can be no mistake, please believe me, there must be some kind of corpse-like creature coming, and there are a lot of them." The tigerman's sense of smell is the most sensitive of the creatures in the sky, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it!"
Before they could react, the horse under the crotch suddenly jumped wildly. The long mouth kept hissing, and if it weren't for the restriction of the reins on the mouth, he would have fled into the mountains and forests to hide.
"They're feeling the danger, and this time they're real!" Mr. Babas said.
Shadowmare's reaction intensified, and it rose to its feet and jumped again and again, warning Rex of the approaching danger.
"Isodar is right, there's an unknown danger looming, let's get off the road and hide!" Rex said.
"Well, the woods over there seem to be a good place to hide," said Keith, pointing to a fork in the road, "and see that ridge is high and wooded, and it's a good base for hiding and scouting, let's go over there." ”
Everyone looked in the direction Keith was pointing, and saw that the dense forest had become dim in the light of the setting sun. The ridge and the earth quickly merge into one. Needless to say, the four of them rushed into the woods with their horses, and all hid behind a boulder on the ridge, and held their breath, staring at the road on that side, guessing what kind of danger would be approaching.
Soon, there was a crowd of people on the left side of the avenue, and there was the sound of squirming footsteps. Rex even heard a few mocking sneers, and those people didn't seem to be human, as their voices were low and hoarse, not like they came from their nostrils. The shadows moved slowly, swaying from side to side as they walked, like terminally ill and dying people.
"What are those shadowy things?" Keys asked, glancing ahead and then turning back, "Rex, can you see their faces? What the hell? I smell a stench!" he said, fanning the front of his nostrils with his palm, as if to drive away a cloud of air.
"I can't see clearly! The night blurred my vision. But it is certain that those shadows are dangerous. Rex stared at them intently, shaking his head and widening his eyes to see what the unknown potential danger was as they walked by. The shadow procession is marching, walking in an organized, disciplined, hierarchical manner. When they came into view, the four of them finally got a clear view of the team.
It was a group of skeletons, armed with a variety of weapons - swords, daggers, maces, axes, spears, and more. Each skeleton was dressed in black magician robes, and it staggered and frantically moved forward with square steps, as if it didn't know how to coordinate its feet.
Similar expressions of surprise froze on the faces of the four of them. The sheer number of skeleton legions made them suspicious of what was in front of them, and for the four who had just come out of their predicament, it would be the worst ending if they met them. Now they can hide from detection, and they are secretly glad to be able to do so.
Still scared in his heart, Isodal asked, "So... , those moving skeletons are... What?" her voice trembled.
"I guess it's the soldiers of Kurosawa Island, the skeleton legion of the Demon Lord Merus Dagon. Babas looked at the group of white bones with a blank expression and said worriedly. "It's really strange that this group of demons has appeared now, and I think there will be an ominous battle. I don't know what their purpose is, where they're going?"
Everyone lurked behind the trunks of the trees, looking sideways at the road. They are cautious and quiet. Rex's heart was boiling, his heart beating violently, constantly fighting against the strong muscles and skin. It was as if giving it a little more strength would break through the barrier in its chest. He felt his head dizzy, and leaning against the trunk of the tree could not alleviate the uncomfortable feeling.
The condition of the other three was not much different, and even the experienced Barbas could not calm down in the face of such a terrifying legion. Overall, he performed slightly better, and what little courage he had left encouraged him to stand upright. Isodal and Keith were half-crouching, covering their mouths tightly with their hands, lest a trace of an out-of-control cry leak out.
"The direction in which they walked seemed to be towards the City of Thorns. Rex's voice was low, muffled as his throat was dry and shaky. "They're not good! Babas, do you know where they came from?"
Babas stared at the Legion of Skeletons walking down the road, narrowed his eyes, and said in a slow tone, "It may surprise you, but it is necessary to know a little bit about the history of Hell City. ”
"Ground... Hell City?" Keith asked tremblingly.
"Yes. Barbas replied.
"What kind of city is it? We've never heard of it. Rex asked.
Barbas looked back at the others, his brow furrowed. "As we all know, there are five great powers on the Skyrim Continent, namely the Empire, Morrowind, High Rock, Hammer and Storm, right! In fact, there is an independent island in the southwest outside the continent, called Kurosawa Island, which is the territory of the demon lord Merus Dagon. His army, called the Skeleton Legion, is an unusually powerful evil force. ”
